How in the hell is this the guy that gets chosen to run it.
Think dart played way better than people are giving him credit for, all things considered. He was a little wild at first, adrenaline was obviously flowing on the first few deep balls, but he settled in well. The interception was bad, but it was expected. Growing pains. other than that, i thought he settled in pretty well. The pass to Henry that should've been a touchdown was a DIME (reminded me of matts pass to pearson in the TN game) and he made a hell of a throw to Trigg on the sideline. Additionally showed that he has some wheels/power in the run game, nothing special but good enough to keep people honest.

Dart's the guy. Sorry if that offends anyone, but he simply is better. Luke will get to start next weekend against a significantly inferior opponent in Central Arkansas. He will look good, but Dart is the better QB. just gives us way more upside at the end of the day
Whoever gets the starting job, I think we can take comfort in having Marcel Reed for the future. He is EXTREMELY underrated on the recruiting sites. I figure its because of his very slight frame, but he will be able to come here next year and redshirt behind whoever starts this year, put on much needed weight.

His deep ball is excellent and he is a perfect fit for Lanes offense. Super quick release with a whippy motion like corral. I am very excited to see Reed here in the coming years. Great arm talent and holds offers from Bama UGA Arkansas. Glad we got him as he seems locked in with Kiffin and Co.

I think kelly is one of the most, if not the most, underrated players on the team. He's a very good blocker and serviceable in the pass game.

My hope for Quinshon Judkins is to be a Tank Bigsby caliber back. Now he may not have the stats given that Kiffin takes a RB by committee approach but he should be a beast

At this point I would honestly be surprised to see the kid ever suit up for us. I hate it but I think David Johnson said that he's not even on the roster for fall camp because he is still rehabbing from his back issues. If we had wolfe and Trigg that would be insane

4 star EDGE Jamarious Brown from Moss Point committed last night.

As of now, we have Suntarine Perkins (#1 player in state), Brown, Brycen Sanders, and Marcel Reed just got bumped to a 4 star. I expect Perkins will be a 5 star at some point, especially if he decommits. Quality is there, now just need quantity, but if we have learned anything I'm expecting a more portal heavy class. Hopefully though, last year's season/recent momentum in recruiting will allow us to be more HS focused. we REALLY need to focus on the NIL aspect of things b/c bigger schools are going to try to pick some of these kids off
Evan Engram was a 3 star, turned into a first round pick
Was probably going to go down to the camp anyways that weekend to get some work done before real season opens. Might just climb in a tree to see what's going on for the hell of it. But yeah, given the fact that I sweat my arse off in January in my climber.....not gonna be fun if I decide to

MS Velvet Buck Weekend: Sept. 16-18

Posted by arsewipe on 7/15/22 at 10:17 am
Sure most of you have seen this, but Mississippi is having a velvet buck season mid September for the first time (bow only). Works out perfectly for me as Ole Miss plays GA Tech that weekend in ATL and there's not a snowball's chance I'm going to that game.

I'm pretty excited about it because it will be cool to see bucks coming in bachelor groups, and it'll be my first velvet hunt, but god damn it's gonna be a sonofabitch climbing in and out of a pine tree in that heat. Talk about sweating mane. Might not even be worth going depending on the weather that weekend

(apologies if someone has already made a thread about this)

If season started tomorrow Luke would be our QB.

that being said the ceiling is substantially higher with Dart IMO. From an arm strength perspective he can stretch the field way more than Luke can

this team will go as the QB room goes. If someone comes out and takes the job, we will be really fricking good. If not, could be a long season down the stretch

Not sure but in my opinion this is gonna be the most talented we have been since Freeze. Don't think that's a necessarily hot take. While it sucks that we don't have a starting QB (think if Matt was a year younger and had to stay this year?) we at least know Dart is talented as hell and Luke is, if nothing, solid. LB is the only other position we will probably take a step back in. Other than that:

Secondary returns starters, added good transfer and HS depth

D Line lost sam but returns quality starters plus Pegues who arguably may be our most important defender this year

O Line returns quality starters and added some solid depth in portal

We have a top 5 running back room in the country, period. Could be the best depending on how Judkins looks (I'm expecting him to fricking eat)

Receiver room lost Braylon and Drum, but we got some really solid transfers and have some up and coming guys from HS. God dammit if we had deion smith...

Trigg is going to be a nightmare. Casey Kelly is underrated?

Don't like to count my chickens before they hatch but I'll do that. 4-0 is easily achievable. Kentucky will be a challenge, but thank god its at home. That's gonna be a lot harder game than people think. Then Vandy. Then Auburn, who we perennially struggle against (you would have to think we get them this year considering everything they lost). IF, and I'm saying IF, we win all those games...we go into Death Valley at 7-0.

and i'll leave it at that.

Most excited I've been for a season in a while. But like I said, can't count chickens especially as an Ole Miss fan. And especially because the second half of our season is going to be fricking brutal. But damn we have a lot to look forward to
I have never been happier to be wrong in my entire life. I 100% gave up after the Bama sweep at home. I thought the team was dead.

When you think about it this is the exact opposite of pretty much every team that Bianco has coached in the past. Normally we kick arse in the regular season and flame out in the post. I am absolutely fine with sucking in conference play as long as we can get in and get hot like we have recently. I just really still can't believe that this team has not lost a game in the postseason yet and in our last three games have outscored opponents 37-6

Obviously I would rather be good all the time but look at Tennessee....beat the dog shite out of everyone (and act like complete tools meanwhile) in the regular szn and then lose at home to ND. As long as we're in Omaha, as Ron White says I don't give a fiddlers frick how we do in regular season play as long as we find our way in. LFG
This or Tim Tadlock. I swear Texas Tech is in Omaha every other year.
Ultimately falls on the coaching staff. How can that not be fixed by this point????
Dude that shite pissed me off. like......is that really our best option in that situation? a guy like wood or tolley cant lay a damn bunt down????

absolutely ridiculous and makes no sense to me. we put the big guy in that has absolutely no chance in beating out a bunt in to bunt...and he bunts into a double play
You make a fair point sir.

Wish the series was here this weekend...weather in Oxford is, quite literally, perfect.
I feel like every team we have played so far either walks a billion guys, makes horrible errors or does some sort of combination. We really won't know how good we are until the first SEC series...kind of wish we had opened with a ranked opponent like Louisville a few years back

Sheeit. Already got two solid defensive players that are gonna contribute a whole lot. Honestly not sure what our scholarship situation is like but I'll take all the talent we can get

Jared Ivey supposed to be enrolling today.

God I hate how excited I am in January for football. We don't typically handle preseason hype well....South Carolina 2009 anyone???????
This game makes me feel a lot like Tennessee did. Horrified. especially since we know AU has a lot better players than TN did. That being said it makes me feel better that we have already played two tough road games and are somewhat experienced going into hostile environments. Who knows what will happen, it's ole miss.

Think things might get rolling here soon. Jordan Allen was at the game this weekend and decommitted from Penn State after. We also had a ton of other kids. Atmosphere was awesome and I think kids are starting to see that

LSU baws, if you want to avoid a cover charge, try going to funky's. It has recently been remodeled and is now more than twice its original size. Right on the corner by rafters and tangos, same alleyway that Library is on.

They rarely charged any cover before but they opened last week after renovating and were telling people they won't be charging cover for a while. Obviously library is the place to go but cover can be out the arse. If you do want to go to library after game try to get a wristband before as it won't be as expensive. anyways enjoy oxford!
damn, you're right dude. I had no idea that game even happened! Thanks for enlightening me on Ole Miss history JetDawg!

dipshit.
Ole Miss vs. LSU. Obviously Ole Miss has state and LSU has Bama/A&M? but the Magnolia Bowl is truly one of the most underappreciated games in college football, IMO. Fanbases strongly dislike each other, great history, fantastic color matchup (here's to hoping we wear red). Let's enjoy some moments from past years shall we?

2009: The Spike Game

Lsu Ole Miss 2009

Houston Nutt (haha) was coaching one of the more talented teams Ole Miss has had as LSU and Les Miles rolled into town ranked #8. Dexter McCluster ran for bout a buck fiddy and even threw a TD pass. In true Ole Miss fashion, the rebels gave up a last ditch 4th and 26 (!) with 9 seconds left. Jordan Jefferson runs down the field, Les tells him to spike it and the rest is history.

2010: Jeremiah Masoli!

Lsu Ole Miss 2010

A year after said talented players departed for NFL, Ole Miss strolled into death valley against #5 LSU without a snowball's chance in hell to win. The Rebels put up a hell of a fight but it was not enough to bring the Tigers down. Brandon Bolden, Scotlandville High's finest ran for 90 and 2 tds on his hometown team. And as a bonus we got this
HOW FKIN EASY ??????

2011: Meh. LSU kneeled on our 3 yard line before halftime

2012: Repeat 2010, but with Bo Wallace
Lsu Ole Miss 2012

Almost identical to the 2010 game, Ole Miss came in without a prayer to win the game. However, one important change had taken place: we had the Freezus. Like him or not, the dude can get his team up for a big game. Donte Moncrief caught 3 tds and Bo played his heart out, but a late PR by Odell Beckham Jr. secured the victory for the tigers. absolutely heartbreaking.

2013: Rebs Finally Get One
Lsu Ole Miss 2013

Zach Mettenberger played pretty shitty and that's about the only reason we won this game as once again, the Rebels didn't hold a candle to LSU talent wise. But this was one of the turning points in Freeze's program and showed that we could compete with the big boys if we just got a little help. JA Raider Andrew Ritter hit a game winner with 6 seconds left.

2014: Uh Oh
Lsu Ole Miss 2014

Probably the loudest atmosphere I have ever been in. Ole Miss came in to town ranked third in the country, and LSU was ranked 24. 7-0 at that point in the season, it looked as if ole miss might have a shot to really contend for the playoff after knocking off Alabama earlier that year. Fear not, Tigers, as Bo Wallace and the Ole Miss offense forgot how to play football and the racous Tiger Stadium crowd shut them down. Tigers won 10-7 in an absolute bloodbath.

From here on out, games have not been as exciting/relevant.

2015: Swag Kelly and the high flying rebel offense shut down Fournette en route to a 38-17 victory

2016: Leonard Fournette bent us over and literally was the reason Deontay Anderson, a 4 star safety out of high school, transferred out of the SEC
Leonard trucks Anderson

2017-2020

I have chosen to just erase those games from my memory, but at least JRP ran for bout two fiddy gainst y'all.

Anywho, here is to one of the most underappreciated rivalries in sports. can someone post that picture of DT Shackelford talking shite with 43 from LSU? one of my favorite football pictures of all time.

And to the tigah fans.....enjoy your stay but kindly GFY. Cheers!

Lots of places in Oxford will not take reservations (don't know the exact list, but I know there are a few). Regardless you need to go to the square early on Friday if you are going to want to get a spot anywhere. City Grocery and Boure are two of the best with nice balconies, weather is going to be great so you can sit outside and drink.

regarding the basketball thing, it's something we have started to do every year called Square Jam. they set up a court on the square and have a dunk contest with ole miss players. it will most likely be pretty packed so even more emphasis on the early part.

Hate that you are staying in Batesville and will have to make the drive. Probably best if your driver stays sober as OPD will literally do just about anything to give DUI tickets (main source of revenue im guessing). Overall should be a fantastic weekend, great weather, and get to relive historic rivalry.

Hearing Miles Battle is practicing at receiver this week
Y'all see what we're doing to the endzones? not sure how I feel about it. TBH kinda seems tacky. obviously its all for arch but eh
also, the only reason that was even a game was because it was in a packed neyland. If that game was in oxford it would have been a damn blowout. Tennessee is no that good. I'm really proud of our guys for going out there in a hostile environment and getting it done.
pearson had his chance tonight to show us what he could do. absolutely shite the bed. single handedly killed two drives. oh well, we won.

but you know what? what tennessee did at the end of the game was some fricking bullshite. throwing shite at our sideline after they obviously didn't get that first down. I get it, i don't like the team we are playing....but could you imagine that shite happening in the Vaught? there's no way. of course, maybe a few dumbasses here and there throwing shite....but that many people? god damn. Tenner proved themselves to be some damn sore losers tonight.

wasn't pretty, but shite i'll take a W. that's all that matters. on to those mofos from baton rouge. LFG
