Protect liberties. Accept that people will say things you don’t like to hear.

That’s because they understand this judge’s idea of peaceful protesters is likely different from reality- because were it not, there’d be no reason for such a proclamation.
Specific examples are better than vague statements.
One specific example would be Filming ICE officers. That is not obstruction.
Yet ICE was threatening those who were filming with arrest.

Is it true that the bill would allow for blood draws of those accused, but not convicted of a crime?
If so, that would be a pretty significant thing to omit.

No. Are you implying that no judicial review of invoking the Insurrection Act is possible?
Or that no review of the specific actions of those troops is possible?

The Whiskey Rebellion and hunting down Aaron Burr don’t have any correlation to Minnesota.
There is a high legal threshold for “insurrection” or “rebellion”. And protests are not necessarily riots.
But the Insurrection Act is certainly a hot button topic today for Constitutional Scholars and Lawyers today. Many are suggesting reforms are needed to restore the appropriate balance of power as was originally intended.
Also keep in mind that in 2025, The Supreme Court ruled that Trump had no legal justification for sending National Guard troops into Chicago.

Yes. As I stated in another thread. People are having a hard time looking outside of their own interests in the immediate short term.
We went from: “Don’t Tread on Me”
To: “It’s ok - Tread on Me”, “But Tread on Them First”

We need the Insurrection Act
First you need the Founding Fathers to explain to you the purposes of The Declaration of Independence and The Constitution.
Trump’s ideas are more and more isolationist.
What advice is he being given?
The kind of people who are talking to him on a daily basis are giving him some very closed minded ideas.

So the point of the thread got blown up… and we’re back to this. Cool.
Ok this is a tangent that might be getting misconstrued.
Noem made a big deal about her intent in her initial press conference. Now all the arguments here are that intent doesn’t matter.
My issue was really with Noem, and not your arguments. So I could’ve started a different thread on Noem’s disinformation.
Similar to calling a bruise “Internal bleeding”…
If the shooting was by the book and justified, then we don’t need all of this BS. That’s all.

It matters to me, Sam.
I don’t want you getting killed by a cop at a traffic stop when you were not threatening his life, and then have Secretary Noem say you were trying to run him over.

i dont know what Kristi Noem has to do with this or why she disagrees with me, but i'm right and you are wrong. if she agrees with you, then she is wrong too.
Just that the intent of the driver was a primary focus of the press conference. That’s all I was saying.
It was relevant to the govt narrative before they knew all the video existed.
There’s a lot more discussion regarding the big picture, outside of just pure law enforcement protocols related to moving vehicles.

her intent is irrelevant in this case.
Kristi Noem disagrees with you.
She was trying to drive away, not kill ICE officers. That’s dumb as hell.
No doubt the bullet shower her or any other American what happens when they piss off the authorities….

Poor widdle guy got an ouchie. Good thing he shot that scary middle aged woman in the face 3 times. We’re all very lucky to have survived her rampage
But he got big mad and called her a “furkin bitch” for that bruise. He showed her who is boss all right.
Seems like the Govt. Narrative already changed from the original press conference stating a deranged woman tried to run him over…

Is that a fancy way of saying he got a bruise?

You’re going to have to clarify a couple of things.
These raids?
Happening forever?
Serious answer… Yes. It’s different. This isn’t the typical roundup at Home Depot.
It feels different when there are masked people pointing guns at people in their cars on neighborhood streets.
The American Public sees a much different, much more indiscriminate, much sloppier and less precise operation than what has been seen in previous years.
