After what I saw from a lot of pitchers who were supposed to take the next step this year, I hope not. That doesn't even take into account his horrible pitch calling.

. The few I've tried are slightly above Taco Bell level quality. It's hard to find any with a rating higher than 4.5 with many complaints about the quality of food and service.

Maybe number 1 picks by their teams is what they mean? It doesn't say number 1 overall picks. That's my guess.

Why do you have Kucherak at SS and not Braswell?
I also think we'll be looking to bring in another catcher to compete as a starter. At this point, not sure Jay would want to rely on Neal's defense and his offense against any pitcher worth a damn wasn't inspiring either. That said, I do think he'll start the season there. Hopefully, he can make strides with his defense like we saw White make last off-season.

I think we just witnessed the floor for LSU baseball under Jay Johnson. That's just to say, tough regional losses under Jay will be the floor.
We had no business making it this far after all the talent and leadership we lost last year. I know many like to ignore that, but it is what it is and it's very difficult to replace that type of generational talent and top notch leadership.

Yea. I think there was some hope because of how we finished the season and what we did in the SEC tourney, but I think that had more to do with facing Ole Miss and also playing teams in the SEC tourney that had already clinched their tourney spots or weren't throwing their best pitchers because of how the pitching days fell for the most part.
Whenever we faced good pitching this year, we struggled for a majority of those games.

I'd have told you we would win and would be hosting a super regional next weekend.
With the pitching we had available, I didn't think holding that lineup to 4 runs would have been possible.
I know many of us want to try and narrow it down and single out certain players or certain plays, but at the end of the day, only scoring 3 runs with some of the players we have in this lineup is simply atrocious and was a total team effort (or lack there of). The fact we only had 5 hits and only drew 2 walks (which were both by Jared Jones) is embarrassing. Have to give some credit to their defense, but still a horrible performance by our offense, which was a common occurrence far too often throughout the season.
White went 1-5, no RBI
Milam 0-5
Pearson went 1-5 and at least had an RBI
Braswell went 0-3
Neal 0-4
Trav 1-4, no RBI
Brown had a solo HR but finished 1-4
Jared Jones (GOAT) went 1-2 with a solo shot, but maybe even crazier, he's the only player on the team who was able to take base on balls, with 2. Those were the only BB we got the entire game.
Then you had Larson 0-2 and Kling and Frey both 0-1 with Ks.
It's tough to overcome that type of performance at the plate when you're bullpen is depleted and wasn't something you could rely on all season. Yet, thanks to an awesome performance by Hellmers, we still had a chance.

I'm going to pout for a week or so and probably not watch any super regionals. Although, I say that now, but come Friday I'll probably be watching some. Then, I'll maybe watch a couple of games of the CWS depending on who all makes it.
It's a tough time right now for sports fans. I watch some MLB, but when the Astros suck (as they do this year) it makes it difficult to get into. NBA finals coming up, so at least there's that. Belmont too. After those are over, I might just go into hibernation until football season.
