For dessert…Sugar Pop Bakery in Waveland. Excellent desserts and treats, and good sandwiches. The owner won one of the Baking Championships on Food Network. Its in the Katrina museum, oddly. Worth the little drive to Waveland.

We, too, have been several times and hit the major spots. Going next weekend and trying two of the new places— Anthonys and Fields Crab Shack.

I am wanting to get to Radish in Long Beach. Heard a lot of good things.
I am currently sitting in one at my camp. Single wide. In the middle of 30 acres. Wide covered porches down both sides and a metal pitched roof. Its 35 years old and winter insulated. We had the entire floor and subfloor redone two years ago and its pretty solid. Not at all fancy, but cool in summer, warm in winter. No mice. (Thank you, barn cats.)

I live in it probably 25% of the time. One of my favorite places.

Pro: its a paid for residence if ever needed, good spot to get away, very comfortable

Cons: dont want to be here in really bad weather, a bitch to get insurance

I’m very blessed.

I am headed that way from Denham shortly and was wondering if it had been rough out there.

Will check our trail cameras as there are usually deer laid up in our woods in bad weather. Would not want to be in a stand during what we had a while ago.

My parents were huge proponents of peanuts in Coke. They made sure I tried it, and I didn’t love it, but can see the point. The whole sweet/salty thing done old school.

I was intrigued when I saw the ad. May try it. I can think of worse combinations.

Pecan cheddar cheeseball
Filets
Smothered potatoes
Green peas
Apple tart w/ice cream

Caramel corn while doing fireworks later.
I had pretty much stopped wearing watches for the reason mentioned…having the time readily available on my phone. Then I found myself at an outdoor festival carrying a couple of things with my phone in my pocket, needing to be at a session at a certain time. I realized it would be a lot easier to glance at a watch. So I asked for one for Christmas and replaced batteries in my old ones. Come to find out—I missed wearing one.

Was this the Mexican place by Cortana that had the huge fountain inside ?

I seem to recall a big fountain in El Chico, which was on the same side of Airline as Cortana, near Bennigans, while Chi-Chis was by Fun Fair Park.

My husband and I went there way too often as teenagers. We could both eat for $18 with tip.
My parents have been many times with church groups, friends from the area, etc. It seems like a pretty good time if you know a lot of people at your table.

I went a month or so ago for the first time. We sat at the huge table knowing no one else and it was perfectly fine. No pressure to socialize, but everyone was friendly.

The food was pretty good overall. Fried eggplant was the best thing there and it was damned good.

I do not need to return, but Im glad I went.
My BIL had a demi-glace on a filet earlier this week and said it complemented very well without overwhelming the steak flavor.

He does not like sauce on a steak either.

re: Peanut Butter Pies

Finally made it today! Went right by the recipe other than adding another 1/2 cup of peanut butter.

Just popped it in the freezer and I will add chocolate ganache after it sets up. I ate the bit left in the bowl and cannot WAIT for the final product!

I feel like I will be kicking myself for waiting so long to try.
We only have one child in our immediate family and she is 16.

The rest of my family are adults and we all exchange gifts. Add in bosses and close friends and we buy for about 12.
I have three. Main one in living room, one in kitchen/breakfast room with all food-related ornaments, and one in the dining room because I wanted one that could be seen from the street.

I am neither weird nor heathen.

It is ok to have as many trees as you want, I would think.
Went for drinks with my former boss and left him with the tab intentionally. (Tbh, he would likely have picked it up anyway. And he owes me…)

And shopped at Dollar Tree.

Complete departure this year, as everyone coming decided they want snack/game food. So…baked ham sliders, dips, cheese balls, charcuterie, and meatballs. Plus cocktails. We are all pretty pleased with the prospect.
All the time. Pretty much every day. I usually read late evening before bed.

If I am deep into a book, though, I will read at lunch and throughout the day whenever I have a minute.

I used to read incessantly. At stoplights, in class, during 15 minute breaks at work…whenever.

Sam. He shares a set of twins with Lauren (Fleurty Girl).

Clear skies and out in the middle of nowhere tonight. Will be looking up!!

ETA: we saw quite a few! One very large. Lots of small streaks. Beautiful sky tonight.
Jays is their own thing. Not really traditional bbq, imo.

That being said, I really enjoy it. The sliced beef poboy was my pregnancy craving. I made many a frenzied drive from downtown to Midcity for lunch.

Drusilla seafood has improved recently. I went and was pleasantly surprised.

Agreed. We went this summer for the first time in many years. There were plenty of customers and the food was good.
