Champagne and supreme pizza
A good friend of mine used to slice thinly and add to a sweet and sour pork dish. Phenomenal. Unfortunately, I never got the recipe and he's no longer with us.

I enjoy a good kumquat marmalade.
Looks so damned good, but also brings back memories of cleaning hundreds of heads with a designated toothbrush. I know now that I was nothing more than cheap child labor to my mother.

Pasta salad. Make it the night before and serve cold or at room temp.
Sorry for the late reply. I can only speak to LG brand re the in-door icemaker. Nothing but problems! My sister and I have the same model with compressor dying after a surge or blackout. Have a friend who had the same issue. Google will tell you what's up.
Yep. They did. I don't recall the beer being that great. Also don't recall it being bad. I remember listening to Kirk Holder there. Had some decent burgers and sandwiches.
Thanks! I'm going to check with two nurseries here in NOLA. I would have gone with Pelican Greenhouse, which is only a mile and a half from me. Unfortunately, their next sale is not until 5/12. I'd really like to get these in sooner than that. Gonna ping this thread/you Thursday if I need those ABBs from your guy.

ETA: I'm up for purple or magenta. Trying to avoid white.
This is what small people (aka ankle-biters) got when they visited our crawfish boils in SoCal. I'm not going to prep good burgers from scratch when the main course is crawfish.

In the mid-90s, we took clients to a place off of Airline for a decent lunch. Ziggy's? Decor was kinda grandma-ish, but the food was good. ETA: Not Ziggy's. KIVA's. I see it is now Portobello's.

Bonus: Wuvvy's/Captain's Quarters in Gonzales for fishbowls with my friends in the AP.

Was going to add Our Daily Bread, but I see they are still open.
Beautiful loaves! Is it wrong that I want to butter my screen?

Ah, that makes a lot of sense. I've read that the beautyberries can be used to make wine. When I was little, my grandmere would talk about her dad making wine from French mulberries.

Great info, thanks! I'll make a few calls in my area.

Local nursery? I'm in NO, but willing to travel to BTR and surrounding area.

Thanks! Have been interested since I saw it a few years ago in the Couturie Forest @ City Park.

American Beautyberry

Looking to attract birds to my property with American beautyberry. Has anyone successfully propagated this plant from cuttings, or did you buy established plants from a nursery?
Where can one find the post-game presser?

re: French Door vs SxS Fridge

I love the French door styling because I bake and cook a lot. I am able to put large trays in the fridge or freezer.

I hate that my fridge is an LG, though. HATE IT! LG compressors are shite. DO NOT get the in-door icemaker. You've been warned.
Thanks for the info. I screwed up two different varieties. I have had the Aji in my cart before and I swapped it for the Tepin.
Baker Creek Heirloom has them. LINK

You might also like Tepin (Aji Charapita) peppers. I plant them for the birds, though, bc they are too hot for me.

ETA: Sorry for the online link. I do not know of a local source.

re: Mason bees

Posted by BelizaireDatCajun on 3/28/23 at 10:02 am to
Thanks! The company I bought them from suggests manually opening the capped-off reeds and removing them to an open container in a protected area. I never got around to doing that and seemed like something the bees could manage for themselves. On Sunday, I noticed a few of the capped reeds are now open and look empty.

Thanks. Yes, I like an occasional party atmosphere, but lean towards Mayberry. It's just the two of us. We just turned 50 and work remotely. Hope to retire wherever we land.

Mason bees

Anyone here have a mason bee habitat? This is the first Spring having packed reeds. Can the bees make their way out of the reeds on their own, or do I have to help them out?

Thanks for all the excellent replies. Going to be reading up on the places mentioned. I'm not looking for a crazy amount of land. 1.5 acres max. Found lakehouse.com and I think it's a good resource once I nail down a location.

Not 100% sure yet. I've vacationed as a kid and young adult on Lake Hamilton, Hot Springs, and Little Rock. I am also interested in Bentonville.

Moving to Arkansas

Posted by BelizaireDatCajun on 3/25/23 at 9:13 pm
Looking to move to rural Arkansas on or near a lake. Trying to find a good source for a home or camp on a small amount of land. (I went to lakesonline.com, but it seems like the entries are for large acreage.) Any suggestions?
Is that sonogram equipment AND SWISS MISS in the same room? WTF?
Go to Station 6! They have oysters. If you want other seafood, they have that, too!

The only complaint I have about them is that they removed the crab stew from their menu. It was the closest I have ever tasted to my Mamere's crab stew. SO GOOD!
Meh and the clientele have been questionable since 2016ish. Station 6 is our go-to.

ETA: Deanie's is average and has zero atmosphere.
