You are correct, especially in small towns where there may only be a few decent players per age group.
Happened with both my boys, even though I swore up and down I wouldnt let em do travel ball till they were 12. But they both got tired of not even being able to play catch with anyone on their REC team.

By your logic 80% of the college football teams shouldn't play any games.. since 80% of them have no chance of ever making the playoff...
If the bowl games are so "meaningless' why are the rest of the games not viewed as the same?

I get the optics of it would be bad but still crazy a team can win their conference and not make it but a team from same conference can jump in and be in the playoffs

I know this will get down voted but miami should not be in over duke. If you can't win your conference you shouldn't be in over the conference champ.

Isn't that just about every year now. I dont think it's a bad year for hiring cycle, it's lack of candidates people think are qualified. All successful coaches started some where, can LSU find the diamond in the rough?
Everyone says lane would kill it, but most said Kelly would to, heck he had one of the highest win rates in CFB.
You never know with these coaches who will succeed and who will fail...

I was originally in the group that didn't understand the "doesnt fit" narrative. However now i get it, but probably not in the way most intended it. LSU used to be smash mouth football, big mean guys on the lines and hard nose running tailback. They didn't take any crap on defense and would go lights out win or lose. That rubbed off on the fans and the fans became loud and rowdy and rough. Now they are soft and like the article said their identity is meh. It's not that he is a northerner (doesn't help) but it's he lost what made LSU football LSU football.

I seem to remember on here after the LaTech game, everyone was talking about how good LaTechs defense was and there was nothing wrong with our offense.

I am pleased, but we the writing on the wall if the offense cannot at least extend drives and give the defense a breather... Florida had the ball for 15 minutes longer than LSU.. thats an entire quarter.. if you don't think that's a problem then you don't know what you are talking about
