So. slump is real
Yeah, the same thing happened in regionals against Ar Little Rock last year.
It's a ball or it's a line drive

It's a slogan of Jay Johnson. I'm sure he'll get the offense back to that mentality after the last few games.
Just my observation, but a lot of guys have been really dropping their back shoulders and swinging for the fence.
Outside of hitting, it's great to see our pitching staff have a nice weekend and see Schmitt put together another nice outing!

LSU isn't in his top 8 because he's not in On3's top 1,000 overall players.... or top 80 RBs.

Brown helped himself a lot in the return game vs. Houston.
The post wasn't about Jay. He shouldn't be questioned. The post was about there being no excuse for Dar Dar making 2 routine errors at an easy position.
A postion that we even let John Pearson get reps at in the Fall.

Apparently not everyone.
We always played with heels against the outfield grass

That's why it's harder than 2B
Look up the stats for any team, college or pro, and you'll see their errors happen at SS and 3B way more than 2B

dude, MLB hall of famers make errors at 2B. no fricking way legion kids are staying anywhere close to perfect
Yeah in 162 games. Compare their errors to the SS and 3B.
I showed you where a guy went from 25 at 3rd to 6 at 2nd in 40 games played.
In legion, we probably played 25 games against a lot of right handed hitters and I played a cake position.
My favorite thing to do was a play with guys in 1st and 3rd. If he tried to steal, sometimes I'd cut off the throw in front of the bag to bust the guy at home... it worked in high school a lot.
Yeah, I forgot about that part. I felt like I had to cover a lot since 2B covered with right handed batters. Sometimes I cheated a little closer to the bag.
I used to love working with the pitcher to pick guys off at 2nd. We used to have hand codes and then count to 3, by that time the ball was right over the bag.

so you were the greatest defensive 2B to ever play the game?
If high school and legion count :rotflmao:
I don't remember many guys at all making errors at 2nd over like 15 years of baseball.
I remember TONS of errors on SS and 3B and they usually cost teams the game. In a lot of cases, if teams and pitching were close to being even, the team with the better SS/ 3B usually won.

I agree that 2B can be handled pretty easily. I played 2B in high school at 6’2” & all I had to do was dive to knock a ball down with plenty of time to throw over to 1B
As long as you charge the ball a little, there's always plenty of time to make plays unlike other positions.
Going to your left, even diving, you just had to stop the ball. Going right is a little tougher but if you can't set your feet, you just adjust your throw to aim a few feet above and to the left of the 1B and the ball will drop and tail right to him.
Turning and feeding for double plays was also really easy if you put in any work at all, especially for someone who's played SS.

If you played you wouldn't have made such a stupid thread.
How's it stupid? I just showed you one of the only guys I played with went from 25 errors in a year at 3rd to only 6 at 2nd base.
I did basically the same thing in high school.
