[Well yeah it's usually triggered by an irrelevant metaphor/question line or a straw man, which creates the need to go back to square one and get into semantics to eliminate those digressions.
Bad rhetoric leads to a need for clarification of the discussion, to summarize.
People have been primed/trained to engage in bad rhetoric b/c of lesser discussion avenues (like X, Reddit, Facebook comments, etc.) and they resist being taught what they consider proper is poor form. ]

Second of all, I've been thinking this for a long time. There are a small amount of people who get on here and derail every thread with no push back from the administrators. They are obviously paid or gain some sort of benefit from it. I have a hard time believing there are that many organic idiots that would frequent this forum.
