It’s the end of the season and all the games are out of the way.

LaNorris Sellers for me. I’ve never been so mad that a QB escaped a whole arse dogpile 5-6 times in a game.
Great record

Lose first round

Braves formula for 40 years
That’s what has been stewing in my mind for a while. 20 years from now, some goober(s) from Alabama are gonna be so stupid rich just because it was their destiny and the university was just a stepping stone on the way there.

You don’t have a run like Nick Saban does and not reap some kind of long term reward from the national branding it brought. Whether some bros out west just wanted to be along for the ride or what, I find it hard to believe that out of all of Nick’s pro football players and all the out of state tuition in the last 15 years that no hedge fund manager boosters or multi billion dollar net worth company exec doesn’t pop up.

That’s 15 years of on average 8 prime time games with just under 8 million people watching every time.

Thats 3x the US population watching Alabama football over the course of Nick Saban’s prime tenure at Alabama.
quote:

We use to have a UA for Alabamians but it was when our state did more to fund the operations. The decision to pivot to out of state enrollment was a response to post dot-com bubble proration of the state government budget. It happened all over the nation in the aughts. Cost were passed to the consumer in higher education so K12 education (that everyone uses) wouldn’t have a noticeable and politically untenable degradation. This is also why Biden, a finance sector machine senator, championed making student loans exempt from bankruptcy in 2005. Everyone could see debt for college was going to explode, so it could no longer be protected in the way it could when tuition was something you could afford while working a job and usually only need small amounts of loans to supplement costs.

So you’re saying it’s a minor coincidence that Alabama just so happened to become an ultra national brand late 2000s while enrollment dispersal was quietly being overhauled by that walking corpse
Greg Byrne and the administration has Californified Alabama in recent years to the point the student body isn’t even mostly in state tuition.

However, one thing I noticed is a lot of portal guys lately have been either home grown Alabama dudes that never got the chance because of no offers or guys who Alabama was their favorite team growing up and they were from another state.

Probably more intentional than coincidental by the staff but nevertheless, I’ve always been a fan of a core of in state guys that understand the environment around the program that have the drive to play for the script A rather than transcendent talents thrown together and told to go ball.

These dudes don’t have lots of stars by their names but hearing how excited some of them are to play for Alabama brings me back to the old days of 2008 when it was just 90% true southeast guys from Alabama, Mississippi, Florida and Georgia. Since Tua came along Alabama has this strong presence in Southern California that will be there for a generation or so before it fizzles out or USC gets a lockdown coach like Pete again.
Lane Kiffin a perennial 10-2 coach. He can have all the talent in the world and he’ll never truly win anything of note.
Just so happens to be the same for billionaire NIL Texas longhorns :casty:

Indiana is Mark Cuban’s little experiment.

I’d rather Miami win than Indiana.

Yeah. The exact same team 1 year before was hot arse until they got Joe Brady to run their offense.

lol no.

LSU 2019 wasn’t even that special. They had close games against 3 teams and blew out everybody down the stretch which is why everybody remembers them so much. Helps that JJ and Chase are doing well in the league.

He also had a drive where he was 0-fer.

Kee is the way.
Makes too much sense.

USA has had a heavy hand in Latin America lately and an IU vs. Miami has Latin America written all over it.

First CUBAN lineage Heisman winner? Mark CUBAN funding IU? Miami basically South America the city.

You look at any Hispanic person on social media and they HATE shite libtards for destroying their country’s economy and society. This perfectly parallels IU taking on sissy liberal Oregon and removing them from the CFP.

Ultimately Miami wins because as much as billionaire alum Mark Cuban has money, he’s still a libtard and Miami has the power of cocaine and Marco Rubio on their side.

God bless America

Lane is allergic to championships bitch.

It took an Arkansas tight end lobbing a football backwards on 4th down and a mile to a running back for Alabama to even get into the SECCG in 2015 to make the CFBP and he got kicked off the team in 2016 right before the 2016 NC loss.

Dude sucks. People only like him because of aura and hype moments.

I hate Beck

Punchable arse Angel Reese arse Ice Age motherfricker lookin arse face.

Typical Kirby Smart recruit. :casty:
Alabama hasn’t had a good, solid #12 in years, dude.
I think we’ll see this upcoming year. Alabama will be doing a Florida State type patch job with just about the entire roster so Kalen will have HIS team. It’s about HIS coaching job. He mostly outcoached every team he played this year except Indiana.

I’m done with Saban strays being all over this teams DNA. Time for DeBoer coaching and DeBoer players.
Say what you want, but he’s shown improvement every year and funny enough, people seem to forget that Saban had 2 losses in a row (one of which was ugly ugly) at the end of 2008, his 2nd year before his breakout season the very next year.

That Indiana loss was a fantastic exorcism for this program. Based on what Alabama is seeing in the portal, none of our OL or DL wanted to be at this university and they played like it. Time to get guys that finally fit the scheme and have a quarterback to match it. Alabama had buy in this year but it seemed to be a very shallow buy in. I believe Kalen was still coming into himself here and the core players he recruits still need 1 more year to acclimate to his style.
Alabama is having yet another mass exodus from a good bit of key position groups that for whatever reason, mostly did horrible down the stretch. This was patched up by fantastic pre-injury play by Simpson but the band-aid started peeling off once he wasn’t able to hide what was underneath.

Courtney already does amazing things don’t get me wrong. But really hitting the portal and getting top quality guys this time around will tell me what he’s made of under pressure. I don’t think this offseason will be as tough on Deboer as it will Courtney to be honest. He’s really gotta crunch numbers, snag good players, revamp Alabama’s roster and get guys aligned with Grubb and Kalen’s offense (however futile that may be).

If we can just nail the O-line in the portal I will be FINE. Defense was hit and miss most of the season due to horrendous gap discipline by the secondary so uhhhhhh whatever happens to the linebacking corps I couldn’t give less of a frick about cause that’s just coaching. Will definitely miss Lawson though. What a god damn mother fricking dawg when he was locked in.
Grubb has a lot of the icing but none of the cake, no pun intended.

Ole Miss lost your current coach and upgraded
