I would say if you have to be decently close to Portland I would say Lake Oswego.

Oregon is such a conflicting area to me. I visited Oregon back in 2015 and went to Portland, Hood River, Mt. Hood, Seaside, Cannon Beach and Tillamook. We stayed 3 nights in Portland (last night just to be by the airport) in the suburbs. I enjoyed Portland but even back in 2015 the homelessness and gutter punks downtown were absolutely crazy.
I would never live in Portland proper. But Oregon as a state is one of the most beautiful state in the U.S. and is a state I would definitely love to spend more time in. I would just try to go to a farther out suburb at least somewhat away from Portland or go over to Vancouver, WA where you don't get the state income tax and you are far enough away from Portland to be away from the crazies. Best advise I can give.

Yeah the only way NOLA gets cleaned up is if tourism dries up. It happened after Katrina as NOLA had to portray that it was safe after what people saw on the news after Katrina. Sadly it’s reverted back to its old ways. It’s not 90’s level bad but not far from it.
Even if individual tourists stop visiting that won’t be enough. The weekend visitor tourists don’t make a difference. You have to see major conventions and sporting events pull out.
I don’t want to see it but the reality is that won’t happen unless there is a mass shooting/casualty event in the French Quarter. Something that gets national attention and to the point the city can’t ignore it. It’s pathetic it would take something like that but at this point outside of something like that I don’t see anything changing.
It’s actually one of the big reasons I left NOLA. Sure NOLA is great but there’s genuinely nothing around it. Nothing else in Louisiana or the lower 2/3 of Alabama and Mississippi. Nothing in Arkansas except for the Ozarks in NW Arkansas. Dallas and Houston aren’t really tourist cities and while there is San Antonio and the Hill Country that’s more than 6 hours away.

Sad to hear but not surprising. It wouldn't shock me to see them leave the Florida market completely. Their launch into Florida has essentially completed flopped.
I live in Orlando and I was happy when they announced they were opening here. Opened the I-Drive location in late 2020 (delayed of course due to the pandemic) and then opened the Kissimmee location either late 2021 or early 2022.
The I-Drive location closed in early 2023, essentially making it 2 1/2 years and then the Kissimmee location closed in late 2023, basically only making it around 1 1/2 - 2 years. I know the Pensacola location closed as well and that location didn't make a year.
Like you said the quality was good at first but really started to go downhill late in 2022/early 2023. They stopped having the Mardi Gras Mahi as well as the Crawfish Two-Way Entrees and they were my two favorite entrees. Service really started to go downhill as well.
Both Orlando locations there was no warning they were closing, they both just happened overnight. The Kissimmee location didn't surprise me as much as it never really seemed busy. The I-Drive location did surprise me though as it was pretty steady and very busy during football season. But maybe that was the problem, I could see where weeknights would've probably not been that busy.
But very sad to see them leave the Orlando market completely.
You do realize Nebraska won in 1997 right? And most consider that 1997 Nebraska team to be better than the 1997 Michigan team they shared the title with.

Now we know why they started the National Title game earlier this year. More commercial time to sell. This is easily going to be a 4 hour game.

Something is definitely going to happen before the election this year. The heated rhetoric saying Trump is a threat to Democracy, the kangaroo court trials, Trump being removed from the ballot in some state and that's just domestically.
The Ukraine and Israel wars that we are essentially fighting as a proxy. China, Iran and North Korea still out there.
The whole world feels like it's a powder keg right now. Here is the U.S. it feels like the gas has been poured and it's just waiting for the match. I'm honestly concerned about doing any sort of major travel after June.
It could be organic, like a terrorist attack, but more likely it'll be a false flag like another virus or some sort of racial incident that gets BLM all riled up again in the summer. Something to get those black people who dare to question the Democrat plantation back in their place. But it does feel like something is going to happen.

Absolutely. I know a previous poster mentioned the DUI factor as a downfall to the club/bar scene but that's not really it. It's this. Now though the risk is just a lot worse. Getting rejected and laughed at is the least of a guy's concern. So many women take it beyond rejection. Some actually seem to enjoy humiliating or destroying the man.

Yes and I'm guessing we'll know for sure when the preseason schedule is released (typically before the regular season schedule). If we get 2 preseason home games then it's probably almost guaranteed a home game will be overseas. If we get 1 preseason home game there's a decent chance all 9 regular season home games will actually be in the Dome.
I don't mind either way as we all knew the 17 game schedule was largely approved so that there could be more overseas games. It was a way for the NFL to easily make a home game an overseas game without that team (with the exception of the Jaguars who have that London agreement due to their owner) having less than 8 home games.
It won't be the Broncos game though. The NFL will want that game in the Dome. Even if the team isn't as good that game will be intense.

I think Kamara you could still get something decent for. A lot of teams that are on the cusp of having really good seasons next year we absolutely add a difference maker like Kamara.
I think he's close to falling off but still has 2 solid seasons left.
Lattimore I don't see much there for him. Probably better to just keep him. Thomas is a FA and even if he wasn't there's going to be very little demand for him. His best days are gone.

We miss the following teams in 2024:
Ravens
Bills
Dolphins
Lions
49ers
Seahawks
Bengals (strength depending on what happens with Burrow)
Jets (strength depending on what happens with Rodgers)
We miss the three best divisions currently in the NFL in the NFC West, AFC East and AFC Central.
Out of the 7 teams in the AFC playoffs this year we miss 5 next year: Ravens, Bills, Dolphins, Steelers and Texans. Included in that we miss 3 out of the 4 AFC division winners.
Out of the 7 teams in the NFC playoffs this year we miss 2 next year: 49ers and Lions. So we miss 2 of the 4 NFC division winners and the top seed in the 49ers. The Bucs we are guaranteed to play regardless. Everyone in the division will play the Cowboys and the Eagles. Yes we play the Rams and Packers that are in the playoff as wild card teams but we played both of those teams this year. And it's a lot better than playing the 49ers and Lions like the Bucs will be playing.
Plus 2024 is a year we get 9 home games (unless one of the home games becomes an International Game).
So please tell how this schedule is so hard. It isn't. It's more difficult than this year but not by a lot and it's definitely not brutal unless NFL scheduling screws us over (either in terms of when we play certain teams and the position of our bye week) which obviously isn't out of the realm of possibility. But based on the teams it's not a brutal schedule.

Honestly with the way sports are nowadays season tickets are kind of obsolete. For most home games you can get tickets for cheaper than what you pay per game for season tickets. Plus then you aren't locked in to having to attend each game or sell tickets for games you aren't going to use. And the vast majority of season ticket holders (even the diehards) probably miss at least 1 home game a year.
There used to be the appeal that you knew where your seats were each game and you knew the people around you. In a way by having that you built camaraderie and seeing the same people each year was like seeing old friends. But nowadays even if you have season tickets there's a good chance the seats next to you are going to be owned by some ticket broker who is just selling all the tickets, a corporation who just gives the tickets away for each game or a fan who might go to a few games but then will probably sell half the games, including the big games where they can make the most money.
At the end of the day in all of these scenarios you will be next to a different fan each game.
Plus let's be honest, watching at home is now more enjoyable than at the Dome. Your own (not stadium priced) food, your own couch, a personal bathroom, it's just all better.

Saints 2024 Schedule

Since the season is officially over.
Many will say we won't get an easier schedule than this year, which is true, but the schedule most likely won't be significantly more difficult.
We substitute the NFC Central for the NFC East next year which I don't think is a big change. Yes the Cowboys and the Eagles are very good teams but the Giants and Redskins (I will never call them Commanders) are terrible organizations.
Since we finished second we'll play the Rams and ironically the Packers next year. Meanwhile the Bucs will play the Lions and the 49ers. I'd much rather play the Rams with an aging Stafford and the Packers with a mediocre Love to get revenge than the Lions and 49ers, two teams built to be very good for awhile. That alone gives us an advantage against the Bucs within the division.
Essentially the NFC schedule will be very similar. You essentially trade out the Lions and Vikings for the Cowboys and Eagles. Lions and Cowboys are essentially equal while the Eagles are significantly better than the Vikings.
The biggest change is we play the AFC West next year compared to the AFC South this year. I mean yes that means the Chiefs but they could be starting to decline. They have no downfield threat outside of Kelce which they will have to address. And there's nothing that crazy scare me about the Raiders, Broncos or Chargers. The 17th game will be against the Browns. The 17th game this year was against the Patriots. While the Browns are much better this year than the Patriots, it's still the Browns so who knows what they'll be next year.
From what I've seen the schedule sets up this way:

Broncos
Browns
Away Games
Cowboys
Giants
Packers
Chiefs

So essentially while the schedule is slightly more difficult I wouldn't say it's a difficult schedule and not significantly mores than this year. The NFC part of the schedule is almost the same in terms of difficulty. The AFC portion is the part that's more difficult but again I wouldn't say by a significant amount. We still miss the three toughest divisions in the NFL currently: NFC West, AFC East and AFC North.

You don't fix the problems the Falcons and Panthers have in one offseason. They are at least 2 years away. Now the Bucs could improve but they would be the only major concern. And again the Bucs are going to lose next week and they'll have a worse draft position than us. So if the Bucs improve significantly it most likely won't be through the draft.

It's still the Falcons, they won't make the right call.
Even if they did they aren't going to touch Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels or Drake Maye. And unless we had tanked neither were we.
Penix could be a concern but I'm not sure they go that route. And I would absolutely beyond love to see the Falcons draft Bo Nix. Bo Nix has NFL bust written all over him just like Desmond Ridder. Honestly if the Falcons go the Bo Nix route that's probably the best case scenario for the Saints.

I'm saying we're not in a division where we have a 49ers, Cowboys, Ravens, Dolphins or Bills ahead of us. Those are teams that are good and set up to be good for the next few years. It won't take as much for us to be the best in the NFC South by a significant margin which means a good chance at the playoffs and a playoff run.
It's always easier to get better when there isn't a dominant team in your division. Look at how the AFC East suffered when the Patriots were dominant. How the AFC South suffered when the Colts were dominant. How the AFC West suffered when the Chiefs were dominant.
There is no dominant team in the NFC South so it makes it an easier path to have better years.

Yes our draft position is going to be screwed, but the Bucs are going to be in even worse shape. Baker Mayfield isn't the answer for them at QB, they aren't going to get significantly better next year and they'll have a worse draft pick than us.
Both Carolina and Atlanta are in shambles and are both fully in rebuilding.
I know I'm grasping at straws here, but the reality is the NFC South isn't going to get better next year.

In a way maybe AI could actually help with dating. I think AI is going to make the dating sites and dating apps all but unusable, even for the top 10% of men and women. The amount of scammers and/or fake profiles in online dating is going to be insane.

I got to the same point in online dating. I would have the same scenario where it was always the fake Asian girl profiles that would "like" me. At first I instanced just blocked them but then I decided to play along until they asked for money or for me to invest in something. Like you said in the very least you get some additional nice pics.
I honestly feel bad for Asian women here in the U.S. It's gotten to the point where if an Asian woman liked me I automatically assume it's a fake profile. The woman would have to do a lot to convince me she isn't some bot.
That's the other thing about online dating. We think fake profiles are bad now. Wait until AI gets even more sophisticated. These dating sites will use AI to make it look like there are more women on there than there really is. Plus you'll still have the scammers. The amount of fake profiles is going to skyrocket and it's going to get more difficult to identify the fake profiles until you start chatting with the woman.

Not that he was one. I said that he needed to get that out of his system and get back out there, because that attitude can bleed into his personal life and social conversations.

I appreciate the concern but you really think I use terms like "red pill" and "black pill" in regular every day life? Message boards talking about the dating scene are literally about the only place where I use terminology like that. I try to offer my perspective but I absolutely am not a MGTOW/Incel anymore. I saw what that mentality was going to give me which was nothing.
The thing about the MGTOW/Incel ideology is that, like so many other cults, you get the illusion of community. They prey on the vulnerable men who are lonely and miserable and those men think they have finally found "their people". The thing is those people don't want to help them. The concept "misery loves company" is so true in the MGTOW/Incel community.
They might act like your friends at first but they are not your friends. They are people you will never meet in real life and they don't want you to get out because then that means they feel worse about themselves. That's why I left, it's not about help, it's about a pity party.
Again don't mistake me using the terminology as context for this discussion as terms I use in every day life. Back when I was firmly entrenched in the MGTOW ideology I absolutely did use those terms in real life but I absolutely do not anymore.
While I wouldn't say I'm 100% healed (who knows if I ever will be, are any of us truly 100% healed from our scare?) or ever will be it's truly a mentality I've put in my past and am doing my best not to let resurface again. I know that it's up to me, even if the odds are against me, to keep going if I ever want to actually find a woman to be with. No one's going to feel sorry for me and I accept that now. That doesn't mean I don't think the deck is stacked against men and that online dating has been horrible for men, I absolutely believe both of those as facts. But we have to try to show men not to let that stop them.
I'll be honest, I don't know how we actually fix the dating culture here in the U.S. Part of me thinks it's going to take an entire generation of men and, in particular, women being utterly alone and miserable. That we're going to have to lose a generation of men and women for the next generation to see the lies that generation was told was nothing but BS and to not fall for the same tricks. I hope I'm wrong and I don't plan on it stopping me personally but it's probably the most likely scenario.
