Do we really want to get into this?

Ok...would there even be a University of Mississippi without all the rich uptown New Orleans families that send their kids there?
About 25 years ago I was travelling and my putter broke. I went to Wal Mart and spent about 20 bucks on an el-cheapo putter just to hold me over on that trip.

It's still my putter.

Lesson: don't overthink it.

I'll say this for the Times Pic.

They have had some New York Post level headlines regarding the Saints over the years.

I doubt the Atlanta Urinal-Constipation would ever have such a humorous headline for the Falcons.

Love for CKM.

The AFC North nearly made me spit out my Diet Coke.

Yea and Rahm said he would never play on LIV.

I’m just telling you what people who work for the tour are saying. They were right about brooks, and my gut says they will be correct about Rahm.

They are all under contract. They can't move right now, and the PGAT knows it. Even though they said it was a "one-time offer", the Tour's plan for Brooks is a message to the others: when the time comes there can be a path for you.
quote:

Y’all are really overreacting to a guy who is no longer in the top 150 of professional golf rankings & was the 31st ranked player on LIV last year

He's ranked that low in the OWGR? Gee, I wonder why.

As far as his tournament play goes, Brooks has always been a very weird player. He has by far the fewest total tournament wins for a guy who has won 5 majors. He is truly a majors or bust player. He's won more often on LIV, but while on Tour he had 5 majors, 4 other PGA Tour wins, 2 Japan and 1 in Europe. That's crazy.
quote:

Marco Penge and Si Woo reportedly turned down 8 figure offers to join LIV in order to stay on the PGA tour.

That means that either (I) the word on the street is the competitive product is so bad that some guys are willing to turn down $10m to not play there, (II) part of the 8 figure offer is equity take in the LIV teams which guys are starting to realize is worthless or (III) the PGA equity thing is real enough that guys are thinking the money will be more or less a wash down the road.

Probably some combination of the three. But regardless I think a big reason LIV has had so much trouble poaching established PGA players the past couple of years is the establishment of the equity program. The players at least seem to think it’s pretty valuable.

Most golfers still want to play in majors, and it's almost impossible to qualify for majors while on LIV unless you carry with you some qualifications upon joining.. That's why they are toast in the long run unless they can get OWGR points for their events.
quote:

Except it’s not.

- Gets 9 figures for signing with LIV
- but gets “penalized” by not getting 9 figures in equity from PGA Tour… for 5 years.

…so it’s a wash, he still has 9 figures in the bank, but I guess he doesn’t have 200 mil? He already made his money, he’ll be fine

It's being reported as a penalty but it's not.

Keeping him out of the equity program for 5 years is a way to equalize his past LIV earnings with current PGA Tour earnings. That way, players who come back would not enjoy a financial benefit for joining LIV over the guys who stayed. It's the only way the PGAT players would ever let LIV guys back on tour. That issue I would guess is the biggest issue in any potential PGAT-LIV agreement in the future.

I just don’t care that much about football anymore. College football was suppose to be the pure form alternate to the NFL. In college, these kids would bleed the colors of the school they played for

You are taking time out of your day to not only read a college football recruiting board but you are posting to it, yet you claim you don't care.

I know you think this makes you sound like one of the cool kids, but it really just makes you sound like an idiot and a liar.
quote:

Phil was on a path to be a masters honorary starter, media darling until his death, etc etc and now he is completely black listed by the game

First, Augusta National doesn't care what anyone thinks. If they want to make him an honorary starter, they will.

Second, that's so far in the future (at least 20 years) that no one knows if anyone will care about all of this at that point.
Question about Bryson: does the PGA Tour still have strict rules about things like personal podcasts? That was one of his big beefs when he left, and he makes a lot off of his podcast.

The Saints are officially in the buy mode, not sell.

No receipts attached to this and the account has few followers so it's more than likely excrement, but it has enough traction to have made the Locked on Canes podcast.

Dear diary, I think I’m over college football. I’m a mid tier booster at UGA. Spent more than I probably should have since I graduated and watched football every Saturday for 30 years(some of you have seen my melts lol).

What has me at the “I don’t give a shite” point is our 1st string rb threatening to go to Ohio state.

Individually I don’t really care about his decision but this system is so broken.

I’d love to go back to giving guys 10k in a McDonald’s bag.

Rant over.

I bet you think the NFL is dying too.

Quarterback is the key.

Yes, they are well coached. Yes they have a good roster and given the information on this thread a roster that the current coach did not recruit but inherited.

But they have a great college quarterback. Mendoza is what has separated Indiana from the field to this point. He is better than Moore and way better than Simpson, at least at this level.

However, now they face a different challenge. Carson Beck is a veteran and battle tested. His years of top level experience should level the field. He will not fold and wilt under the pressure the way that Simpson and Moore did. This should be a fun game to watch.

One of these is eventually going to make it to court, the contract won’t hold up, and we’ll be back to total chaos.

I think we didn’t want to take the risk. LSU played it safe here, but the court scenario will eventually play out with a non-QB transfer & these Rev share contracts will be proven to have no teeth. Just a matter of time.

For the record, I don’t like it — but these cases always go the players’ way.

The player called uncle, but I don't think a student's transfer rights should be something that is negotiable. I've always believed student athletes should have the same rights and responsibilities as any student of a university, which includes the right to transfer.

It's all about the Quarterback, baby

Miami has gone as far as they have because they have the QB with the most experience. That was a veteran drive at the end by Beck.

Tomorrow we find who the actual best QB in college football is.

In either case, the championship will be the most talented QB versus the most experienced QB.

Good quarterbacks are so rare in college football. It's no wonder this playoff has gone the way it's gone.

It's no wonder Schefter makes the big bucks. He must have left no stone unturned in going through his sources to be able to post this story.

It's embarrassing that he thinks that this is newsworthy on January 7.

Mendoza & Nuss???? How did his agent not consider this?

Someone's been smoking, either me or this guy's dad. Has anyone watched Alabama play this year and said to themselves, "Self, that there is a first round NFL draft pick at QB>"
