Amari Allen also played his arse off. Looked nothing like a freshman playing against a legit top 5 team in MSG

I love how this main commentator seems to be surprised at how deep we are launching 3s.

I like what I’m seeing out of London Jemison
If you download the varsity network app you can listen to the Alabama sports network on the call, and it’s free

Posted on the preseason thread but posting here too: Sling day pass ($4.99) and sports extra for ($1 additional) will let you watch if you had YTTV like me

What a strong take and finish (should’ve been an and-1) for Hannah
48-36 good guys at halftime

Hannah does NOT play like a freshman. I’m a big fan already.

The Vanderbilt offense is so much fun to watch when you’re not all puckered up with our defense out there trying to stop it

Please sweet baby Jesus let it be so!
Horton and Cuevas are the most unsung players I can remember. Those guys bring it blocking and make clutch catches when we need them. Cuevas led the team in RAC yardage yesterday

The old razzle dazzle was unneeded drive killers, but the plan to chew clock and keep the chains moving was the best gameplan and we worked the hell out of that

Hang that shite in the Louvre! Great offensive gameplan and some actual defensive adjustments at halftime
We definitely need to win the time of possession again and keep Pavia on the sideline
Cuevas was my unsung player of the game last night. His blocking and clutch hands was like the second coming of Cam Latu
I’d be shocked, but he’s a good to great player and we have a spot I believe. It’s nice to dream

Their players should have a 30 day portal window. Be nice to get Pettiford!
re: My take on yesterday

I agree with your list completely. Big dick Bray coming on was needed. Simpson looking like AJ with Bryce pocket presence. I’ll single out Simmons- he didn’t look like a freshman much at all out there, and Isaiah Horton is pretty unsung, seems to have very reliable hands and his blocking doesn’t get enough praise. His effort has been great to see
Ty’s stats from the last 2 games:
41-46 608 yds 7 TDs 0 ints. If not for the 3 drops that I can remember on easily catchable passes, he’d be
44-46 somewhere around 700 and at least 8 TDs. Dude is playing about as efficiently and mistake free as you can be even against air. Knocking on wood!

It is mostly coaching, but there were definite effort issues as well. Which that could really point back to coaching as well

My .02 on the issues with the defense, particularly against the styles of offense that have completely dominated us. I have coached in offensive systems at the high school level that ran somewhat identical systems- zone read/RPO offenses.
1- Our box is too light. Most of these coaches are box counting (Gus especially.) We are lining up with 6 or less in the box on most plays. The offense has a built-in advantage with the 7 or even 8 players involved in these kinds of plays (5 OL, QB, RB and sweep).
2- We are lining up pretty much straight up regardless of formation strength or personnel. We have our nickel and dime backs split too wide without a formation need. We run a lot of 2-shade/2-5 techs with a LB in each B gap. So if the offense runs to their strength, they’ve got us right where they want us. Which leads to my next point…
3- we lose contain and option responsibility. Nobody sets the edge and it doesn’t even look like we have keys. Someone should be responsible for QB, RB and the sweep on every one of these zone reads or RPOs.
When we finally made an adjustment and put 7 in the box, we finally held up decently against the run unless we lost edge containment or missed tackles, which was a whole other issue itself.

Man, that would be pretty awesome to have him, Sexton and Miller all on the same team. It’d be like the Dolphins, Eagles or Commanders but the NBA version

Youngblood great again with a game-high 21 in 22 minutes on 7-12 shooting and 5-8 from 3. Looking like he’s gonna deserve a 3 and D spot on somebody’s roster.
Sears is yet to dress with a calf strain.
Apparently, Primo is out of the summer league with a foot injury.
Estrada with the Grizzlies up next at 9:30 CST
ETA: I spy Alex Reese on the Grizzlies’ bench.

The announcers at one point said that they do have a little room at guard, but my thinking is that the front office there is so good with player development, they got him to stash and develop in the G league until another guard gets too good to pay what OKC wants and they can bump him (or someone) up.
