Much rather tonight than Lafayette. That game Wednesday is their WORLD SERIES! Cheapest ticket is $243 dollars for a midweek. Insanity. Rather lose to a team from New England than those corny fricks in Lafayette with their LSUA&Ms and their Napoleon complexes.

Will they steamroll through the Big Ten? Probably. Is the Big Ten a weaker baseball conference? Definitely. But they just went 3-0 against quality SEC programs this weekend…you can’t really use the “haven’t played anybody” excuse. Played LSU and Ark in Omaha last year, I’m sure they learned lessons from those two losses, they know what to do to reach that level even though they won’t play a full SEC schedule like LSU does. Also the RPI takes strength of schedule very much into account, I find it’s a very good metric, a good mix of SOS and straight W-L record. They’ll be appropriately seeded in the bracket

Midweek losses suck in the moment don’t get me wrong, but it’s not a big deal as long as you don’t lose like 3 or 4 more of them. Enough home midweek losses to teams like that can tank RPI and potentially be the difference in a host and a 2 seed. But McNeese isn’t that bad. Not like they lost to Miss Valley State or someone like that. Southland is a solid baseball conference. Maybe the best of the non-FBS conferences in baseball

Probably more radio listeners this week than normal due to game not being on SECN, but I’m just curious. Normally, how many of you listen on radio, and what affiliate? Or do you stream the audio online?
I run the boards for a lot of LSU baseball games on 99.7 in Monroe. Curious about the general size of the radio audience these days, especially outside of the flagship station Eagle 98.1

The NFL doesn’t care about outcomes of college games. Cam Ward never made the CFP and went number 1 overall last year. Caleb Williams was hated because he “never won big games” people questioned whether he was worthy of number 1 overall. Safe to say he was.
Will Howard, national title winning QB in 2024, went in the sixth round. Even the hated Shedeur got drafted before him.
JJ McCarthy got glazed in college because “all he does is win football games” and he was the 5th QB taken in his draft, and now he’s the most ridiculed player in the entire NFL.
Stetson Bennett too! Won more games and championships than almost any other college QB ever, taken on Day 3 and will likely never be anything more than a backup.

That’s 1 random matchup, 1 team out of 16 vs 1 team out of 18. A big outlier too. Not only the best team in the B1G this year, the first ever 16-0 national champion. Versus what, the third or fourth best team in the SEC?
The combine invite numbers give us a true picture of the entire conferences, best all the way down to the worst, against each other rather than just random unbalanced matchups or bowl games where all the teams are playing with a skeleton crew that isn’t representative of the team that showed up for three months of the regular season.

No wonder the SEC has struggled in bowl games recently…more guys going to the NFL Draft means more opt-outs. Also making this even more impressive is that the SEC only has 16 teams compared to the B1G’s 18 teams

People are missing the purpose of the NFL…it’s a SPORTING COMPETITION, at least it’s supposed to be. It’s not entertainment, it’s sports. Sports can be entertaining, but entertainment shouldn’t be the primary purpose. It’s competition and as Herm Edwards said you PLAY TO WIN!!!! You want scripted entertainment go watch WWE. I’d rather win 7-6 than lose 45-42 all day long. Sadly most people these days don’t seem to agree.

Nobody will remember this in the future because SF lost, but Jauan Jennings had a hell of an SB two years ago
He was the number 3 WR for SF that year. Pretty much a nobody. 19 catches in the regular season, only 1 TD.

I totally get why they have a bye week in between the conf champ games and Super Bowl. For the purposes of the game itself, I’m all in favor of giving the teams a bye to try to get to full health for the Big Game. Some years a team makes the Super Bowl and hasn’t had a bye since October.
But holy frick, there’s nothing I hate more than these two weeks. So many ridiculous takes, there’s only so much you can say about one game. I feel like all the angles and storylines are exhausted before you even get to the true Super Bowl week. Then there’s the nothing burger that is “Super Bowl opening night” next Monday night (media day.) Radio Row. NBA is meh. College baseball still yet to come. MLB far away. Sometimes I wish it was just one week in between games. Get football behind us quicker and move on to NFL draft season. Only so much you can say about one game. At least there’s still some coaching stuff to sort out I guess

In reality, nobody has a clue how hard or easy ND’s schedule will be. This is just people getting their excuses warmed up because they know ND is usually pretty good and this past year might have been an anomaly. Even if their schedule ends up a lot harder than it looks people will still stand by the “easy schedule” narrative because they simply refuse to give Notre Dame any credit whatsoever.

Let me be clear, we all know that Nix is a better TALENT than Stidham. But QB is about 20% physical and 80% mental. And on the mental side, if Stidham beats New England, Bo Nix will suffer a huge blow to his ego/confidence. No way around it.
There’s two weeks in between the conf champ and SB, media beats the Super Bowl talk to death. There will be so many of these takes out there: “Super Bowl Stiddy!” “Stidham has more AFC title game wins than Nix” “This proves that Nix is a system QB” “I don’t know man, something about this Stidham guy, he’s just clutch, I don’t think Nix would have won that game.” Just like how they did with Golding/Kiffin after the Sugar Bowl.
We saw it with Carson Wentz and Nick Foles. Yes Wentz won the job back when healthy, but he was never the same player mentally. Foles was basically a God in Philly after the SB win, Big Dick Nick, etc, while Wentz was completely tossed aside and forgotten. Bad news for the “natty should be on a weekend” crowd. Guarantee a Friday/Saturday night natty would not get this many viewers because casual fans wanna go out on weekends. Everybody at home doing nothing on Monday night = largest possible audience

Who started this “easy schedule” narrative about the Patriots? No they don’t have an easy schedule, they’re making their schedule LOOK easy because they’re that good. I mean Drake Maye is probably gonna finish second in MVP voting, and with what weapons to throw to? An over the hill Stefon Diggs and a bunch of JAGs at WR.
Other than that, they’re just so damn well coached and so good at the fundamentals. No superstars outside of Maye, just so good at execution and the little things that matter, in all three phases of the game. You would think people would love that and yet they get relentlessly hated on.
I mean they’re about to be 16-3 on the year and 2 of those losses were in September before they really started to find themselves. That’s exactly what’s wrong with sports media these days and Twitter makes it worse.
