Fourchon thanks for keeping us posted on this adventure. Excellent job on the blog also. I don't think i would have the patience with the internet on the ship especially now that I see how many pics you post in your blogs
Thank you......I appreciate it. Sadly, tonight is the last night in Sydney so the Wi-Fi will suck again starting tomorrow night. Back to 4 second videos and 4 hours to upload 20-25 photos.

When we get back to the ship (jumped off for a few extra days in Sydney) I will be sure to tell him this. He will get a good laugh from it.

Super nice man. At 85 his memory is still sharp. Couple of things he pointed out were the Jacob Hester five runs on 4th down against Florida. He spoke a great deal about the game and Tebow but said the calls by Coach Miles and the Hester performance he would always remember. Also said Tiger Stadium is the loudest stadium he has ever visited. Shared some funny stories about Danielson and said man you guys (LSU fans) hated us when CBS changed night games to the afternoon. I told him yeah I was one of them.

Below is the link for our visit to Airlie Beach, Australia. While the day was a good one it became more interesting (towards the bottom of the day's blog) as I met someone that all of you know. It was a great visit, and I look forward to more with him.

Reminds me of a fake newspaper National Lampoon put out 50 years ago. One headline said, “Japan completely destroyed by earthquake”. Underneath it said, “Vacation plans of Iowa couple ruined”.
Enjoy your cruise. That sounds great.
Too funny, but true

re: Driving around central Europe, June/July. Need rental car advice...
Posted by FourchonRoad on 3/26/26 at 3:09 am to drjett
When I have driven around Europe on vacation, I have always used Hertz or National.
The biggest suggestion I can offer you is not to get the large vehicle like we would do in the states for a couple of reasons:
1. Parking is hard to come by and a smaller car is easier to park
2. You might visit some locations which are not made for a larger vehicle, like trying to get inside castle walls
I have found driving in Europe to be very easy. Just relax and enjoy

Just finished Day 16 of my World Cruise blog. Sadly, two negatives for the blog:
1. The ship Wi-Fi is beyond brutal. It takes 4-5 minutes to upload a photo and any video uploading is blocked.
2. My GoPro sprung a leak and I think it is finished. I have it packed in rice in a closed container and removed the SIM card. I will try to find a camera shop in Sydney to see if it can be salvaged. The good news I have insurance which will replace the GoPro. The bad news I have to wait until I get home in July to do the replacement. Also, bad news all my desire to film underwater is out the window.
As always, if you view the blog and have suggestions or ideas, please forward these to me. The blog continues to be a work in progress as I am still learning it and hope to make some changes soon to empty pages.

Just finished one day in Honolulu on a World Cruise. Our next port in Kona was cancelled and probably Honolulu should have been skipped also. Throughout the islands there is flooding and road closures. It was a miserable day trying to do anything in tropical force winds and rain.

An around the world cruise is absolutely a bucket list item for my retirement.
Is it mostly retirees? Or do yall have some work from home people?
Good itinerary and I like the overnights… hope it works out with minimal changes.
I believe it is probably 90% people who are retired. I spoke to an attorney on board and he is thinking of flying back home because he was going to do work from the ship but is unable to get through on Zoom calls because of the internet issues.
I think everyone is resigned to the fact that the Middle East is not going to happen.
Thanks for following the blog

that is awesome you clearly know what you are doing. Thank you for sharing it will be fun to follow along
Thank you for following the blog. First one I have done and really unsure still what I am doing. The biggest issue is the poor Wi-Fi connection speed on the ship. It is taking me 3-4 hours for each day because of the slowness in uploading photos. Like a passenger said for the prices we paid for this World Cruise you would think they would provide us with good internet service.

re: 3 days in Sydney Australia.
Posted by FourchonRoad on 3/5/26 at 2:01 am to MBclass83
Will be in Sydney April 9th for one day and then April 14-17th for three days. On the 9th we have book a full day private tour with Your Sydney Guide. When we fly back, we plan on doing the Sydney on our own.
Staying at Sydney Harbour Marriott @ Circular Quay. Thus far we have bought tickets to the Sydney Opera House performance Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony on April 15th and Journey Beyond Sydney Harbour Dinner Cruise on April 16th. I have never attended a symphony but could not pass up the chance to attend a performance inside the opera house.

When a colleague retired, he went on a 5-month ATW cruise on Seabourn in 2023. Miami to Barcelona. He said he could’ve done without the Western Africa segment (after being on the eastern side). Overall he liked it enough to book another one for 2027. Runs about $100,000/person and he spent close to another $100,000 on excursions including a 3-day safari in Africa
Seabourn is top notch as a cruiseline. Our cruise was about $80,000 a person as we added a couple of ship excursions that included over night off the ship. The remainder of our excursions added about $12,000 a person. While on the ship I will sit down and figure out the total cost.
