re: Parent advice with kid about to start driving- insurance etc

If there is room in your family dynamics or arrangements, real appreciation for the responsibility of driving comes from paying you monthly for the insurance.
re: Exxon Believes Venezuela Currently Is “UnInvestable” As Trump Pushes Oil Plan…

This is what I'd like to believe.
This is nothing but a flex from the deep state's hold on big oil. It's Exxon being muscled to resist DJT because he's introducing $/resources from elsewhere that will loosen big oil's stranglehold on control of the global petro market and its wealth.

Frazier's Homestead in Baker LA does rides. Beautiful pastures and oak bottomland along the Comite river.

Unbelievable and tragic. Whatever you think about his opinions or politics he exemplified the philosophy of speaking politely and respectfully with those who disagree.
That isn't just a virtue, it is the essential structure of democracy. It is the mechanism by which democracy must function.
Assassinations have happened before but this is another terrible moment in American history. Endorsement of peaceful speech and nonviolence must be seen to be more viable than using intimidation and violence. Otherwise the structure of governance will lose credibility and power.
If you hated Charlie Kirk's ideas that was and is your right - but today you have a moral obligation to honor his contribution to free speech and Socratic dialogue. Speaking up in defense of the life and rights of those you abhor is the best evidence of integrity and your belief in democratic institutions.

re: Does anyone have knowledge on the roadwork on Sullivan Rd between Wax and Hooper?!
Posted by uncommon sense on 8/6/25 at 1:37 pm to SmackDaniels
It's pathetic. Was part of central's initial strategic plan, backed by "a traffic study" [performed nearly 20 years ago] to have sullivan widened, have hooper widened, and have wax widened.
All should have been done YEARS ago. Matter of fact, they should also have a hooper rd to watson (LA1019 or LA16) bridge in place by now, too.
P&Z/council/mayor keep allowing residential development and keep screwing up logical necessary infrastructure improvements. But they got that city hall going in on the donated schoolboard property.

No. No need. I read you loud and clear. Utnapishtim, Zusudra, Atrahasis, the round ark, the cube shaped ark...those guys.
Definitely relevant. At least to the 'found all the proof guy' comment that was posted.

re: LA Deer hunters, how was your season?

Hunted a lot after Thanksgiving. Saw very few deer. Am more aggravated over the mysteries of the SELA "rut".
re: Headlight bulb recommendations for my truck?
Posted by uncommon sense on 2/20/25 at 9:24 pm to TheRouxGuru
This is really very simple. Go to Amazon. Type in the search, your headlight bulb number and the letters "led".
Pick the ones with the highest lumens and highest/best reviews, at the price point you're willing to pay.
Install.
Profit.

There is a kit to drop a 90's GM 3800 V6 in a samurai. Easily lifted with shackles or a spring over axle setup.
Do it.

re: Age of this deer?
Posted by uncommon sense on 12/9/24 at 8:06 am to LPLGTiger
There are physical attributes that make me think that buck is young. At least "younger" than "mature". He's an "adolescent" buck. Genetics and habitat/nutrition play into whether he's 2-1/2 or 3-1/2 or 4-1/2.
Legs look long for body
General muscular/athletic looking build
Hind quarters more pronounced than front shoulders
Neck/brisket contour discontinuous
Neck not very girthy
If he's a piney forest buck, he could be 4-1/2. If he's a good soil/ag field buck, he might be 2-1/2. Where does he live?
