re: Any of you baws ever broken your collarbone?
Posted by Woolfpack on 3/3/26 at 1:01 pm to VolsOut4Harambe
Broken collarbone doesn’t seem like too good an idea.
It’s been said, if the US kept boots on the ground in Iraq after desert storm 1991 we would have been welcomed by the people as liberators. We did not and those who stood up against saddam were slaughtered when we left. People remember that kind of stuff. And they were not quick to rise up the second time around.
To me it’s not so much if we need to put boots on the ground. It’s if there is a plan to win this thing in short order. If the Iranian people are unarmed and not trained to use military equipment I would imagine ground troops will be needed.
Seems establishing safe areas for the Iranian resistance would be a noble task. Let the Iranian resistance do the dangerous checkpoints and we can hang back, dug in, in case the IRGC shows up. Then we can hold them off until air power can take them out.
ETA It’s all in the way that you do it.

They should play the king of queens next.

her seatmate was the nation's 46th president. Biden set his hand on her cup to steady it, then met her gaze with a hello as she took her seat.
Definitely thought it said “Biden set his hand on her seat, palm up, as she sat down”.
It’s hard to beat the explorers of the world before or soon after air travel became widespread. Even into the 60s and 70s most of the world was mostly closed off from other parts of the world.
I don’t know if he’s the most interesting ever, but Doug Casey has lived a very interesting life. After college in the 60s, which he says was a waste of time, he set out to meet as many world leaders as he could. Interestingly, Bill Clinton was a classmate in college. He had a step by step approach. All part of a plan. He knew how to play polo so he would fly into a foreign land and set up interviews with lawyers. He would pitch his business idea and drop cues about how he would like to get some polo in while in country, knowing that only the most elite players polo. He would do that until he got an invite to a polo club. Playing polo with the guys, and being an American businessman, would get him invited to dinner. From there he would often get a meeting with the country’s leader, or at least someone high up the ladder. He would do this all on a shoestring budget, until he authored a book, the international man, that paid pretty well.

Today’s blue jeans, with the stretchy fabric, are so comfortable it’s gotta be people making a statement by wearing pajamas in public.

Election integrity.
Problem is, we normies don’t really know how deep the cart tentacles reach. It appears they aren’t targeting tourists. Most likely under strict orders to not harm tourists. (There was a strict kill order for anyone involved with harming Americans for a while and I would assume that still stands)
Does US forces step up the tempo in the coming weeks? Definitely possible. Would that equate to violence against tourists? Surely there will be less tourists by that point so you will be, by default, more likely to be in the cross hairs.
If you do decide to go, I’d practice saying ‘yo Holmes’ and ‘what’s up esse’ like a loco gringo. Surely that will carry some panache.

NYC is famous for keeping the wheels turning through snow storms. Of course snow slows things down and most people are off from work but NYC should not shut down for snow, ever.
re: Who here would support Trump getting another term ...

Trump should be limited to 2x8 year terms. For all the halftards that means yes Trump 2028 and Trump 2032.

re: Chief Baw of FDA says everything should be OTC

9 times out of 10 you can get what you need OTC if you ask the pharmacist what will help with whatever issue you are having.
Ive never experienced one that seemed to mind answering a few questions and suggesting an OTC product.
Add in sites like web md and now AI and most conditions probably shouldn’t require a doctor visit.
I’d think it would be a step towards reducing medical expenses for the average person.

They certainly carry a lot of resentment towards the modern day choices for earning a living.
This isn’t necessarily exclusive of our city dwelling white collar classes. We just might find that all the people saddled with student loans will fit neatly into this category. Does it matter if they worked real hard to find themselves in the same position as Billy Joe from the outskirts of Olney Illinois with 2 DUIs and a slight meth problem? Will they be willing and able to adapt? Will they be willing to wash and dry robots for $6.25 an hour 60 hours a week?

People who refused to adapt who wanted the easy route created that.
Hard to argue with that but I would point out that for the entire human history, we had very little rapid adapting to do.
People for millennia did what their elders taught and they then handed down their hard earned lessons.
War might be an exception to that rule but I’m not sure they didn’t rely on the hunters of the group.
It’s only been a couple hundred years since humans have needed to adapt in any meaningful way during their lifetimes.

And we left huge swaths of destruction and despair all across our beautiful country in its wake.
Not saying we should fight against AI or robots but at the very least, the AI revolution will create a chasm that will need to be crossed. It may well be all rainbows and unicorns on the other side but not everyone is going to make it across.
