My nephew is 23 and has never stepped behind the wheel of a vehicle and claims he never will. He takes the greyhound to visit his dad in Texas and Ubers in town and he typically walks to work.

My son is a teen and a couple years from driving age but he’s eager and excited to drive and not having to rely on me or his mom to get him places.

By the time he scored there were probably 40 people on the field. Absurd that it wasn’t flagged. I get that it’s a heads up play, but it annoys me that it’s lauded as this incredible feat, when the Rams offense, Saints defense and both team’s special teams were on the field when it happened.

Playing HORSE with my son in the driveway.

Walking through Lowe’s or Home Depot to brainstorm home projects.

Very sad and frustrating to see how thoroughly it wrecks a person and everything that makes them a productive humans.

I vaguely remember seeing a preview for it when we saw another movie. It looked interesting but unremarkable as I recall.

I try to imagine what people in 1983 thought. “Messy Marvin from the Hershey Syrup commercials is in a new family Christmas movie about BB guns. Also it takes place in the 1930s and is directed by the guy who directed Porkys!”

Probably a tough sell. :lol:

The “Yeah, but no…” to start the quote tells me you are a keen observer of Bobby Hebert. He also uses “No, but yeah…” when he wants to mix it up.

Because once he’s committed to a rival, you have to get him out of the building because you can’t trust trust that anything he’s doing is in the best interest of the team that will be part of his competition the moment he steps off a plane in BR.

It’s the same reason why when you give your “notice” at jobs in competitive industries, they lock your PC, take your keys and phone and escort you to the door immediately.

Though it seems logical to the players of OM to allow his to finish what he started, you can’t allow him in the building the moment he commits himself to a competitor. It’s business and I’d honestly hope LSU would do the same if the tables were turned.

I recall reading that one of the big differences is that orthodontics is a relatively American enterprise. Sure it’s available all over, but most societies outside the US don’t slap braces on their kids when they are 12 years old as a standard practice. Think about the number of kids you knew who had braces when you were young. It seemed like most of the kids I knew had braces at some point - and that was 35 years ago. Most of my son’s friends have had them as well. Very few “perfect” teeth naturally, it seems.

My grannie had the 1983 - 1986 Wishbooks saved for me and my brothers to peruse whenever we came over and stayed with her and my paw paw. I had the action figure and sports stuff pages basically memorized.

Such profound memories.

My wife had one as a kid and one day she came home with it in a box of old stuff from her old childhood house. I pulled the string and it didn’t retract, so we thought it was broken and put it down on the dining room table.

About 2 hours later, we were sitting in the living room watching a movie and we heard a creaking sound from the dining room and a demonic sounding voice say “Listen to the cat…. RAAAAWWWRRRRR”.

It took us a second to realize that whatever was holding it back when I pulled the string earlier had broken loose and let out an animal message from the bowels of hell.

For a second our blood ran cold and we thought we’d soon be murdered by a demon cat.

Or addressing the cause of the very real “male loneliness” epidemic. Many men are single after 30 by choice, but many are single because they are overlooked and ignored by women who are only open to dating/marrying a very narrow subset of men.

Or addressing the vilification of male masculinity that’s occurred in the past decade and a half.
