I had a line number for TSgt. Got myself in a jam. Squadron Commander didn’t bust me down to SrA. Only took my TSgt promotion.

Did he bring his lunch pail to work? Was he a high motor guy, a gym rat and have a high Air Force IQ?

quote:Only if you have a shitty officer as a squadron commander (I'm a retired Air Force Officer, and a graduated Squadron Commander). I liked to practice procedural fairness, not outcome fairness.
Unfortunately. If she had been enlisted her career would have been over. I say this as an officer.
For instance, I had a dirtbag Airman get a DUI. He failed multiple PT tests, had a referral EPR, multiple LORs, etc. I gave him an Article 15, busted him down in rank, received another referral EPR, and I recommended him for discharge. The Wing Commander discharged him.
Case 2. I had an Airman receive a DUI on Easter night. He was arrested and released without the police notifying the base. The only reason we knew he got a DUI is he came to my office to talk to me the next duty day so he could let me know what happened. We never would have known he received a DUI if he didn't do that. He had to do a class and the DUI would be expunged from his record. This particular Airman was, in all other ways, a model Airman. He was a Distinguished Graduate from Airman Leadership School. He was always the first to work and last to leave. He did anything and everything you could want out of an Airman. He had just tested for TSgt and I had a strong feeling he would make rank. Instead of busting him down to SrA and effectively stunting his career for 5 years, I let him know I was redlining his TSgt stripe when results came out. So he still got an Article 15, but his career wouldn't be over. He would be eligible to test for TSgt in 2 more years. Results came out and he made TSgt as I suspected, and I took that stripe away.
Now, at the status of discipline meeting at the Wing, we have to list administrative actions and discuss punishments. I received a lot of flack for standing up for my Airman, but in the end, it was my decision, and I stood by it. I explained my reasoning and the Wing Commander thanked me for having the courage to do what I thought was right. I had multiple other squadron commanders come up to me and say they had no idea you could do something like that. Hell, it's my squadron and I'm going to run it as I see fit.
So, I say that the only reason the Air Force would be a one-mistake Air Force is if you have a Squadron Commander that isn't strong enough to make their own decisions based on all the information. Yes, overall, there is a difference between how officers and enlisted are treated when it comes to administrative action. But with strong leadership, it doesn't have to be that way.

Most of the classrooms will have audio/visual equipment and cameras to use during presentations or when having outside guests watch a class presentation. These cameras are only on when the professor switches them on for that type of use. These aren't CCTV-type cameras at all so I can understand why those wouldn't be on during this event. I'm not saying they were or weren't on, but that it would be unusual to have them on even during a normal class.

quote:I'm actually surprised the deer are hitting the corn I put out on private that I get to hunt. I just much prefer the public chase. But on private, the deer are hitting it daily including bucks. There's 1 shooter buck that is showing up consistently, but I'm chasing some shooters on public for now.
They still aren’t hitting my corn??

If you are going to bow hunt, you can be extremely successful if you put the scouting time in. If you hunt early morning, don't be afraid to walk around for a couple hours after the hunt (say 11-1 or 12-2) to look for fresh sign. After the rut is over, the bucks start grouping back up (and the does do also) so you can find where they like to bed, feed, and walk. January is a great time for bow hunting because the bucks are still coming out in the daylight to feed.
After the season ends, do some scouting whenever you can. You'll find their late season spots... remember those spots for late next season. In the spring and early summer, do some scouting in the mornings to find some early season spots. Once the rut starts going, all bets are off since they split up and are cruising. You might be able to find a certain buck's home territory if you're lucky.
Bottom line, look at apps like OnX, find some terrain features that you think might be promising, and put boots on the ground to scout those areas. Those spots might be really close to parking, or they might be miles out. Deer don't know how far away they are supposed to be. Me personally, I go deep in the woods because I don't like seeing other people when I'm out there hunting. To each their own.

quote:I've hunted hard over here the past weeks. I'm seeing bucks and does, but no bucks I want to take yet. The freezer is full so I'm being picky. I had a real pretty 8-point under me 2 mornings ago but he was maybe 2.5 years old so he got a pass. Today I had 5 does come through but nothing following. Yesterday I got to watch a dozen turkeys strut past me but didn't see any deer. Even though I haven't drawn the string back recently, it's been a fun week.
Back at it in Ouachita Parish
Rained all morning.
Saw horns walking in and hope it’s a good omen for things to come.

Feed went off but I believe Hamilton Christian won 27-14. St Fred couldn’t do anything after the onside recovery. Hamilton’s QB then ran another TD in. Javon Vital is a really good player.

quote:I hunt D’Arbonne, Black Bayou, and Russell Sage. It hasn’t kicked off yet. They are pushing at D’Arbonne but weren’t full chasing. The warm weather messed them up but this week should be good. Black Bayou and Russell Sage are typically a week or so later than D’Arbonne. But the rut is more drawn out I believe here. Now through mid-December should be good.
If I recall, you hunt near us. Has the rut kicked off? I’ll be up next weekend and hoping I’m not too late.

Awesome buck! Were you way high and started in high shoulder and exited lower belly? Nice shot angled like that Looks like an old swamp donkey. 6pt?
He was slightly quartering to me and about to walk off so I put it right shoulder with the exit aimed at lower belly. Ended up getting both lungs. I was roughly 25’ up.
