re: RIP Phil Garner

I’ll never forget that 2004 season when the Astros fired Jimmy Williams after going 44-44 and hired Garner to try and spark some life into the team. Astros ended up going 48-26 the rest of the way, they believed in themselves so much at that point, finally got over the Braves hump in the NLDS and it’s a shame they ran into Pujols

same story next year, they were in 6th through June and roared back to take the wild card, vanquished their demons between Braves and Cardinals but just couldn’t get over on the White Sox. That was such a fun time to be a fan

What teams got away with it and won on a regular basis?

:rotflmao:

Oh please, we have all been paying players for forever.

Iowa or someone got in major trouble for it all the way back in the 1920's, it's been happening for decade

Yeah they have, and yet certain teams were willing to risk it all and got away with it, while others were completely shut down for it.

Correct. The players are just assets within the fund. I don't hate it, but it's not college sports anymore.

Do you feel as if it was college sports when only certain schools were allowed to pay for players and not get penalized for it? This is the fallout from the bullshite that happened for years

Not a blue blood.

I don't think they are a blue blood, I just think they are a team with alot of money and to act as if it's the little engine that could is dumb.

Finally a non-blue blood program wins it

Uhhhh

Why would Michigan’s lack of timeouts have any effect on why a clearly obvious play took forever on review

Because refs are in the bag for Michigan and the Big 10

19-1 in the B1G, arguably the second best Big Ten team of all time behind the undefeated IU squad

Hyperbole
anytime UConn gets some stops they can’t capitalize, brutal game
Posey is the only one there who should be in, and he should be a 1st ballot
I'm sorry did I hear that right? His name is Blubaugh and it's pronounced Blue Balls?
Is there air?! You don't know!?

Also want to throw in this scene and the story of Tim Allen finally having a truthful moment as an actor and the pain it caused. Apparently Alan Rickman said after this scene "Oh my god, I think he just experienced acting"

In my top 20 films and showed this clip to a friend this morning.

The character arcs are stellar..Alan Rickman hating his character and the stupid line he was forced to say a million times to understanding what it means to "fans" who believe in them. Just so moving.

ETA: During the rock fight

Sir Alexander Dane - You're just going to have to figure out what it wants. What is its motivation?

Jason Nesbitt - It's a rock monster. It doesn't have motivation.

Sir Alexander Dane- See, that's your problem, Jason. You were never serious about the craft.
