Live Crawfish in Shreveport

Posted by vandal on 4/1/18 at 10:46 pm
Anyone know some good places to buy live crawfish in Shreveport? I was going to try Caddo Crawfish after reading about them last season but their facebook page indicates they are trying to recover from recent flooding and aren't selling. Thanks!

I haven't seen enough French films either, but many people have mentioned Cache and that is a very good film.

Someone has also mentioned Jean-Pierre Melville's work. I am slowly working my way through his films and Le Samourai is great. It's a film noir with an incredible style and atmosphere.

However, Melville's film Army of Shadows (L'armee des Ombres) about the French underground resistance during German occupation is incredible. One of the best films I've seen in years and has become one of my favorite movies of all time. I haven't seen many French movies but if I had to recommend one, it would be this. A must see.

Devil's Backbone: A ghost story set in an orphanage. It's in spanish and directed by Guillermo Del Toro.

Audition: Japanese thriller/horror. Really creepy.

Quarantine: Zombie flick filmed in pseudo-documentary style. I thought it was pretty good, it's a remake of the recent Italian flick REC.

Alien is great, if by chance you haven't seen it. The Thing is also good.

I second Rosemary's Baby, the Exorcist, and the Shining, all classics.

The Original Night of the Living Dead is excellent.

I second Invasion of the Body Snatchers

The Brood by David Cronenberg is a rather creepy horror.

As far as appetizers go, I really loved the baked oysters. The sauce is great, very tasty. Also enjoyed the gator appetizer. Didn't stay for dinner, so can't comment on that.
You should go to Stanley in the quarter for an affordable brunch/lunch but delicious food. It's right in Jackson Square, one of the nicest little spots to eat. Then you can walk around the quarter. Stanley is owned and operated by Scott Boswell, the same chef who runs Stella. You can't go wrong with this one. The Reuben is especially good, as is the oyster poboy. Everything there is pretty top notch.

Yo Mama's in the quarter also has pretty tasty burgers. Better than long overhyped Port of Call (but if you want, you could also go to Port of Call, it's not bad, it's just not as good as they say).

Mother's is a solid choice for lunch. Just stick to some of the more popular items as some of the lesser items can be very mediocre. Just get the poboy with the ham and beef or whatever with the debris on it. Or a fried seafood poboy.

Cochon is also a pretty nice place, maybe just a tad above your dinner budget, but perhaps worth it. The baked oysters are great. Also close to the quarter.

Even though it's a crime to say I haven't eaten there, I'd have to second Central grocery just out of all I've heard. I'm just not that big a muffalatta fan.

I'd have more suggestions but i have to go. You really should pencil in Stanley, it's a no brainer for your budget and your location.

But if you want my honest opinion, you should go all out and hit Stella, and then eat Wendy's $.99 menu the rest of the time. That's just me. Stella is amazing.

Go to Cambridge around Harvard and eat at Mr.&Mrs. Bartley's Gourmet Hamburgers (Bartley's Burgers). It's been a few yrs since I've had those burgers but I remember them being absolutely delicious and it's a pretty well known spot for great burgers.

Yup, 2nd Term Med at SGU. Can you hook me up with this guy's number who delivers? I assume you have to buy in bulk, how much do you have to buy at once?

I'm surprised to see that nobody mentioned the baked oysters which are a terrific appetizer at Cochon. You gotta get those along with the gator.

Yo man, I'm in Grenada too. Besides the fresh fish market in St.George's wheres a more accessible place to buy good local fish? IGA sucks and I don't have a car so something near the bus route would be great.
