I will give Pete credit for righting the ship and not letting the outside noise distract that locker room but let’s not act like he built that team and got them there.
He built the defense. Built the defense that led the nation in scoring defense in 24. The O line coach who built the O line is still there. The offensive coach that handled the day to day on the offensive side is still there. The OC is from the Briles/Kiffin Tree and was sought after by multiple SEC programs. He was here for 2 years when the foundation was being built. A lot of the program is still in tact. A lot of what made Lane great here was the system around him by the university and staff. That almost completely is still in place.
Yall read Pete but think it is Luke and it is absolutely not anywhere close to the same thing.

No I'm all for the MS 3 grade reading gate where you must have a base reading level to move on the 4th grade regardless of anything else. My issue is with high school age standardized test.

Age test. To see how your kid, and your classroom, and your school, and your district are measuring up compared to each other, and across the state, and across the country.
Which the ACT is perfect for. It is already used for that exact purpose.

I never had a teacher preparing us for testing. They taught the material. You learned it or you didn't. If the teacher was really good then the side effect was you doing better on the test.
The important thing was putting the best teachers in the best classes. My HS G.T. teachers were the most knowledgeable and the fastest at covering material because all of their students were very high I.Q. Putting that teacher in charge of dumb arse kids would have been a waste. Kids are not equal. You cannot make them equal. But the colleges keep trying.
How is life over 40?
Everything changed with NCLB.

Because some people pay thousands of dollars for private tutoring for the ACT so it skews the results.
That is completely irrelevant. It is a content knowledge measure. Teachers would become the tutors.
Do MLB scouts care if you got outside help besides your HS coach when they are scouting for the draft?

He hires good people and lets them do their job? Any evidence of that yet? He’s been a head coach for 4 months.
I would slow down on the Elko comparisons. Pete would be very lucky to have half the success Elko has had so far
You have already made up your mind 4 months in that he is a drunk and an idiot when he has 2 playoff wins as HC. Your HC had to be put in rehab for coke but you seem to not care about that.
I'd bet a lot that you have a DUI on your record as well. Pete is a south Louisiana boy like a ton of people on this site.

I appreciate this sentiment but none of that should apply to reading, writing, and arithmetic.
Social Studies and History shouldn't be on standardized tests.
We need to clarify here. Are we talking elementary school age test or high school graduation requirement level test. 2 separate issues.

It being standardized helps to judge the results when you can control for other factors.
Why not just use the ACT? Set a required score to graduate. Why do we need standardized test before that? The high school test are basically fail proof anyway if you have home support.

Standardized Test create a whole school year pointed towards teaching to the test. It is one of the thousands of things in education that sound good in theory but don't work in practicality.
Take for example a World History Class. It is now taught in well defined units of chopped up memorizeable factoids. I called this trying to catch water with a net. You are missing 90% of it. There is so much context and flow missing that you aren't getting the whole picture. It is like this in every subject.
Students want to take you somewhere that they are interested in? Can't do that. Have to still to the standards because they are on the test. And the test is all that matters to schools and school systems.

JDB is a young up and coming OC from the Briles/Kiffin Tree. Was sought after by multiple SEC schools this year.
QB coach- Jo Judge who is essentially the HC for the offense. NFL head coach experience. Excellent partner to JDB.
Frank Wilson is as good as it gets recruiting.
Garrison has put together 2 really good offensive lines in this era of football. He is really good there.
Joyner has been a rock start recruiting and developing DL since he has been at Ole Miss.
Some new guys in position coaches on defense that the jury is still out on but I'm excited about the offense and trust Pete on the defensive side.

Why didn’t a sun belt school come knocking Pete Goldings doors down then if he’s so much better?
#1 you make more money as a SEC coordinator than you do as G5 HC. Kane Wommack made the jump. It is easier to get an SEC job as a SEC coordinator than G5 coach. Too much variance in the portal and rosters in G5 to stay consistent right now.
Pete has a ring as a coordinator. Many years under Saban. Has been HC of the defense the last couple of years. He is a football guy not a character much like Elko. Hires good people and lets do them their job.
Luke should never have been hired. Our idiot AD who continues to fail upwards allowed the Oxford power brokers talk him into Luke because they wanted access and Luke would give them that. Luke was in over his head from the start. He also made deals with the 2 coordinators that he would keep them if they stayed for the interim year and they were both not good.
This is an apples or race cars comparison.

He really is looking bad. Either he's fallen off the wagon, again, or he's upped his usage of the nose candy.
Everyone with a brain knows that he won't be able to handle a high stress job. Ole Miss gave him everything and a long leash because he built it from scratch. LSU will turn on you at the drop of a hat. I'm waiting for the media to turn on him. It is going to be great.
Pete has been surprisingly good so far. Gets an A+ for having the team ready in the playoffs. Staff seems to be elite. If JDB is competent as OC the roster is going to be more balanced and the defense will be above average to great every year. We are Ole Miss. If we make the playoffs 1 out of every 3 years and just miss 1 of the other 2 I believe Ole Miss fans will be more than happy.

Lane gets salty AF. Yall will learn. This was 100% aimed at TC. Tweeting last week about fighting Ole Miss fans. A couple of other things in the last month. Lane is the one who is obsessed. But it is Lane. The train wreck is coming. I'm absolutely here for it.
And yes it happened in 2022. It happened in 2024. 40 Million dollar roster!!!!! and those finishes get him fired.

t's not public funds in reality. LSU earned that money thru ticket sales and tv contracts, donations, etc. Taxpayers did not pay for any of their earnings. Why should the public care what % of those earnings go to the QB?
It isn't but when you have buyouts for coaches that should be coming out of the fund but instead the state is paying part of that buyout so salary can be met every month then that is an issue citizens should be aware of.

I've seen more seasons than you have been alive little one. Relax. You will soon learn about the roller coaster than is Lane.
