I was in a bar in north Texas. The channel was changed from Oregon/Oregon st. to SEC Champ. game. The crowd overwhelmingly asked the tv's be changed back to Oregon/Oregon St. Main reason given: Cam Newton/Auburn cheated, and the game will eventually be vacated.
Personally, I think it's rediculous to pretend many other programs don't do the same, but the national perception of Auburn is they have to put down cash to get kids to sign.

I would be very surprised.
Donna Shalala is the alpha and omega at Miami, and she has zero tolerance for the type of baggage Davis would bring with him. This is why I think Mullen would be a great candidate for Miami, in terms of what Shalala is looking for: successful and straight as an arrow (just like Shannon, but... successful).

The folks that actually cause LSU to be a yearly powerhouse in football would completely disagree with this statement.
Let's grow up a bit and be honest with ourselves. A true fan is one that puts significant money into the system. You can cheer until you head explodes, and that creates a nice enviroment that might, on occasion , if the stars are aligned properly, help the football team succeed. The players, coaches, and admin. will bend down pat you on the head and tell you that you are the difference makers, but if they had to choose between those that give significant money quietly or those that give no money loudly... you'd be dropped like bad habit.
My worthless suggestion would be to cheer or complain at your prerogative. It won't make any differnce. For those that don't give significant funds to the system, enjoy LSU football for what it is... entertainment, just like a movie. Does it really matter (or make any sense) to say you're a true fan of a certain movie?

Slightly off topic, but does anyone notice that when miles gives the 2 question interview going into or coming out of halftime, he completely fails to answer the questions? Sometimes his answer isn't even on topic?

Hey, I can appreciate that most fans have an over-inflated opinion of their coach, but let's not let it invade our common sense.
I'm not an LSU supporter, nor am I a supporter of texas, georgia, oregon, or penn state; but I've never witness someone take such a small smattering of happenings and extrapolate such a bizaar conclusion that is couched in your bias for Les Miles.
If I were to take a hypothetical coaches poll ranking those five coaches, miles would end up last. He may have pretty record, but respect from his peers, I'm not so sure. And if we're talking about how great a coach is, that should be the true litmus test.

Pirate, if your belief is correct: that R.P. is a big reason for the recent and current offensive woes, it is a severe indictment of the program as a whole. Under no circumstances, at a program like LSU, should a single player cause a three year offensive debacle of titanic proportions. Someone has either recruited or planed quite poorly... I'll let you figure out who to defend for that.

Any team worth their salt will have roughly 6 close games throughtout the year that are decided in the final minutes. Whether they end up as W's or L's is a fine line, but with QB being arguably the weakest link on the field, I would have to bet that LSU loses more of those close games than they win.
My personal opinion is that LSU has become too predicatble (partly through coaching, and partly do to shotty QB play). My hope is that QB production will solve this problem. If SEC coaches see that QB production has not improved from last year, I think most of those close games will not go LSU's way this year. Again, nobody hopes I'm wrong more than me.

I'm not sure I'd bet the farm that LSU will be better at the QB spot than they were last year. Also, I don't think it will matter how much the O-line improves... if a team in the SEC is determined to stop the run, more times than not, it will. LSU will have to get better than better production from the QB spot for the team to improve as a whole. If you're one-dimensional in the SEC, you're likely no better than a 6-6 team.
Even though the defense wasn't half-bad last year, their capabilities were limited due to the time spent on the field. I don't see how that will change this year (without good QB production) even if there is improvement there, as well. LSU's offense must be able to sustain drives; a constant stream of 3-and-outs will kill the best of defenses.

Here's what it boils down to: Until LSU can field a QB that opposing coaches respect, LSU is in a world of hurt.
Just my opinion, but if I were game planning against LSU, I would focus 95% of my defensive effort on stopping the run game (i.e., force the QB to beat me). A likely result: LSU would pick up 0-2 yards per run play, the offensive line would look bad, 2nd and 3rd-and-longs will come often, and third-and-short would be LSU's achillies' heel. LSU's defense should be improved, but how could you tell when they're on the field 3/4 of the game due to an anemic offense?
Unless any of LSU's QB's perform well above expectation, this team will finish somewhere between 6-6 to 8-4. Very little improvement, if any, from last year.

I'm really an innocent bystander here (a semi-LSU fan via my wife, who is a hard-core fan); but how in the world can you degrade Kelly for his statement about Miles? I'm not really sure how anyone can defend Miles after last weekend. If Vince Lombardi jumped from his grave and said Miles made one of the greatest coaching gaffes in college football history (which coincidentally is what EVERYONE outside the State of LA - including Mile's peers - are saying or inferring) some of you would claim, "the NFL was week in that day, and until Lombardi coaches in the SEC, he should just STFU!" Utterly ridiculous.
And by the way, who do you think would win in a matchup this year, LSU or Cincinnatti? Better yet, who do you think would've won that matchup last year? Big East or not, a vast majority would not put their money on LSU.

This makes absolutely no sense to me on any level. I simply cannot see this working-out at all.
I think we can all agree that its tougher to win in the SEC west than in the Big12 north. If Chizik goes 5-19 (or worse) in his first two years at Auburn, I just don't see how he survives.
Also, I think we can all agree that its monumentally tougher to recruit regional talent in the SEC west than in the Big12 north. You cannot convince me that this man will entice top- tier talent to dismiss Miles, Saban, Nutt, Petrino, Meyer, Richt, etc. and play for him.
Given enough time, Chizik may be able to build a reputation and a successful program, but I'll bet Auburn will only give him 2-3 years max to finish with a winning record, and that's just not going to happen.
