Can pretty much guarantee that if journalists are doing arithmetic, do not believe a word.

Jennifer Aniston is a moose-faced mid who only got famous for flashing her nipples on a top sitcom. Her personality sucks and it seems like she’s frigid.

LOL, Susan Rice fricked Netflix hard.

It’s interesting because she’s amazingly attractive yet has no sex energy. Add milquetoast Gregory Peck to the cast and you have one of the most sexless romantic movies ever. In f’n Rome of all places.

You rarely see them in local stores here. I order online.

Ron Moore gonna politicize shite just like he did on BSG. Too bad.

The Gentlemen may be the best crime film since Miami Vice in the mid-00’s. It’s overlooked because it’s funny.

Flashback scene was lame.
Agree. It was the only time in 5 episodes where the momentum lagged. Especially since it contrasted with what had been building up towards the trial battle.

DePalma would oscillate between taking on gun-for-hire projects and then his more creepy obsessive personal projects. There's a very good documentary about him directed by Noah Baumbach. He's not as highly regarded as the 70's auteurs today, but he was definitely an artistic and social peer in that time. The documentary is basically a very long interview with him, and he's very entertaining.

Great 80's movie. Hard to get on streaming for a while, but was finally made available a year or so ago. Darlene Fluegel should have had a bigger career. First leading man role for Peterson. Pankow is definitely miscast.

Very underrated. My favorite De Palma movie after Body Double. Besides the usual Hitchcock nods, it's also an homage to the 60's Antonioni film Blow Up, in which a photographer in unsure whether he photographed a murder in Swinging 60's London.
re: Mexican restaurants in Lafayette
Posted by HueyLongJr on 2/17/26 at 9:37 am to NoBoDawg
Agree with you here. Aside from LaFonda, which is its own thing, the Mexican food here is unremarkable Tex-Mex for the most part (including Superior). There are some good Mexican markets out near Scott. There is also a pretty good tortilliera on Johnston, and Super 1 on Ambassador has a lot of Mexican produce and they sell fresh tortillas as well.
Favorite 'washing' idea?

In honor of black Joan of Arc, what's your best idea for race-washing in a movie. I'm fond of an all-white cast for "Motown: The Early Days".

Being known for excellence in WBB is not far from being known for having a leading program in LBGTQ+ studies.
re: Which is better: Collateral or Training Day
Posted by HueyLongJr on 2/11/26 at 9:54 am to boomjosh
From a storytelling and casting perspective, they are about equal. Collateral is a pretty major technical achievement. It's mostly set at night and was shot on digital when digital wasn't quite ready for this kind of effort. But they made it work.

I don’t think it’s necessarily digital vs. film stock. Collateral was shot on digital and looks great. I agree with your general comments.
re: Godfather 3
Posted by HueyLongJr on 2/9/26 at 1:53 pm to parrotdr
The plot was too convoluted. The Vatican bank stuff was just distracting. There was some bad casting. Hamilton and Sofia Coppola. Also the opera singing son subplot was stupid. Between casting and story, the movie was doomed.
