Why am I not surprised by that graph? Even personality wise O+ has all the good attributes and A+ has overwhelmingly negative attributes. Even B+ is better. Literally nothing ever positive about A+. It's almost comical, A+ truly is the Universal sh*tty blood type.
quote:

more goal post moving using BS to scare people

fact - most people on earth are A+, its THE most common blood type

its like saying if you have brown eyes you are most at risk its BS

I thought O+ was the most common blood type?
Serious question. Everything I ever read seems to say that if you're Type A blood you're more like to get this, or that, or something else. We're more likely to be overweight, have heart issues, suffer from allergies, etc. Being A+ I'm also not the universal giver or universal receiver either.

Now with the Coronavirus it's come up once again that those with Type A blood are more likely to have more severe symptoms if they catch the Coronavirus.

In all seriousness, is there any benefit at all to having Type A blood? Because there sure doesn't seem like it. Especially compared to Type O blood. It seems like Type A blood is the universal sh*tty blood. Too bad we haven't figured out a way to change people's blood types and give everyone O+ blood.

Maybe you are but JBE is not ready to let the spotlight go away from him. JBE is not ready for you all to be distracted. You really think JBE cares if LSU football goes on this season or not? Newsflash, he doesn't.
I definitely can see Kiffin hating Oxford. I mean to go from Boca Raton to Oxford? I'm not even a big fan of South Florida and even I would say that's a huge step down.

If Kiffin had been smart (which when has Kiffin ever been smart?) I feel like he should've stayed at FAU. He was really starting to build something down there. He could've had a few more successful years and waited for the Miami job to open up (Diaz isn't going to work out there). Miami would've been a much better cultural fit for Kiffin.

As someone who has worked with many people from Japan, South Korea and China over the last 10 years I can tell you the full bow is not used regularly. That's mostly for family members, formal occasions and people who are much higher up on the social ladder than you. In common society it's usually just a quick bow.

Is there any real reason why you would be against it though. I mean a nod in some way is kind of like a bow.
quote:

frick bowing and the queer arse kiss on the cheeks

I'm never been a fan of the kiss on the cheeks either but that's more Europe anyway. What is your problem with bowing though? You can't deny it's probably some of the reason why the rest of Asia (besides China obviously) hasn't bit hit nearly as hard by this virus.

I've always found the bow to be more respectful than the hand shake anyway. Plus with the hand shake there's more complications like "how long do I hold it for?" and "how firm do I do it?" I've never understood the dislike here in the US for the bow.
quote:

I prefer a hello and a nod.

I agree with this. When I say bow I don't mean going all the way down to where you're looking at the ground. Even most Asian cultures don't do that anymore unless it's a person from a much higher social group or family members (parents, grandparents).

But I think a hello and a quick nod/quick bow would be best.

The real world blows and no need to hurry through internet college to get into it

Agree. If there's going to be any time to take a year off and do "self discovery" this would be it. My niece starts college this fall and honestly if she wasn't admitted into the honors college at UK I would recommend she take the year off. She inquired but they indicated if she delayed enrolling she would not be guaranteed honors placement next year. She would essentially have to reapply.

But yeah for a lot of regular students starting college this year or maybe still in their freshmen or sophomore years I would truly consider taking this year off. It's going to be a sh*tshow and the level of education will be down dramatically IMO.
Obviously West vs East on this one. Historically in the East, especially among Eastern Asian civilizations, the formal greeting is a bow compared to the formal greeting of a hand shake or a double kiss on the cheeks in the West.

Due to the pandemic could we see a long term change to more of a bow vs. the more traditional Western greetings? The bow of course has the advantage in that there is no physical contact. I mean we've already gotten to the point now where I won't shake hands with anyone that isn't a good friend or family member.

Never mind the virus hasn't hit Asian countries like Japan, South Korea or Singapore nearly as bad as it's hit the US and Europe.

As much as some may be against it or want to fight it, would it be better long term to adopt the bow as a formal greeting in the west as compared to the hand shake or especially the double kiss on the cheeks? Or in the very least adopt some sort of greeting that does not include physical contact with the other person?
I agree, look at Japan, it's become part of the culture over there. I could easily see it becoming part of the culture here as well.

I don't give a shite if there aren't ANY fans in Tiger Stadium for that game as long as the Texas locker room is hot as piss.

Might be the one time where we want a day game at Tiger Stadium. Have it at high noon with no A/C in the Texas locker room.

No doubt though that it becomes much easier for Texas to come out of Tiger Stadium with a win if there's no fans in the stands. I want them to be subjected to the full Tiger Stadium experience, including going home with a loss.

Works for me. UF will be rebuilding in 2021

It'll be interesting to see what the NCAA does regarding eligibility. I'm guessing they would have to extend eligibility for all fall athletes. Again essentially a freeze. If you're a senior this year you'll still be considered a senior in 2021. Now whether or not those athletes come back for another year would be another story.
I don't disagree that the game might not ever be played. But Texas isn't getting out of it scot free either. They're either playing the game in Tiger Stadium (whether this year or a future year) or they are paying LSU a good chunk of change to get out of the contract.
quote:

If we cancel the season or the SEC cancels the season, our contract with Texas is over. They would not owe us a game.

Have you read the contract? I'm guessing there's easily some sort of natural disaster/act of God clause in there that would prevent that. And I'm pretty sure a global pandemic would qualify as a natural disaster/act of God.

I agree that if LSU or the SEC cancels the season the contract could become void. But what about if the Texas governor cancels Texas season? Or JBE cancels the LSU season? Or if the NCAA says no college football period? What happens then? I'll be honest, I don't know, but I seriously doubt it gets Texas out of the contract. Unless of course Texas is willing to buy their way out of the contract and with college athletics in trouble as it is I'm guessing Texas wouldn't want to do that. If the lawyers for LSU are worth anything (and who knows on that, lol) I'm guessing a buyout for either side would be cost prohibitive.

My thing would be if I was LSU make a good faith effort with Texas to try to reschedule for a later year. It would be best for both parties involved and maybe even put in there that if Texas agrees to move the game to another year that LSU will play Texas in a neutral site game in Dallas at some point with all the money generated going to Texas.
quote:

It won’t be. Too much maneuvering would need to take place for just one game.

It's one game. In the face of the virus the maneuvering isn't that hard. Where there's a will there's a way.

What's Texas going to do if the whole season is canceled? The contract with still stand, they will still owe us a game at Tiger Stadium. They'd have to maneuver to fit LSU in on a future schedule anyway.

Why not just make it easier now and start planning for it? It doesn't even have to be next year, it could be a few years in the future wherever both Texas and LSU have room. But it can be done and it wouldn't be that hard.
quote:

Many won’t like what I’m about to mention but best bet to have football in my opinion is do it like premier league. Have no fans and still televise each game just like normal. We could still have football and have a season. I understanding the protests and people are in large crowds so why not with football. I would think it would be safer just to have players only.

I would agree with this as long as Texas agreed that they still owe us a home game from the home-home. Otherwise I'd like to see LSU work with Texas to delay the game to another year.

Nah they let thousands of people protest in the streets. Why would filling Tiger Stadium be any different?

Because you know and I know that JBE will never hold protestors the same standard that he would hold other events. JBE will say that the protests are far more important and therefor they have a right to protest. That on the other hand LSU fans do not have the right to attend a game at Tiger Stadium if it's not safe.

Look at Florida, they shut down Miami Beach over the 4th of July weekend. They didn't shut down any of the protests. The protestors are always going to be held to a different standard. Most of the media is still trying to convince us that the protests AREN'T the reason we're having a new surge of the virus when we all know it's the truth. It's sickening but it's the truth.

Guarantee you JBE will shut down college football in the state of Louisiana before he allows 100,000 fans inside Tiger Stadium this fall. And since LSU is a state university JBE does have the ultimate say. It'll be 25-35,000 allowed in at most.

I don't want Texas coming in and leaving thinking "well what's the big deal about Death Valley, it's no better than Darrell K. Royal Stadium. Death Valley is overrated". I want them going out of there literally shaking realizing that while the atmosphere at Texas games is big, Death Valley at night is a whole different animal. I want them going home with a loss and getting to have the complete LSU experience and never wanting to come back.

Should LSU vs. Texas be delayed?

Posted by Sailor on 7/6/20 at 12:53 pm
I ask this because it's our premier non conference game and it's one of those once in a generation games. Normally Tiger Stadium would be lit for a game like this but now Texas is going to get the better end of the deal. They got all the economic impact of the game in Austin whereas we won't get anywhere near the economic impact that we would've gotten in a normal year in Baton Rouge.

At this point there's no chance of college football having games right now with a full crowd. At best Tiger Stadium would be around 50% capacity for this game, most likely more around 20-30%.

For the economic impact angle as well as letting Texas fans experience Tiger Stadium, should the Texas game be pushed back to another year? It would just be sad to see this type of game in an empty Tiger Stadium.

No Alabama for UGA? I'll take it since it helps our chance to win the East again

Yep any other inter division games had to be scraped. But I would just push everything back a year. So Bama-UGA would play in Tuscaloosa in 2021.

I really think this type of scenario would be the best chance of us having an SEC Football season this year.
For both players and fans. I think the SEC (and the rest of college football) should just scrap the non-conference as well as any neutral site games. Make the SEC schedule a 7 game schedule. Each SEC team plays the other 6 teams in their division and their cross division rivals. The SEC East-West rotation is delayed by one year and this year would essentially be a standalone year.

Season could start on September 19th though some schools would start as late as October 3rd (such as LSU and Alabama) and be over by November 14th. This would achieve the following:
1) Players get 2 more weeks of conditioning and practice time (since Spring Football was canceled).
2) Allows SEC to have the SEC Championship on November 21st allowing the regular season to be over before Thanksgiving (in alignment with most schools not having students report back after Thanksgiving).
3) Allows SEC to crown an SEC Champion even if there is no CFP and allows SEC season to be over before peak flu season hits.
4) Maintains the core SEC schedule and most major rivalries.
5) Allows the season to be played in better weather (we know the first few weeks are absolutely brutal and the majority of the season would be played in the best weather in October).

Here's the SEC West Schedule (please note I didn't bother with notating home or away):

LSU
10/3 - Arkansas
10/10 - Florida
10/17 - Texas A&M
10/24 - Miss State

I think the NFL starts on time even if it is with 0 - 25% fans. There's too much TV money involved plus there wouldn't be the public relations disaster that there would be at the College Level if a lot of players on one team got sick.

I think NFL start on time with 0 - 25% fans and potentially halfway through the season that goes up to 50% fans. Absolute worse case they go the NBA/MLS route and play in a bubble.

College football can't be played in a bubble plus it'll be political with the University Presidents. Never mind the optics that the players don't have a choice if they want to keep their scholarship.

I think best case scenario we have an 8 or 9 game conference only schedule. Non Power 5 schools cancel their seasons and any non-conference games are canceled. This would let them push back the start of the season mid September and potentially be done with even conference championship games in mid November. Spring football is a possibility as well though I'm not in favor of that because it could screw up football the following fall.

So at this point I would say 50-75% chance the NFL season happens this year. 0 - 25% chance College Football happens.

My kid had the throat swab, said it wasn’t bad. Took two weeks to get the results though. Came back positive. Yay. Only symptoms she had was loss of taste and smell.

I don’t have symptoms, but my work will eventually tell me to get one, probably. They’re paying me to stay home, so if they want me to get one I ain’t gonna argue.

Thank you for the info. I've heard the throat swab is pretty much similar to getting test for strep, did you find that to be accurate? From your child's experience with it do you think the throat swab is less uncomfortable compared to the nasal swab?

I've had an off and on cough the last few days. Not a constant hacking bronchitis/pneumonia cough (I already had that 2 years ago, lol) but more of just an off and on cough. Been yawning a little bit more than normal as well. I haven't exactly been wearing a mask everywhere and I've gone on 2 trips since mid May so I've been taunting the virus for awhile. Has Anyone Here Had The Covid-19 Test?

Posted by Sailor on 7/3/20 at 12:49 am
Thinking about finally breaking down and getting the Covid-19 test. Worried about it though since I hear it's painful with them going up your nose. I know some testing sites do a throat test instead of a nose test so I'm thinking that might be a better option.

For those of you who have done it how was it? Was it as bad as I've heard? I've had Sinus issues in the past and have even had Sinus surgery so I'm pretty used to an ENT doctor putting a camera well up my nose. Of course when they do the camera they spray numbing agent in the nose first. If I can handle that would I be able to handle the nose test for Covid-19?

Well looking on google maps there is a Walmart and a Water Tower. I'm guessing the Walmart is the center of the towns social scene and nightlife.
I live in Florida and I'd love for DeSantis to make the order banning NY, NJ and CT residents permanent.

They're the ones who overwhelmingly ruin the state. I believe the majority of our South Florida cases are probably people from NY/NJ/CT who traveled up to those areas and brought it back with them so in my book we still aren't anywhere close to them, especially NYC.
I've been furloughed from my company since the end of April. Obviously with that my 401k has been completely suspended. My ability to contribute to it as well as the company match.
