While Samantha is my alltime favorite, can't let this topic go without posting what is possibly the most posted sideline reporter pic in history...the great Jill Arrington.

Samantha Ponder in her prime when she was Samantha Steele is my GOAT. But seems like Jill Arrington started it all.

You see these guys coming from smaller programs that had no stars or ranked coming out of HS and now they are at least a 3 star in the portal versus a guy 4 or 5 star coming out of HS

Has to be the hardest position to evaluate coming out of high school. Seems like it's the position group we missed on the most 4 and 5 stars. So it makes sense to focus on the portal there and proven players at any level to build an OL. Probably where you see the biggest difference from a 18-19 year old and a 22-23 year old.
Have to at least be a first team consensus All American at some point. Julio was 2nd Team AA.
Should be the start of a ton of Saban Dynasty guys.

Weird thing is...Julio Jones, maybe Saban's most important recruit, doesn't meet the criteria for the college hall of fame.

Moore decided to come back to Oregon. Simpson might end up being the best QB in the draft

Definitely helps Ty, but I was pretty shocked to see Moore returning.

Pretty much everyone had him as the #2 QB going #2 overall.

That's a $50 million GUARANTEED contract with over $30 million signing bonus. Even if he slid a couple spots...what in the freakin world is Oregon giving him to return??? Seems like a truly terrible decision...plus the 27 QB class is going to be deeper.
Ty represents Bama well and it's nice to see a guy actually care about something other than dollars. Him being a captain meant something to him...says alot...he didn't want to just be Carson Beck. To have been a captain and had his handprints in concrete at Denny Chimes...to then go chase the bag with another team would have been everything currently wrong with the game summed up.

That being said...he's generally projected as the 3rd QB on the board no matter what the Rant's scouting dept says...could slide depending on combine, workouts, etc...but right now he's likely projected to go in the early 20s first round. 4 year, 18 million contract roughly...4-5 million signing bonus.

So he's not giving up THAT much monetarily, if anything...although there's always the risk of sliding into day 2 vs the NIL bag guaranteed.

As for what he built. Well, he beat all of our rivals this season and made the quarterfinals of the playoff. No championship, but outside of Georgia and Ole Miss, the best season in the conference.

Yeah, Indiana spanked us...but it's always nice beating Auburn, Tennessee and LSU in the same season.

Yeah, the disturbing thing is our #2 was so unprepared to start that we kept rolling Ty's broken body back out there.

Your backup is the backup for a reason, but the gap in competency can't be THAT severe if your starter gets injured.

Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in 9 years I think...amazing he lasted that long. Consistently good, never great the past decade.

It's also crazy that he's only 53 years old.

Side note...lots of mocks have Ty going to the Steelers. Would be a great landing spot...which means it probably won't happen lol.
ut game going to end just in time for halftime lol

The kneeling for the national anthem enraged me.

Me too...but everyone went nuts during that time period...and still are to some extent. That BS stuff unfortunately infected everything, including sports. Even Saban was out doing BLM marches in 2020 so Najee Harris wouldn't cause an uprising on a loaded team with NC potential. The usuals will downvote, but that was the low point of Saban's career...it was sad and signaled the beginning of the end.
1- College football
2- NFL
3- College Basketball

Watch nothing else...but do enjoy gymnastics meets in person.
Not sure who has the least return on dollars spent...Texas or Oregon.
2 wins in 15 years...by a total of 6 points.

LOL

That Texans defense is a beast...they'll go as far as it can take them. CJ Stroud seems to be regressing somewhat since his big rookie season.

Aaron Rodgers' last pass maybe ever ends up a 51 yard pick six..yikes.

ps...I miss Will Anderson. Last of the great pre NIL Bama defensive legends.

Pretty good.

My favorite of the season is still the "CSI" episode.

Who Do You Have in the Super Bowl?

Posted by Chad4Bama on 1/12/26 at 10:17 am
Not really any team left I'm really pulling for.

Wouldn't mind the 49ers winning it so Mac got a ring after playing a big role during the season...but I think they're out next game. Maybe pull for Demeco and the Texans if they win tonight.

I think it'll be Seattle out of the NFC. AFC more wide open.

Before long they can just plop one of those Tesla robots loaded with the AI knowledge of every football game played for the past 100 years and save that $11 million a year HC salary for the player's pot.

Find a good motivational speaker, ra ra guy for just the halftime speeches and the fundraising circuit...pay him $500k a year and go at it.
Leave it to my generation to just F the sport completely up after 130 years.

I'd love to see the breakdown of funds.

No idea what Bama has done with the revenue generated the past 15 years.

Sure, we'll never be the biggest spenders like Texas, but the program should be far from broke. Hopefully we'll get some sort of guardrails soon, but we've saved millions in not having to pay a HC buyout.

Where's the money? Do we need a forensic audit?

re: How broke is Alabama?

Alabama could completely stop playing football for 2 decades and no other SEC team could catch up...outside of maybe Oklahoma if they had an extended historic run.

We'll be ok.
