Its just more short term thinking. Unfortunately we as a society have goldfish like attention spans.
Its why a lot of people can't see further than this week and why we continue to elect these politicians that are just the worst people and don't care at all for the American People.

For politicians, police officers, any public “servants,” the penalty for crimes should automatically be double.
You put that uniform on or walk into those places for power, justice, etc., you should be held to a MUCH higher standard and the penalties should therefore match.

re: Will Universal, High Income Work?
Posted by Laugh More on 4/16/26 at 11:26 pm to AlterEd
As long as time exists, this will not work I think.
Even if we get to a point where someone can achieve some great task in 30 seconds, that time will be monetized to absurd amounts.
Time will become a currency. And what about incentives for humans?
These realities people foresee rarely taken the human element into account.
I could be way off base, but I don’t think universal income will ever be as effective as people believe.

I don’t want to see him win, but I do want to see him exposed on the national stage when he runs.
He is just slimy enough to turn people to him though, so he is dangerous.
In a non-fricking idiotic society, that slimeball would be nowhere near power.

Sounds like there’s potential for some bias here. I’m looking forward to thoughtful discussions from the left on how this is bad and could be weaponized…

While I get what you’re saying, it’s at least an indication of his beliefs and (hopeful) voting record.
He could have NOT joined those things but this is a statement of what he believes and I respect that, especially from a politician.

We’ve monetized fraud for so long. No it’s time to monetize bringing fraud into the light.
Idk if this is done altruistically or not, the end result will hopefully be good.

re: Trump Reforms Cut Legal Immigration by 50 percent
Posted by Laugh More on 4/14/26 at 8:58 pm to FMtTXtiger
It’s definitely both. There are so many people here “legally” for bullshite reasons.
We need to take care of our own.
I just got off a plane earlier and the analogy fits: We need to put our own mask on before we put the mask on other countries.
Get our house in order and then we can talk about taking other people in (legally and SELECTIVELY)

This is where rational people prevail and laugh at people who care about this.
Of course it’s not some random person. We all know this, but it’s “the other side,” so you have to be outraged.
Remember when Biden and Harris would walk through places or when Harris kicked an entire restaurant out so she could bus her own paid actors in?
I member and did nothing more than laugh
