When I was 12-15 in the early 80s, aluminum cans paid $.60/lb at the salvage yard. I started recycling them again 20 years ago and the price was $.40/lb. It stayed at that price until covid. It's now back to $,60/lb forty years later.

I have a friend that sits on a board of a small, local power co-op. They are 70% natural gas, 20% coal, 10% solar. Their biggest customer was an aluminum plant that went under in 2017. It came back online last year or 2024.

The Space Shuttle was a disaster, cost a billion bucks to refurbish between flights

These moon missions are currently $4.1B.

It's the level of commitment our country was comfortable with.

Space is expensive.

Money. It's all about funding, and the will of the government and the people

In today's dollars, we spent $350 billion over the 10 year Apollo program

Again, in today's dollars, we spent $250 billion over the 30 year space shuttle program.

Deron played when I was there. I didn't know his dad's or his brother's history.

He got that dog in him.

He's cute ain't he? Only problem is, he's got a little bit a Mississippi leg hound in 'im. If the mood catches him right, he'll grab your leg and just go to town. You don't want him around if you're wearing short pants, if you know what I mean. Word of warning though, if he does lay into ya, it's best to just let 'im finish.
Approximately 20–40% of George Washington University (GWU) undergraduate students pay the full "sticker price" for tuition, as around 60% to over 75% of students receive some form of financial aid, including institutional scholarships or need-based grants. That's not sams model either. They don't just take your word on it.

I like Costco, but checking out is the worst retail experience.

You can also order anything at the cafe through scan and go to skip that line.

They just call out your name when ready.

Maybe a hidden secret/maybe not, but their hot fudge sundae with two brownies mixed in is pretty awesome.

Japan spends 21.5% of GDP on social welfare systems that include universal health-care, public assistance that covers living and housing costs, a national pension, and elderly care

The United States spends approximately 22.7% of its GDP on public social expenditure (welfare), according to 2022 OECD data, placing it near the OECD average. When factoring in private social benefits (like employer-provided health insurance), the U.S. ranks higher, at nearly 30% of GDP

and we still have bums.

You can like someone without agreeing with everything they think or say. It worked for a long time before both parties and the media brainwashed you.

False.

You knew very, very few irl what their politics were. More in Hollywood and the assholes in the media said they were without bias and neural.

Businesses didn't take sides because they didn't want to piss off potential sales.

We all came together with sports because no one talked about it there.

Then the floodgates opened and some assholes said, "I'm not gonna let someone's political opinions affect my entertainment, herrumph!!!"

That was all she wrote.

Trucks like the 80s and 90s Toyota 4x4s and Nissan Hardbody trucks would sell like crazy now. And would be cost efficient. And would last.

Ohhh but no. Can't have that anymore. Daddy government gotta snuff that out.

How are we going to get you value buses and trains in your 15 minute city quadrant if you can afford to own your own transportation?

I think Medicaid will pay for nursing home if they have absolutely nothing.

If you live in a small town with few options, get that estate in a trust and let the Medicaid roll.

If you live in a moderate size city, you don't want yourself or any of your family in a facility that will accept Medicaid. Plan accordingly.

My parents were self-insured, lol( I can say that now) My dad spent 18 months straight in a nursing home 2013-2014 at $7000/month. My mother spent 2013-2022 in assisted living. Her facility started at $3500/mo in '13 and ended at $5500/mo in '22.

My mother ran out of money and assets towards the end of '20. I paid 16 months on my own without the help of three other brothers.

I'm guessing my dad's rate has doubled and my mom's is 20-30% higher now.

As a pediatrician I ask families to trust me when I speak about polio, hepatitis, varicella and hpv.

Today, I trust you as much as I trust your employer. A doctor's opinion was highly respected because through history you were independent. You sank or swam based on your correct or incorrect advice. Eighty percent of you guys are going to parrot corporate or be fired.

As of January 2024, approximately 77.6% of U.S. physicians are employed by hospitals or other corporate entities, with over 44,000 practices acquired by these groups between 2019 and 2024. Corporate entities (including private equity firms and insurers) and hospitals have seen a massive shift in employment, with roughly 55% employed by hospitals and 22.5% by corporate entities.

We were just under 70% before covid, which is still stupid high.

Are you in the 20% or the 80%?

You mean in the 2/3rd white population city of Lexington where the the Republican mayor was elected with 63% of the vote in 2018 and then 71% of the vote in 2022?

Doesn't strike me as a city that has been successfully cramming Soros funded prosecutors into the DAs office. The city used to swing democrat but not exactly the land of woke you are acting like they are.

The mayor is a nonpartisan office. She was horrible during covid. She is a registered nurse and Lexington had restrictions as long as any blue city in the country. She is a registered republican, but won't tell you if she ever voted for Trump.

Fayette County voted for Kamala 58% to 40.

Fayette and Jefferson are why red state Kentucky has Beshear.
