Of note, Smoothie King was started in Kenner but has no more connection here outside of naming rights for the place where a terribly ran team plays.
A South Korean franchisee bought it and the HQ is in Coppell, TX

About to be a global supply problem and the Iran conflict is the cover-up. Gas prices and the Saudi refinery fire check out as well. Given everything else, e.g. the EV revolution, wouldn’t shock me if we’re approaching peak oil territory and it’s not being revealed to stop morons from hoarding fuel/exacerbating the problem
The R/P ratio has stayed surprisingly stable around 40–50 years for decades because reserves keep getting added faster than we use them up.

I see 7 percent rise as showing experts see this as ending quickly.
If they though the Strait of Hormuz or major ports were to affected for long periods the price rise would have run at least well into double digits today.

Trump is finally doing what no one else has been brave enough to do
Carter is the root cause of more bloodshed than any President in my lifetime.
If Carter had decisively retaken Iran—crushing the 1979 revolution instead of dithering while Khomeini consolidated power—the Islamic Republic never rises. No regime exports revolution, funds Hezbollah (formed 1982), arms Hamas, backs militias in Iraq/Syria/Yemen, or launches proxy wars across the region. No Iranian-backed terrorism wave. No 1983 Beirut barracks bombing (241 U.S. dead). No endless proxy attacks on Israel, U.S. forces, or shipping. No nuclear program fueling today's crises.Regional stability holds: a pro-Western Iran under the Shah likely deters radicalism, starves jihadist momentum, and prevents the ideological vacuum that helped breed al-Qaeda. 9/11—fueled by anti-U.S. rage amplified by perceived American weakness post-hostage crisis and revolution—likely never happens. One failure of nerve in 1979; decades of bloodshed avoided. Weakness invites catastrophe.

A New Orleans legend...
Great idea: A law that if a drunk driver kills a parent, they pay child support,.,..

quote:
A Missouri lawmaker is pushing a bill that would require people convicted of killing a parent while driving under the influence to pay child support to the surviving children. The bill, known as Bentley and Mason’s Law, is named after the two young boys who lost their parents in an April 2021 crash.
Under the proposal, if the offender is sentenced to jail, child support payments would begin one year after their release. Payments would end when the child turns 18 or 21, depending on the child’s age at the time of the parent’s death.

Trump doesn't give the first shite about you poors.
Trump is a total arrogant jackass, no doubt about it. But we weren't given a choice like Lincoln or Douglas.
Trump got elected both times and would have won the middle election if not for the pandemic because of Hillary and how the Democrats have continued to go down a woke path.
Hillary Clinton and her cronies in the media deliberately propped up Trump during the 2016 primaries because they thought he was the easiest Republican to beat. They wanted him as the nominee so bad—internal emails and leaks show her team obsessed with facing the "easiest to beat" Trump instead of tougher opponents like Bush or Cruz. They held back real dirt on him early, saving it for later, while their pals at CNN and MSNBC gave him endless free airtime.
Folks forget that Trump got billions in free media coverage—nearly $2 billion worth by some counts—way more than any other candidate, with networks like CNN and MSNBC wall-to-wall on his every tweet and rally, often letting him dominate the airwaves unchallenged in the primaries. Meanwhile, Fox News was actually tough on him—Megyn Kelly grilled him hard in that first debate, and Trump got so pissed he boycotted Fox appearances and even declared a full boycott in 2015 over their treatment!
Add to that the Democrats have completely ditched their sacred cows like free speech and swapped them for insane garbage like embracing Sharia law in our communities, mutilating the genitals of confused little boys under the guise of "gender care," letting dudes who pretend to be women dominate female sports and then assault them in locker rooms, pushing euthanasia for depressed folks so the state can just off them, letting their DAs play revolving door with killers and rapists who go right back to terrorizing innocents, brainwashing everyone that white men are pure evil and the root of every problem on Earth, pushing race and gender quotas over actual skills in jobs and promotions so incompetents rise to the top, opening our borders to flood us with criminals, terrorists, and welfare drains that bankrupt our cities and states, crafting eco-fanatic policies that crush businesses, kill jobs, and halt progress in the name of "saving the planet" from imaginary doomsday, turning everyday words into hate crimes that get people canceled or jailed, forcing schools to teach kids that America is a racist hellhole, celebrating drag queens twerking for toddlers in libraries, demanding reparations handouts based on skin color from people who never owned slaves to those who never were slaves, banning meat and gas stoves because "climate justice," and letting biological men invade women's prisons where they prey on female inmates.
So, the folks on the right are not the reason for Trump being President. It is Hillary and the woke left.

Joseph Goebbels had a PhD in philology (literature and drama). Alfred Rosenberg had a PhD in engineering. Bernhard Rust had a Doctorate in German philology and philosophy. Josef Mengele had a PhD in physical anthropology and an MD.
The degrees made them no less pieces of diseased rat excrement like this professor.

Dryel works pretty well on a suit.
I might not use it on more delicate items but on most suits it does fine and if you hang it up right out the dryer almost no ironing is required.

There are a lot of folks who are smart enough to not want to be on the Forbes 400 even thouigh they would qualify..
Someone like Todd Graves cannot help it because he and his company are so visible but many of the ones that can hide it do so for privacy and such.
I know one guy who hid his status for years. He owned most of a private energy company. His mistake was a large donation to his alma mater. That got the Forbes folks to look at his real net worth. There is actually a staff that works on it. I know another that once was majority shareholder in a company most have heard of but sold it before he was noted as a billionaire and started a private venture capital firm.

They could "destigmatize" rape with adjunct research on animals.
..and murder, even infanticide,,,
quote:
Yes, behaviors that resemble what humans call rape—specifically forced copulation or sexual coercion where one animal (usually a male) uses force, harassment, or intimidation to mate despite clear resistance from the other (usually a female)—do occur in many non-human animal species.Scientists typically avoid the word "rape" when describing non-human animals because it is a human legal and moral concept that involves intent, consent as a conscious choice, and societal violation. Animals lack human-style moral frameworks, language, or legal systems. Instead, researchers use terms like:forced copulation
sexual coercion
coercive mating
harassment leading to mating
These behaviors are documented across many groups (mammals, birds, insects, fish, etc.) and are often studied in the context of sexual conflict (evolutionary tension between male and female reproductive interests).Well-Documented ExamplesHere are some of the most studied and frequently cited cases:Ducks and other waterfowl (e.g., mallards, forced copulation is common; males have evolved corkscrew-shaped penises to overcome female resistance, while females have evolved counter-adaptations like clockwise vaginal spirals and "dead-end" pouches to dump unwanted sperm. Gang attacks by multiple males sometimes drown females.)
Orangutans (especially Bornean orangutans; forced copulations are frequent, particularly by unflanged/subordinate males, and aggression occurs in a high percentage of matings—even when females resist.)
Bottlenose dolphins (males form alliances to herd, chase, and coerce females into mating; the behavior is often violent and prolonged.)
Chimpanzees (males use aggression, intimidation, and punishment to coerce females and reduce their mating with rivals.)
Bed bugs and other insects (traumatic insemination—males pierce the female's body wall to inject sperm, causing injury.)
Scorpionflies (males sometimes use force when they cannot offer a food gift to gain mating.)
Seals/sea otters (male sea otters have been observed forcibly mounting and sometimes killing juvenile harbor seals.)
..and murder, even infanticide,,,
quote:
Yes, animals of the same species (conspecifics) frequently kill each other in many species—this is called intraspecific killing or lethal intraspecific aggression. Scientists document it across a wide range of animals, from insects and fish to birds and mammals. However, biologists almost never use the word "murder" for non-human animals."Murder" is a human legal and moral term that implies premeditation, malice aforethought, intent to kill unlawfully, and violation of societal norms around killing. Animals lack human-style consciousness of morality, laws, or abstract intent in the same way. Their killings are driven by instinct, evolutionary pressures, and immediate survival/reproductive benefits—not by concepts like revenge, hatred, or criminality. So researchers describe it as aggression, infanticide, adulticide, territorial fighting, or coalitionary violence instead. How Common Is It?Studies of over 1,000 mammal species show that lethal violence within species occurs in roughly 40% of them, though rates vary hugely:In most mammals, it's rare (around 0.3% of deaths overall from conspecific killing).
But in highly social, territorial, or group-living species, it's much higher.
Primates (including humans' close relatives) show elevated rates—about 8 times higher than the average mammal.
Meerkats top some "murderousness" lists, with ~20% of deaths caused by other meerkats (mostly dominant females killing subordinates' pups).
Main Types and ExamplesInfanticide (killing of infants/young offspring) — by far the most common form in mammals.Males often kill unrelated young to bring the mother back into estrus (fertile condition) sooner, increasing their own mating chances. Classic examples:Lions: New males taking over a pride kill existing cubs (up to 80% of cubs may die this way before age 2).
Langur monkeys, baboons, chimpanzees, dolphins, bears, and many primates/rodents.
Females kill to reduce competition for resources, defend their own offspring, or maintain dominance (e.g., dominant meerkat or banded mongoose females kill subordinates' pups; prairie dogs, some seals/sea lions).
Occurs in ~30% of mammal species surveyed, across groups like lemurs, cats, bats, squirrels.
Adult killing (adulticide) — less common than infanticide but documented in hundreds of species.Males kill rival males over mating access, territory, or dominance (e.g., lions, tigers, deer during rut fights, elephant seals, kangaroos).
Coalitionary attacks: Groups gang up to kill (e.g., chimpanzee patrols raid neighboring groups, killing adults in "wars" over territory/females; similar in some lions, wolves).
Females kill to protect offspring or resources (e.g., defending against infanticidal intruders).
Other cases:Chimpanzees: High rates of lethal aggression, including inter-group raids and occasional intra-group killings (sometimes with cannibalism).
Dolphins: Documented attempts to kill infants, plus violent herding/coercion.
Even herbivores like hippos or certain gazelles show fatal fights.

I hear you and there is room for discussion here for sure. But I believe with the growth of Freret Street and Ochsner buying up tons of properties near baptist, there may be a few streets with crappy houses, but no bad areas on the university side of Napoleon and riverside of Claiborne. Plus Freret and Napoleon (where the new Trader Joes is going) is like 12 blocks from Loyola's campus.
There used to be some rough areas near campus between Carrolton and Broadway, but those areas have long gentrified.
A block from the most expensive school in the state which is in that area.

I also hope your child does not wish to express any unwoke thought at any level as they are quite intolerant about that.
In my opinion it is worth less than a UNO degree.
For the average student chasing prestige,or broad career doors it's not worth it; You can get similar or better academics/value at state flagships like LSU, It has outdated facilities, inconsistent student life, and limited opportunities compared to bigger state schools.
