Yeah, that was the first thing I could find. I had heard the rumor but never traced it back to the source so who knows if it was every reported by a reputable source

Van Buren was fighting an uphill battle to be productive in this offense, and I think based on what he put on film he has the ability to be a solid starting quarterback given the time to develop. Unfortunately we don't have that time, and to go into 2026 with him as the starter would be a tremendous error in judgement.
