I hope they do something about the balls, though. I know the pace is here to stay, and I guess the strike zone as well. But as much as I like hitting home runs, I don't like seeing pop ups leave the yard against us, and I'm sure pitchers would agree.
How many pop ups did you see leave the yard? Outside of the Florida game with a 30 mph wind blowing out. I do not recall a bunch. Leave the ball alone college baseball is fun to watch again. Teams playing in little league parks is the main reason for so many HR

Jake Brown already has more than 725K before he steps on campus. Lmao
Jake Brown's dad said he would be at LSU unless he got first round money. I sat next to him and Jake for the first Wake Forest game in Omaha

Jobert allowed at least a few extra bases in LF. One was on Friday when he just gave on a ball that was easily his not realizing how deep Crews was playing. And again yesterday on a ball off the wall that he horribly misplayed. That doesn’t favor in the fly balls that he was completely uncomfortable trying to catch.
He didn't give up on the ball on Friday he was playing the line and ran just as far as Crews you did you even watch the game. I must have missed the one he miss played Yesterday off the wall or did he let crews field it because crews had better angle to throw the ball in and keep runners from advancing.

Since his HR vs Samford on Saturday he’s 3-15 with 3 singles.
He is also 3 for 3 in scoring runners from 3rd with less than 2 outs. I guess you would rather watch jones swing and miss or kling just hold the bat. I like the way coach is giving everyone a chance. Unless someone catches fire they all going to rotate. You just CHERRY Jobert bad stats

Is Jobert doing enough at the plate to continue to start? I do not think. Furthermore, he is a liability in the field. If he is not hitting, then not sure what you have there.
I don't understand your hate of Jobert He was 3 for 11 2 runs 2 RBI 2BB 4 Ks not great but not awful. Jobert not near as bad on defense as you make out
Jones was 1/9 2 runs 3BB 7 Ks
Kling is 1 for last 16 1BB 8 Ks
LSU has Zero shot at Omaha because they can't hit lefty pitching
Posted by Beau0153 on 3/24/23 at 1:54 pm
For several years now LSU can not hit lefty pitching.

Non conference games have always been able to be run rule games if both coaches agree to it before hand.
I'm pretty sure that it's the visiting coach that makes the decision. Johnson has said many times that he doesn't want it

Jobert shouldn't be included in that list.
Jobert has hit into the worst luck on the team. He has the 2nd highest exit Velo on the team coming into the weekend. Nobody else in college baseball has an 8 hole hitter whose hit 18 HR in a season 9 of those during SEC play.

CCU is still putting in pitchers getting their first action of the year. It would only help them in the long run. It's not like Jay wasn't emptying the bench early yesterday
quote:
My biggest problem with Jobert is he's extremely inconsistent (best hitter on the team or he can't hit a ball off a high school pitcher
Jobert had one bad at bat yesterday. the other 3 he hit the ball good just right at someone. Who you going to replace him with other 3rd basement is batting .150 and the other outfielders are not doing any better either
No more out of Conf. games with 10 run rule
Posted by Beau0153 on 3/5/23 at 3:00 pm
Make it know up front no 10 run rule. If the teams wants to play with 10 run rule schedule someone else
Seemed like he could have pulled the string at 0-2 and sat them down rather than throw 3-4 extra pitches per batter.
You do realize he only threw 85 pitches in 6 innings with 13 strike outs. That's an average of just over 15 pitches per inning. Your not going to strike every batter out with 3 pitches

Did you watch last night? 14K's?
Do you not know that Skenes has a 35% strikeout rate in WAC doubt he helps that number any
quote:
Jac Caglianone currently has a 1.600 OPS with 7 homers, 11 innnings pitched, a 2.38 ERA and 15 strikeouts.
He started half of Florida games last year in the line up because he couldn't pitch. He is their Sunday start but he is way more important to their line up than Skenes would be to LSU's line up. Florida doesn't have a Jones, Pearson, Kling, Frey, Travinski sitting on the bench to take Caglianone place in the line up.

Well jobert isnt exactly crushing it, and beloso has done it at this level before
Before you say anything else this stupid. How about looking at the season stats

I would throw shores saturday Iowa lineup is mostly righties and Sam Houston is a pretty good hitting team

No way you take Dugas out of the lineup unless he starts to struggle. He was LSU best hitter this weekend and took the best at bats

Just last year you lost Berry for 2 weekends just when he was coming off the first injury. He got hit on the opposite hand against vandy

LSU had a quick trigger with Mainieri.
Mainieri was killing LSU baseball slowly those last few years he was a terrible coach. Maybe it was the health issues but even the player have said he wasn't the same
quote:
never said we didn’t. I have no issue with Neal’s bat and arm. If there’s something he has to adjust to it’s the receiving and specifically receiving that many guys throwing that hard. They need to trust that the catcher can handle anything they throw. That takes time.
Neal not having the college EXPERIENCE is the only thing Milazzo has on him. You act like Neal came from came from some tiny school. He came from IMG where he has been the starting pitcher for the last 3 years and caught at least 5 different high school kids throwing 95+
quote:
yep i miss calculated. point being, he can wave the towel in the dugout and provide lockeroom leadership but the younger guys need the reps. morgan is gone after this year, so his replacement needs experience
You don't even know who will be at 1B next year, You have the transfer portal, freshman who could take the spot, and highly doubt it but morgan could come back. although by your logic he shouldn't be welcomed back. You do whatever makes this years team the best and worry about next year when next year gets here
quote:
He also produces alot of swing and misses and the HR production or average did not offset that.
Thompson was one of the best clutch hitters on LSU. Defense got better toward the end of the year

1. Tre Morgan, 1B
2. Dylan Crews, CF
3. Tommy Tanks, 3B
4. Gavin Dugas, DH
5. Paxton Kling, LF
6. Josh Pearson, RF (Prove himself again after Fall ball)
7. Jordan Thompson, SS
8. Jack Merrifield, 2B (Most swapped position this year)
9. Alex Milazzo, C (Could see a lot of changes here)
Jay has proven he likes LRLRLR or RLRLRL he not going to put 4 righties in a row unless they are playing a tuff lefty pitcher to many players who can swing it for that

Excuse me he was ranked number 71 overall and number 2 catcher.
He will be the starting catcher by SEC play

You have to understand the type of people you are dealing with. Milazzo is already toast to a good number of them. He shouldn't be wearing an LSU uniform to some. Those type of people will just spout out random shite, and actually believe their own made up BS. Nothing you ever do, say, nor anything that happens on the field will change that. Milazzo could end up hitting .300 and they wouldn't change their tune, they would just disappear until he goes into a slump.
I be the first to say I was wrong if Milazzo hits.300 and I really wish he would but I don't see it happening. Neal has just as good of pop times and arm as Milazzo, Milazzo has more experience in college receiving but it's not like Neal has been catching junk pitchers at IMG. Neal wasn't projected to be first round pick because he can't play defense
quote:
Some of you apparently just have no clue how important defense is at the catching position. And Milazzo is ELITE defensively.
You are correct but Neal a who bats lefty with power and is on par with Milazzo defensively & will only get better will see the field more if Milazzo is batting .180 I hope Milazzo bats .300 but he has not proven he can bat .200 in his first 3 years
re: Baseball Talk, what’s your starting lineup?

He has been catching pitchers that are in the MLB/college for the last 3 years at IMG academy. He hasn't been catching at your run of the mill high school. From what I saw in the fall he has just as good of an arm/pop time as millazzo but millazzo blocks the ball a lil better. No need in having an automatic out in lineup unless he is miles better at defense
re: Baseball Talk, what’s your starting lineup?
Posted by Beau0153 on 1/20/23 at 11:25 am to BayTiger13
If Neal defense is descent he starts 2/3 of the games at catcher. Johnson is offense over defense coach and Likes lefties in the line up.

Milazzo is not hitting .235 unless he has made major improvements. Neal will be your starting catcher most of the season. Way more power and from the left side.
