The Cornhuskers were very good for about 25 years. Those 1970s and 1980s Nebraska teams were brutal. Like playing Ohio State or Georgia today. Not kidding.

I met McCollister once and he is a cliche. He's always had money, lives very well, makes every effort to pretend supporting the community while living a arrogant lifestyle none of us could comprehend. Believe me, he sees us all as peasants.

Yes. Men dressed in jackets and ties. Women wore dresses. That included students. This was COMMON until about the 1975.

You're correct. The USFL teams of the 1980s tried a "Territorial Draft" of local players. In some instances, it worked. Overall, it didn't help much to appeal to fans.
