By not being a weak parent. We didn't do tablets either, it's been a non issue because it was never introduced. We have a home phone they use when needed. Works wonders.

Sounds like you're the type who let them on tablets so get through a meal out and got them a phone under 10 so they can raise them instead of you.

I opened up separate checking accounts with the same bank.

Have one for a vacation condo we have, upcoming car purchase, travel account, checking...it helps me mentally and physically moving the money.

529's for the kids' school.

I have a UTMA for daughter's wedding. Not much, 50 bucks or so a month. Started it with like 3k. In grade school. Hell by that time it might make a deposit for a venue.

I'm exiting the rental game. The expenses are high and don't have to worry about tornadoes with the stock market. Sure, goes up and down but wanting to reduce my hassle factor in my life.
