"how's that tiger dick taste?!?!"

That's a good question...how does it taste?

And we're the "trashy" ones, lol
"it's just trashy as frick"

Read this thread...that describes most of your fan base.

Memphis won...LSWho lost...I'm glad we dunked it at the end...something to remember us by.

Tiger Rag also reported we were talking to Pastner.

and Pastner reports the Tiger Rag is full of s***

Most of my family (longtime season ticket holders in multiple sports, Highland Hundred charter members, and employees of the athletic department) are all over the place. Opinions change weekly.

After the Joe Jackson incident earlier, everyone was convinced he was in over his head with these high-profile, inner-city athletes. Then after the C-USA tournament, everyone was convinced we were making a run to the Sweet 16 and Josh was our future Coach K. After the SLU game, everyone was convinced Josh isn't a good enough game coach to win in the postseason, no discipline, just athletes, etc.

It's all just blah, blah, blah IMO. He's a very promising young coach who is still taking his lumps, and any program that hires him needs to understand they will have to be patient and grow with him, and they should be handsomely rewarded.

Memphis is a tough gig...but you can win big at Memphis (ask Bartow, Kirk, Finch, Calipari)...and Memphis will pay you well for it. (Cal was making 2.6 million at Memphis)

I wish we would consider the LSU-S coach. That guy does nothing but win.

except against the top-25 or in the NCAA tourney...

I'm not saying LSU has reached out to him, but do you expect him to acknowledge it if they have? Signing day is tomorrow. At this point, it's agents talking. Josh probably hasn't personally talked to anyone.

Nick Saban "i'm not going to be the alabama coach"

John Calipari "Memphis is where i want to be"

Memphis and UK arent rivals.

yep, Memphis has only played UK once...beat em in Maui.

I think that most peoples view of Memphis, from those who dont live there, is this.

#2 Most Dangerous City

lived here my whole life...i've never had anything stolen...never been to jail...if you don't buy/sell drugs or run in a gang you're fine.

Pastner refutes Tiger Rag article.

FWIW

Thanks to portcitymadman for pointing this out.

who can forget...

"Memphis is where i want to be" John Calipari
quote:

It's not THAT bad.

at least he's beaten a top-25 team and won an NCAA game...
quote:

Yeah I'm sure they would just love to have to hire a new coach right now.

Memphis would introduce Scott Drew as the Memphis head coach about 5 minutes after Pastner to LSU become official...go for it guys! do it now!

paying 2.2-2.5 for Pastner is like TCU paying 2.3 for TJ.

None of that makes up for having to live in Memphis. I wouldn't wish this place on my worst enemy.

i like it here...i love living in midtown...cooper-young is a blast...Beale is great...and some of the best food i've ever had...Memphis has character...it's like New Orleans.
according to Josh no one from LSU has contacted him...and he has not contacted LSU...

A college mecca is built with championships and sustained success. Memphis just hasn't had that consistently, and as we all know, zero titles.

don't tell that to Derrick Rose, Tyreke Evans, Joe Jackson, Will Barton, Adonis Thomas, etc.

they didn't get that memo...
Memphis IS a basketball Mecca...recruiting wise...which is why i'll never worry about Memphis falling apart...it can't and won't happen.

i esp like the way Pastner is doing it...for every five-star player from Memphis we sign...like Joe Jackson or Adonis Thomas...he signs a five-star from outside Memphis...like Will Barton or Shaq Goodwin...you can't let the local HS coaches dictate how you run your program.

the other thing is facilities...LSU can't match FedExForum and the Larry Finch Center.

but like i've said...you want to offer 2.2-2.5 million for Josh...go for it.
^ Cal could only duplicate what Gene Bartow had done back in 1973...taking Memphis to the NCAA Finals...08 was not our first trip...and it won't be our last.

as for the 90's...you seem to forget Penny Hardaway, the 1992 Elite Eight and the 1995 Sweet 16.

not to mention our run in the 80's

From a fan attendance standpoint, maybe not. From a winning and perception standpoint, we could easily be Memphis and more.

i doubt LSU could win 137 games in 4 years...that's 34 wins per season...Elite Eight, Elite Eight, Final Four, Sweet 16...i just don't believe LSU could pull that off in the SEC.

Memphis basketball will be a whole different animal in the Big East (for the better)

remember that NC State offered Josh 2 million per year and he said no...so if LSU wants to offer 2.2-2.5 million for a coach that's 0-10 against the top-25 and 0-2 in NCAA games...go for it.

moreover Shaq Goodwin and Damien Wilson have both signed binding LOI's.

good luck in your search...Johnny Jones is a damn good coach. (ex Memphis HC)
