We were in the ME for 3 weeks in January it was very nice and safe. In Saudi Arabia we were mainly out in the undeveloped scenic areas for photography.In the UAE we were out at a 5 star resort in the deep desert. We did visit both Dubai and Abu Dhabi both were good.
