dang so you would lose the Mediterranean in addition to the ME. That kinda blows, pending what the African ports wind up being. Although the addition of the Indian Ocean stops would be cool.

what do you do on the ship when you are at sea for three or four days at a time? That’s the part that I wouldn’t be able to do. I get antsy

Losing the ME is a major bummer as I have not been to that area. I am hoping Trump can clear out Iran in a week and turn his attention to those Houthi and Somalian pirates. So, going around South Africa, we would jump off the ship for 5-6 days and visit Victoria Falls and get a safari in. I think going around South Africa also means losing stops in India. I don't have a keen interest in visiting India other than getting to the Taj Mahal.

The sea days start at the beginning (5 days to Hawaii) and then 4 days to French Polynesia. I hope to learn how to work on a travel blog and create YouTube videos during that time.

This is so wild. Just casually dropping you’ve been on 78 cruises, and are about to spend 120 days on one.

Do you pick up and drop off passengers throughout the voyage? Or are you with the same people the whole 120 days? I suppose if it’s all the same people, it probably averages $60-100k per person? Probably keep the riff raff to a minimum.

What’s the food like on these things? I’ve never been on a cruise where I thought the food was particularly good.

I don't hunt or fish. Got down to a -8 handicap in golf but have not played in 20-25 years. so, I cruised and cut grass as hobbies. Retired in November so decided why not a world cruise?

The cruise started in Los Angeles and was 197 days (100 passengers). I think there are 400 passengers who are doing 180 days and got on in Miami. Believe (round numbers) there are 300 of us joining in San Diego.
There are passengers doing different segments but total the ship holds 1200 passengers and is sold out. I am sure numbers will drop once the announcement of a itinerary change.

Oceania says it has the finest cuisine at sea and having sailed with them before a number of times, it is really good food. One problem for me is I have dropped 70 pounds over the past year, so I will try to minimize my food intake.

The cruise fare started at around $55k for the segment (180 days) that we are sailing. Our fare is north of that figure because of the cabin we selected.

and you’re right I wouldn’t be shocked if you wind up rounding cape of good hope instead of the Suez Canal crossing. I wonder what that would do to your port schedule I assume it’s flexible

Oceania had notified us about a year ago that a second itinerary was developed in case the Suez Canal was a no go. We will lose 21 ports and gain 13 ports, so an increase in sea days. The ship has to reach Miami on July 6th for the future cruise itineraries. Just a super bummer but we knew when we booked it that this was a distinct possibility.

One of the passengers created a YouTube video discussing the 2nd itinerary and the link is below

I started using a GoPro 13 in my travels and decided to start creating YouTube videos using photos and videos taken using my iPhone and the GoPro.

I am having a very difficult time transferring the photos and videos to my PC.

Any suggestions on the best and easiest way to transfer these?

My second question is which program is the easiest to create YouTube videos? I have both Adobe Premiere Pro and CapCut. The Adobe program to be honest just frightens me as I cannot get a hang of it. I have created a couple of sample videos using CapCut using the app but I cannot use it on my PC because I cannot get the files transferred to my PC from the iPhone and GoPro.

Thanks for any suggestions or direction you can provide.

Around the World Cruise

Posted by FourchonRoad on 3/1/26 at 2:28 am
Starting ATW cruise March 7th out of San Diego aboard the Oceania Vista. I have sailed on 78 cruises in my life but the longest has been 30 days. This cruise is 120 days. It will be interesting for me to see if I can make it for 120 days. Unfortunately, one of the main areas I wanted to see I am sure will be changed and the Suez Canal transit will be deleted and a trip around South Africa will take its place.

I am thinking of starting a travel blog to keep track of the trip and maybe YouTube videos, but I am hearing the Wi-Fi on the ship blocks streaming, so it is difficult to create or work on a blog or video.
I start ATW cruise on March 7th which was scheduled to transit the Suez Canal. I figured a 5% chance the itinerary would not be changed but now I am at 100% chance that we are sailing around South Africa instead of the Suez Canal.

I'd vote for a dead or alive Osama bin Laden before I would vote for Bill Cassidy. I ALWAYS vote straight party line even for a dog catcher but I will vote outside the R party if I have to.
My three favorites

St. Petersburg Russia
Tokyo Japan
Although not a city just left Antarctica - truly an amazing location to visit
Will add Oslo Norway to my likes

Least favorite
Istanbul Turkey
Manila Philippines

Antarctica

Posted by FourchonRoad on 1/23/26 at 7:43 pm
We just finished a four day “drive by” of Antarctica and now heading for The Falklands. I NEED to learn how to post photos as it was really amazing. Any help in pointing me in the right direction to post videos and photos to the group I would really appreciate it. All my photos and videos are backed up to my iPhone, laptop and cloud but I can’t figure out how to post those here.

Thank you for any help

Researcher on board the cruise ship called it a dying iceberg that once was a huge iceberg that is now just a beautiful iceberg

Not bad huh for a university all you pussies claim is broke?
I miss the Big Orange at midfield in a night game
3rd and 11
4 seconds in the pocket
Throws a 2 yard pass
Hell might as well put LSU in the playoffs as it looked like a LSU play

LSU didn’t have an answer for him or the WR Concepcion. Miami defense especially the DL was impressive today

Thoughts on Texas A&M

Posted by FourchonRoad on 12/20/25 at 9:14 pm
I’m here to say that during the season I really thought Texas A&M was my pick to win it all. After the demolition of LSU I didn’t see any team (possibly Ohio State) that could hang with The Aggies.

The loss to Texas was a concern as it provided the blueprint on how to stop the A&M offense. Even after that loss I still thought A&M would advance through the bracket.

I feel bad for you guys as I really thought this your year.

I had given up on Alabama as they just seemed a step behind on every play. Come out the shower and tied at 17 and Oklahoma has a panicked look. WOW this turned around quickly.
