We should have never traded for Queen, right now we'd have a top 5 pick.

You have no way of knowing this. They could have had 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 9, or 10. And the numbers say it's more than likely 7, 8, 9, or 10.

We had a better shot in the lottery last year. No dice.

Gotta love the logic from this teams sorry fans:

1. We suck, we need changes.
2. Changes being made.
3. Why are these people being fired? Must keep them.

By all reports, LIV is fully funded for 2026 & expecting no changes to their season.

I would say that unless the PIF comes out and confirms what LIV is saying, LIV Golf is a week-by-week thing. O'Neill does not have a ton of credibility right now.

They must’ve gotten an 11th hour commitment from PIF to finish out the year

I disagree. I think LIV was informed that PIF was pulling out at the end of the year and it got erroneously reported as an immediate withdrawal.
If I were a LIV golfer or employee, that message would not give me the warm fuzzy feeling. No message on a commitment from PIF after this season. In fact, it never actually denies the reporting from today, just says that the media speculates.
ESPN

This is the ESPN story on the subject. LIV's message to its golfers is that the season is going forward. It does not address the rumors of PIF's reported departure from LIV (and other sports) at the end of the year.
Remember the Saudis also just put millions of dollars into the Paramount purchase of Warner.

I’m surprised if they’re out on Formula One. I would have thought they’d get out of all these other projects with no ROI and refocus that attention back to Formula One and Premier League? Those may not show the returns they’re looking for either though? I don’t keep up with them.

F1 pulled their race over issues in other regional counties not their own. I don't blame the Saudi's for being mad at that.

this is complete nonsense. His playing legacy is the same it's always been. He gets to go to the Masters every year he wants to, he can still hang out with the same people...what else is there?

Well, for starters one day Tiger and Phil were gojng to most likely be honorary starters at Augusta. I doubt that happens in either case now.

But at least people like Tiger. Phil is going to succeed Greg Norman in the "nobody likes me, everybody hates me, I'm going to eat some worms" club of older golfers.

Let me put it another way. Bob Costas says he once told Howard Cosell, "Every member of this industry (broadcast media) should look up to you as a role model, but no one does and it's your fault." People should look up to Phil (and Tiger too) as they did Arnold and Jack, but they won't, and it's all self-caused. Tiger did it to himself because he has a problem with substance abuse. Phil did it to himself because he's Phil and cannot get out of his own way.

At least guys like Rory and Scottie are seeing this first-hand and hopefully will not make the same mistakes.

I’m assuming it’s average viewers per event/game or something like that. I can prob buy that if that’s the case

NFL: 18.7 Million average, 125.6 million peak (Super Bowl)
College Football: 6.9 Million average, 30.1 Million peak (CFP Final)
Golf: 2.7 Million average, 13 Million peak (Masters)
MLB: 2 Million average, 16.1 Million peak (World Series)
NBA: 1.8 Million average, 10.3 million peak (NBA Finals)

In 10 years or less, nobody will remember anything about Liv in particular the team bullshite. Nobody will remember who won any tournaments, nobody will remember who the money leaders were, nobody will remember anything about Liv other than it being a shitstain on the tighty whities of pro golf. Quite the legacy.

This is correct. Does anyone remember anything about CART when they broke away from IndyCar, other than the fact that they came trickling back 5 years later?

You think a private equity firm just gave them donations without projecting an ROI? Don’t even know how those firms exist and operate? They’re not in the business of charity

Trey Wingo just did a deep-dive in sports viewership in the US. #1 was the NFL. #2 was College Football. #3 was the PGA Tour. They are in excellent shape.

I imagine a lot of golf agents are having the worst days. Can’t imagine they ever sign to many more players. Talk about steering your players in the wrong direction

It's one thing for the guys who signed up at the beginning. No one knew how things would shake out. But it didn't take all that long to figure out that LIV was never going to be able to compete long term with the PGA Tour. The trouble in getting a TV deal should have been the first sign of major problems. The guys who came to LIV later after the issues were pretty obvious, that's on them and their agents.

The general consensus of most of the people who cover golf is that this is DOA.

I agree with this.

Rory is great, he didn't do this:

List of courses designed by Old Tom Morris

Carnoustie, Murfield, and Royal Portrush are on the list. He also did work on St. Andrews and Prestwick.

Can’t imagine how much work will have to be done to right all those contracts with players, sponsors, venues and other stuff.

Wasn't most of the player money paid up front? Wasn't that one of the perks...the golfers got their money as a signing bonus. If so, that money is gone already.

As far as sponsors and venues, there are always outs in those contracts. If PIF is pulling the plug now, then it means it's cheaper to cut bait than to fish for the rest of the year.
