You think 7 out of the top 25 proves success? Or what about 4 out of the top 25 the year before?
You said if it didnt work out this year you dont know if he will get a chance to fix it. Please tell me what you meant by that then. What would be fixing it in your mind because he can only go to the 3rd round of the playoffs or Natty to improve on this year.

Yeah man. How about you go look at ON3's team rankings for the portal the last two years and tell me how it worked out for those teams that were ranked higher than Alabama. Auburn and LSU both were in the top 10 last year and were terrible. Ole Miss got lucky that Chambliss caught fire and they hit on Lacy and they still only made it 1 round further than Alabama, but yet Deboer is going to be fired if he doesnt win a Natty this year?
Edited to add this- This staff has stated repeatedly they value transformation over transactions... Alabama is not going to spend on the open market like other teams because the vast majority of the time it doesnt workout and they dont have the money. Great HS recruiting is the only way Alabama stays at the level they are at and you just hope you are able to keep the main core pieces of the team. This staff has recruited top 5 in that area and hopefully they can get enough pieces to fill in around that core. They have also not lost one truly difference maker off last years team.

I also don’t think Smith or Russaw are any where close to irreplaceable. If anything we may have got better because James Smith killed us multiple times with dumbass penalties on 3rd down when we had a stop. He single handily kept FSU’s first drive going. That game could have went so differently if we get a stop and score after their first drive and go up 14-0.
Pierre is the only DL that would sting because he brings a skill set that no one else has shown.

Lance Heard reportedly got $3MM to go to Kentucky... he had a worse pass blocking grade the Formby on PFF. Formby got $1.7MM from A&M. These numbers are absolute insanity for very average OL. Peak has a 83% pass blocking grade from PFF vs Formby's 80%... if Heard got $3MM Peak had to be in the $4MM range and Alabama just doesn't have the money to blow $4MM on one guy.

The conversation no one seems to want to address concerning the OL is that our RB's the last few years haven't helped them one bit, especially last year. Every single team in the playoff besides us and Oklahoma had RB's running through tackles constantly or making guys miss. Fletcher from Miami probably broke more tackles in the last two games than our RB's did all year. Hill was the only guy last year that could run through an arm tackle. It's a massive problem with talent when your RB is brought down by one guy the vast majority of the time.

Someone needs to get on the BOL or On3 guys to explain this. It makes no sense, but I also wonder what Alabama or the SEC have guys sign NIL wise. Damon Wilson left UGA last year after signing as well, so the SEC may be behind the times with the contracts. I know the BIG 10 has a pretty ironclad contract from the Demond Williams stuff.

Because the majority of this board actively shits on the guy non stop when in year two of following the goat he led us to the 2nd round of the playoffs. I think he and the staff deserve criticism but a bunch of posters just completely ignore the facts that point to him doing a pretty good job with the hand he was dealt here and just choose to shite on him.

I've just always thought he's one of the best in game coaches with adjustments when things arent going well. He's not immune to the portal though, they are about to lose their starting RB to Ohio State.

Yep. Thats what quite a few on this board deserves. They think Alabama was stacked with talent like it was 2020 again when Saban left. They dont listen to facts about how 70 plus guys have left Alabama since Saban and about 5 of them have actually had a real impact other places. They think we should get the top tranfer talent in the country because of our "prestige" and facilities and just completely ignore the reality of our money situation compared to a lot of these other schools. A lot of these posters bitching like that are very similar to Roll Tide Willie to be honest though.

Come on man. These two guys have more money than almost anyone in the country for NIL and Cristobal lost to SMU & Louisville, and Lanning got blown out just like Alabama did with a much better roster than Alabama! Kirby Smart and Cignetti are the only two coaches heads and shoulders above the rest of the country currently. Neither of those guys are coming here, and there isnt another coach in the country that doesnt have a few shitty loses and blowouts on their resume to put them above CKD.

I think players are fair game for criticism about their play on the field since they are getting paid. I just also think fans who don’t donate but bitch and moan about losing players to the portal or not getting the top portal guys are dumb. The teams competing at a high level are spending well outside the rev share numbers and that money has to come from somewhere and someone.
