Do i remember correctly that one of those years we had Henry, Hill and Marceaux as our projected starting rotation? Want to say at least one if not two of those got injured and the season fell apart but that could have been one of the best starting rotations we've ever had.
I actually picked up the audiobook from a reccomendation from someone on here (may have been another board). The rec was basically "if you liked the Martian, look nothing else up about Project Hail Mary and go pick up the book asap". I did just that. From the very beginning when no one knew anything to the bigger reveal mid book all the way through and it was just awesome. Thank you, that random TD poster. I'm a little irritated that there are effectively spoilers in the trailer, but at the same time I dont think you can really work the movie the way the book was written so it is what it is. Im going to see it and an looking forward to it. I Def do rec read (or listen) to the book before movie if possible.
shite I thought you meant to save those for stock. Them bones would have ended up as liquid flavor at my house. Doggie would have gotten to eat any gristle though.

Does look tasty.
I have long sinceed really want to get a display for my house to show stuff like our family calendar, birthday countdowns, weather, music controls etc. Nowadays its even easier to accomplish via a homeassistant dashboard. The issue is have is that i don't want the power draw of a screen on all the time thats only going to get occasional use. My perfect solution is a touch capable color e ink display. Those have been way too expensive for an unnecessary luxury item (aka nerd project i sell off as something useful for the family), but it does seem like maybe they're starting to come down. An old tablet or something would work if I really needed it to though.

re: William Schmidt vs. Kade Anderson

I made the comp before the season. They had fairly similar freshman campaigns. They both basically dominated midweek. They both struggled in SEC play. Anderson obviously made the jump sophomore year. Yet to be seen if Schmidt can do the same, but those stats are encouraging. His last couple outings have been really good. Long way to go to get to where Anderson was, but honestly we don't need that this year (though I'd love for it to happen). If he can keep developing to his potential he's gonna be really good.

Happy Buddy Guy Day!

I member. And some folks were freaking out at the time. Honestly I think everyone was at least a bit concerned. Jay hadn't quite built the trust he has now. Some concern is understandable, and maybe even reasonable. There's no reason to panic at this point though. More concerning than the lack of runs, in my mind, is the lack of reps for the backups that inevitably get put in after we get monster leads. I would not be surprised if tomorrow's game is much more offensive, with teams being on their 4th day of arms. We didn't really throw that many by number thus far (I think only 7 through the 3 games), but we did throw basically all of our top end arms, so we'll see how we do on that side tomorrow. I would expect Cowan to either get the start or at least get a hunk of innings in there. But now I've veered off topic...

I would absolutely take a guaranteed every other year natty. I'd still go to games and enjoy the off years. Knowing you won it all last year and you will again the next year... thats some good consolation prize.

Realistically, the ceiling is very high for this team, but they have a lot of work to do to get there. There aren't any absolute superstars maybe, but basically everyone on the team is really ggood.Jay has more than earned my trust that he'll figure out how to make it work by the time it matters.

Its on the country station. 100.7 maybe? Must be a bb game later
We've done this kind of thing a fair bit before. Maybe not every year hut pretty often. It's a win win win. We get 4 games in, so do 3 other teams. 2x northern schools and one smaller la school. We get practice rotating teams and they get to play in the box (where its not freezing cold).

He just looked soooo slow going home. And he's very much not slow. Maybe he was gassed from the 3b he just hauled, but he didn't seem to get a good jump and he seemed to hesitate or pull up towards the end. Just a weird run.
Humor is subjective, so that's understandable. I'm personally usually into it though, even the sort of intentionally cringeworthy jokes.

Good eats is one of the things that got me into cooking, though. In my opinion you don't really watch it to learn how to cook a specific recipe, though occasionally you can do that. For me, it's the learning WHY you want to do x y or z thing when you're cooking stuff or how it works that I always appreciated. I'm going to forget the recipe. Hell i was probably only going to half follow it anyway. But I'll remember the important bits of why im doing the things and how it works. The way my brain works I like that kind of stuff.

I gave zen a try a month or two ago, making it the default browser on a couple machines. It's nice, but i think I'm eventually going to make my way back to Firefox.

The lineup is a battering ram. Just pound on you until you collapse. Seems like there's pressure every inning, and often enough they break through.

re: Dardar at 2nd

Reports before the season started led me to believe he was best suited for the job and I have seen nothing thus far to counter that. I think defense would be more likely to be his downfall than his bat. I don't think he's been bad there but that would be my only potential concern with having him there full time. I think with more reps he can get more and more comfortable. Not sure who the best defensive option we'd have for 2b and how much of an upgrade that would be over Dardar so I suspect he'll stick there.
Eh, I didn't think it was a homer live but through that shifty replay I'm pretty sure it was actually out. You couldnt tell definitively but from the way it bounced back onto the field, it seems most likely that it did indeed go over.

All that being said the production overall leaves a lot to be desired. The field was all torn up, the camera work was subpar, the umps had to try to watch replays on what looked like a 15yo 22" desktop monitor. Hell even lyn and ben seemed to be of their game.

For those that do participate in lent, I'm curious as to what you get out of it?

I was raised catholic but am not much of a practitioner. I always partake in lent. Maybe not by the specific rules. I either give up a bad habit, a crutch, or something of the like or inversely I force myself to do something that I should but normally wouldn't. For me its about practicing self control which is a skill that comes easier to some than others but regardless must be honed like any other. Lent is the season I work on my self control.
We just played 4 games in 4 days. Most teams didn't and having to pitch 4 days straight means you'll have to use effectively all of your arms just to get through, especially early in the season when you're not stretching anyone out. That's a feature not a bug for Jay. He wants to get all his guys a chance to pitch. But it does mean that you're going to be more likely to give up runs. There is a mild bit of concern that even some of our top arms weren't exactly dominant, but overall I think the staff did fine. It's early season. Let's reevaluate in a few weeks

Ha yeah not big green egg. Green pan. The ceramic one is fine. It's the waffle skillet things that are garbage. I just haven't gotten around to replace them since we use our cast iron primarily.

I have a big green egg ceramic that works well for what it is. My wife bought a few of their skillets with the waffle texture or whatever... I loathe those things. Always get shite stuck in the little pock marks. Seems a terrible design to me.
