You’re an idiot then. Brian Kelly would be an elite hire. All he does is win and getting top notch recruits through the rigorous ND academic standards, and to South Bend, Indiana, isn’t the easiest task in the world.

I am just as disappointed as anyone else now that it appears we won’t land Lincoln Riley (slight understatement). But remember…it wouldn’t be the first time a coach made a similar denial in the heat of a press conference moment. It also wouldn’t be the first time that in the middle of a negotiation - one party said to the other that “there was no deal.”
But this assertion that the world is coming to an end is ridiculously overblown. If it isn’t Riley…there are about 4-5 coaches that have yet to a sign a new contract. Aranda, Luke F, Lane Kiffin, Napier…they’re all on the board. I ”feel” strongly that at least of 2 of those 4 would take the LSU job in a minute. All those guys are great coaches…and if Ed O and Les Miles can win natty’s, they definitely can. There’s others Woodward may be talking to, like Rhule, who could be the guy he is so excited about. We don’t really know.
Scott may have swung for the fences, but maybe this was always a long shot, and y’all didn’t manage your expectations accordingly. Maybe you blew a narrative out of proportion, and anything less than a unicorn hire now seems like a colossal failure in your eyes. That’s not Woodward’s fault.
It’s very possible that we will hire our future national championship HC…his name doesn’t have to be Lincoln Riley. We aren’t interviewing these guys, we don’t see their HC manuals. Trust Woodward.
