re: Predict the starting 5 on OL
Posted by wryder1 on 1/17/26 at 8:25 am to PenguinNinja
The biggest positive to having Kiffin running the offense will be that we can run up the score on lesser opponents so our depth can get meaningful PT unlike under Kelly. During BK’s tenure, the starters played 90% of the snaps because we couldn’t put many teams away so the depth never got good film to help develop. I’m really hoping we can use several 2nd halves to get the 2’s some PT on the Oline and make the reload easier the following year.

They’d go crazy because they feel the need to entertain their kids 24/7 in some organized fashion, instead of making them play outside, ride their bikes and etc. Being a stay at home mom is easier than ever because you don’t have to hand wash clothes, cook 3 meals a day and scrub the house. There are robots, vacuums, easy meals to cook and etc to help with all that. They choose to make life harder in order to keep up with Karen on FB.

1 LT and/or RT and call it a day. These coaches will need to squeeze every drop out of this freshman class because if they do, this defense can be ELITE. The fact that Baker hasn’t gone after any LB tells us that he is comfortable with that room.
Whit Weeks
Devhon Keys
Tylen Singleton
Keyland Moses
Zach Weeks
Jaiden Braker
CJ Jimcoily
Charles Ross
That’s a pretty stout room with speed. The difference between this next season and previous seasons is that we have quality depth at DT and DE, especially if the freshmen step up.

re: How will the portal affect high school recruting?
Posted by wryder1 on 1/13/26 at 2:55 pm to NorthTiger
You’re recruiting high school kids to be immediate depth or rotational pieces. You obviously take the kids that are willing to play for scholarship and a little cash so you have a practice squad but for the most part, you better be ready to compete or no NIL. If they expand the redshirt to include 9 games then this will absolutely change the game even more. Those Olinemen with 3-4 years under their belt will be highly sought after for depth. Give me the 23-24year old 3 star with a college developed body and experience over most 4 star seniors with “potential”.
I was at my house and looking forward to my work trip the next morning to South Carolina.

The fact we haven’t taken 1 LB and no LB has left means Baker must feel comfortable with what he has. That’s a good sign for developmental reasons. I’d like to see more development at Safety since Spears is the only non portal guy we have with meaningful snaps.
re: Those with a gym membership - what are you paying per month?
Posted by wryder1 on 1/13/26 at 6:18 am to StringedInstruments
I am a member at amp fitness in the colonnade which is about 3min from lifetime and it’s $10/m. It’s the old golds gym and had plenty of equipment. It is designed for the younger crowd but it’s cheap and has everything I need. Plus there aren’t to many young people up at 4:30am. I never go in the afternoons because it’s way to many people.
We said that last year, the year we played USCw, Oregon in 2011 and etc. Saying that, it will be highly anticipated due to finally having an offensive minded coach. This is the first time I’ve ever seen LSU go after and get the coach they wanted so that adds to the excitement. I just hope the defense can dominate until the offense finds its feet. There are so many new parts to the offense, scheme, players, QB and etc, that the defense MAY need to hold the rope early. Time will tell but I’m hoping we can all temper expectations. If we blow the doors off Clemson then all bets are off.

Don’t forget about adding Green to this since he is more of a receiver than a TE.

What else does this accomplish:
1. Saves us billions every time a Democrat is in office because they always end them money for whatever reason.
2. Minimizes an enemy hacker towards the US.
3. Stops their nuclear program from within.
4. Cuts off another oil resource from our enemies Russia and China.
5. Cuts off another member of Bricks and stabilizes the strength of the petro dollar.
6. Cuts off funding to other terrorist organizations.

There is world Police BS and then there is this. These clowns have threatened us and Israel with nuclear weapons and continue to try and build a bomb. They also cost us billions every time a Dem gets in to office because certain politicians like to send them pallets of cash. They cost us money, time, resources and they provide cheap oil to China and Russia. They also supply many of the terrorist organizations that harm our citizens and soldiers.
This kills so many birds with 1 stone.

Just to play devils advocate a little bit to keep the conversation going…. 1) The Oreschnik hypersonic missile is better than anything in the US arsenal, correct? 2) The Russians have weathered the sanctions and the Ukraine war quite well, it seems to me. Their army has more soldiers now than at the beginning of the war and they are combat hardened. 3) The Iranian/Venezuelan scenarios have yet to play out….how can you be so certain of success? Afghanistan? Iraq? Libya? Yemen? None of those were successful in the final analysis, no?
We have 20 years worth of battle hardened soldiers all while we are studying Russian and Ukrainian tactics. There have never been more cameras on a battlefield than there are right now.
As far as weapons, do you honestly think we touched any of our top secret weaponry against Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria or Venezuela? We slipped in a lot of aircraft to Venezuela and took their President, without losing a single person or asset. Let that sink in. That means they had no way of seeing us, locking in to us with their radar or everyone that could do that was dead.
We or may not have hypersonic missiles but whose to say that we deem that technology as old and have something far more lethal? If you’re going to fight China and/or Russia, you don’t do it fully reliant on kinetic arms. You have to starve them and make it very hard for them to move the numbers of men, food and weapons throughout that large country. What would knocking out all their dams look like for them?
The irony in all that. “At the end of the day there are rules and regulations and you just can’t walk behind the counter.” Kind of like having a border and at the end of the day you just can’t come across the border because there are rules and regulations.

So, hypothetical: School X can want local HS Hero to play QB for them- so rather than wait on bench a cpl yrs, School X advises them to go to a small school where they can win the start and get playing time and experience, and promise to “come get them in two years” when they are ready for the Big Time?
No, it’s like he said, it’s about roi. If it takes him 2 years to get ready then that could means it cost the team $2m/ yr so $4m to ride the bench. That’s $2m/year or $4m total, you could’ve spent on another position to start or multiple depth guys. If a developmental QB isn’t willing to sit at a highly discounted price then we can’t afford him on our roster because he takes away from other positions quality of depth. Let’s face it, typically when your starting QBgoes down, your season is over anyway. There are few exceptions but this holds true for the most part.

It’s just like in the real world, it’s all about production and not potential. Cignetti is absolutely right about this and it will hurt High school NIL deals. We should only go after 10-15 high school kids we absolutely think will help our depth chart. The rest need to come from men who have produced in CFB because we will know the work ethic, knowledge and ability are there.
All federal funding should be cut off until they’ve paid it all back to the national tax payers in full.
I said it when Coach O was fired that LK was the only guy to hire. My reasoning was that I absolutely hated playing the guy because he was going to score points, no matter how good your defense was. It didn’t matter where he was coaching, whether HC or OC, the guy knows how to attack your defense and score points. The only thing that held him back at Bama were injuries to his QB and Burrow and crew. The only thing that held him back at Ole Miss was talent level, but he did close that gap and get every ounce of juice out of what he had.
To win in today’s NIL world, you can’t load your roster with all 5 star guys that don’t want to reach their peak level. You need 5 star guys, leaders and guys that are hungry. You want to make more guys famous at LSU than bring in to many famous ones. To many egos will ruin a locker room. The NFL draft shows how much talent is at schools we’ve never heard of and Kiffin and Cignetti are really good at evaluating and finding that talent.
Oh and the most important thing:
KIFFIN KNOWS WHO HE IS AND WHAT HE IS LOOKING FOR. No more CEO’s adapting to every coordinator they hire and making square pegs to fit round holes bc we “needed” this guy because he’s a 4 star from Louisiana. It’s crucial you know who you are and what you’re looking for in order to be successful.

I’m glad you’re giving the guy who had only had an offense ranked under 35th in the country twice some latitude. The knows what the hell he is doing. Nobody knew who Judkins, Chambliss and Lacy were until Kiffin.

The NCAA created this cluster in every single stupid decision they’ve made. They made their bed and now they can watch as they’re pushed aside and a commissioner takes over.
Screw the NCAA. They’ve crapped on so many players in the past. They’ve issued unequal punishment and have been so inconsistent in the past that nobody will do anything to help them. I hope their entire entity is dismantled. They’ve created this entire storm with their own ineptness, shortsightedness and ignorance.
