I’d take off A&M and add Auburn and Texas.

It’s definitely a big season for eLko in year 3 with Marcel returning for his third year starting.

I think adding Texas is a no braininer with the amount invested in that roster.

B+.

An A would be winning a playoff game, he didn't accomplish that feat. He also dropped several games he shouldn't have lost that ultimately cost him a playoff appearance.

I'm refuting Smothers' claim that his decision wasn't based on NIL by pointing out he recently purchased a $200K vehicle.

So Alabama offered him less than 200k? That would imply Alabama is poor.

This guy couldn’t crack top 4running backs for OU

A. Judging by OUs RB history I don’t think any previously rostered OU RB should be judged by their time spent there.

B. He was first team All ACC last season.
quote:

Pay attention…there will be another portal next year. Do you think LSU just won’t go get other guys?

They will. That has absolutely nothing to do with the claim that “Seaton and Leavitt are 2 year guys”.

A failure based on what?

ROI

You have no actual idea what they spent, how that compares to anyone else, or how much they will spend going forward.

You can actually make very educated guesses based on what numbers have been officially reported. For example, Sorsby went to Tech for 4.5. Based on how quickly he went off the board you can assume he was the first choice for Tech and LSU. Being that Leavitt didn’t go for much later you can assume he eventually settled for less money than Sorsby (so probably 3.5-4 million). Seaton is also probably around the 3 range due to who LSU was competing against for him and what it was reported he wanted.

For Princewill it’s already been reported LSU paid the buyout for Ole Miss as well as his NIL asking which only logically would be greater than the 1.6 he was making at Ole Miss or there’s no reason to leave.

In all, those 3 players cost around 10 million based off educated guesses. That 3 players on a 80+ man roster… so yeah I’d say for most CFB roster costs, an 8 win season would be terrible ROI on how much LSU has spent on that roster.

So what you’re saying is anything short of a national title appearance would be a wasted season, right?

Yes. I think that’s pretty obvious with the amount of money invested in the roster.

Assumption

You gotta be retarded to think then sticking at LSU for 2 years is a lesser assumption than both leaving after 1.
quote:

Which position are they not eclipsing?

Just about all of them. We can look at their top 3 recruits (Leavitt, Seaton and Prince)

Prince finished behind Collin Simmons in sacks.

Seaton is a projected first rounder in 2027, so is Goosby.

Leavitts good. Downside being he’s coming off an injury and won’t participate in spring ball. He won’t have Jordon Tyson. He doesn’t have Cam Skattebo. Just because you’re ranked highly in the transfer portal it doesn’t equate to success. The 2nd highest ranked QB in the portal last year was Nico.

Thats not even getting into WR (Texas wins in a landslide), RB (landslide), secondary, and o and D line. The only area I might say LSU could have an edge is linebacker, and that’s only on Texas. Georgia beats them in a landslide at backer.
quote:

Maybe but LSU's got to be the favorite. I mean Georgia hasn't really lost anybody much but with the talent that Lane is bringing in, it's completely eclipsing Georgia and Texas (easily).

At what position are they eclipsing the talent on either Georgia or Texas?

Favorite to win the SEC in '26?

I’ll take the team that’s won it the last 2 years. Followed by Texas. Then followed by LSU.
quote:

I mean the majority of what you've said is based on your own assumptions so that's probably why it doesn't make sense.

What he said is true. While they both have more eligibility, they’re both projected to leave next year (Seaton especially). Leavitt could pull a Moore and stick around for 1 more year (which might be logical if he struggles after missing spring ball due to injury), but that might end up being very expensive for LSU. Rumors are Moore is getting upwards of 8mil at Oregon.

To be honest it seems like 8 wins would be a failure considering just the amount they have invested in QB and LT for 1 year. I personally have them at 9-3.

He is finalizing deal with LSU as I type this. Check ON3 website, and others.

You wanna update us on this?

I've also seen him and Billy say Underwood wasn't leaving, Jonah Williams was going to LSU, Collin Simmons was LSU bound... The list goes on.

Lane is hinting about something happening but in today's age nothing is done until the paperwork is signed. Shea may be lucky and get this one right, but that doesn't make him a good insider

Shea Dixon is a notoriously terrible insider.

I'm confused on why you're attempting to take a jab at me when I didn't respond to you or even mention LSU. Seems like I might be under your skin.

So Texas could likely have the preseason Heisman favorite AND be the preseason #1.

After last year I'm sure all the idiots in the media that were pumping that nonsense last year wont be too quick to jump to conclusions again (this year it might be warranted).

Not gonna happen. He's Miami or Oregon bound.

Is LSU becoming the Dodgers of College Football?

FIFY

...and no. The Dodgers win.
I think it's smart. Leavitt is coming off injury and Lane is hedging his bets. At the very least LSU has their 2027 starter with a year in the system under his belt.

They would've run away with the league had Mateer not gotten injured.

An injury didn't make Mateer throw into triple coverage on the regular.
Nah, but he did injure his foot playing basketball which is why he sat out the rest of the year.

He's 1-1 against State
quote:

Ewww. This one is really mad.

Whats there to be mad about? I made a comment on how in today age with the portal and NIL a team should be able to be competitive in year 1. An LSU poster didn't seem to like that comment so here we are. I fail to see how that's be being "mad".
quote:

Only losers talk about playoff appearances.

We talk about titles

Something LSU hasn't sniffed since NIL became a thing.
Tulane has a more recent playoff appearance than LSU.
quote:

What's taking the longcorns so long?

Weird that since NIL became a thing, LSU has yet to make the playoffs...
quote:

That'd be better than your record after your last coaching change.

Apples and oranges. With the new transfer portal and resources LSU has committed to Kiffin, there isn't an excuse not to have a year 1 turn around.
