Poor Leah is beside herself at the moment
This is not what her family ever envisioned their restaurant would become.
She was so nice to me when I was one of their regulars years ago.
R.I.P. Leah. I miss you!

re: When you were growing up how did your family refer to meals.

Parents were from Yankees from New Hampshire so it was
Breakfast
Lunch
Supper / Dinner
Mom was the cook and Yankee food wasn't quite as delicious as South Louisiana cooking but every meal was huge and very nutritious so there's that.
Thank you Mom!

Insurance companies were not doing this at all
People who did this, did it on their own. Insurance companies are not pushing medications that are not the FDA approved version.
During covid these versions of the semaglutides were FDA approved and yes all health insurance companies took advantage of this opportunity to reduce prescription drug costs for the members of their HMO's or for their health insurance policy owners. I have clients all over the U.S. and the prices of the GLP-1's is a big issue and something that we monitor constantly. Unfortunately, the prices of the branded GLP-1/Semaglutides have increased since March.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) insures over 8 million members and I doubt any of them will pay $3,900.00 or Zepbound.
Will the drug makers start adjusting their prices if demand falls off a cliff.
I would assume if BC/BS did this that most other major carriers are doing the same.
Since March of 2025 all the insurance companies can legally do is cover the patented semaglutides which is why the cost and co-pays through insurance companies has increased tremendously.

36 year as health insurance broker so let me explain what's going on.
Semaglutides aka GLP-1's are nothing new. They're not a brand name drug or under any patent and they're dirt cheap.
The companies that market Ozempic, Mounjaro, Zepbound etc.. simply patented a very specific and irrelevant dosage and more importantly a delivery system in the form of a convenient injection pen similar to the insulin injection pens used by diabetics. The FDA allowed a very inexpensive drug to become a very expensive drug due to the convenient pre loaded injection pen instead of using a normal syringe,
During Covid the supply could not keep up with the demand so the federal government allowed compounding pharmacies to produce the semaglutides. The cost was only around 15- 20 bucks a month. Major insurers like Blue Cross simply purchased from the compounding pharmacies and that's why your Ozempic, Zepbounds, Mounjaros, etc were a 10.00 a month co-pay. This is also why there were so many Ozempic parties where you could get a $2 shot of Tequila and a $5 shot of Ozempic. This all came to an end in March of 2025 when the supply finally met up with demand and the FDA changed their ruling. Now, the official "Ozempics", "Zepbounds" "Mounjaros" etc are ridiculously expensive but you can simply go to compounding pharmacies and purchase the same drug with a standard injection syringe for a fraction of the price. Also, TrumpRX is about to go online where if you are Medicare A & B eligible you will be able to receive the Semaglutides based on BMI and not only a diagnosis of diabetes or pre-diabetes. There are solutions to high prescription medication costs but the solution requires a little research.

Just imagine if everyone rounded up all their penny jars and turned them in to their bank.
I've been throwing pennies in various large containers around the house for 40 years. I'm certain I have 20,000.
This country wouldn't run out of pennies for a 100 years.

Put Velcro on the ceiling.
Not racist at all. "Racist" is a personal interpretation. It's a personal choice to label something "Racists" and I find life is easier when you stop labeling everything.
Funny is just funny and certainly not racist.
"How do you stop little black kids from running around?"

Not a "Dad" joke but my Dad's fav "Aggie" joke.
Aggie walks into a drug store and buys a pack of condoms.
The cashier says that'll be 2.75 plus tax.
Aggie says "tacks"? "oh shite" " I thought you just rolled them on"

I don't know what they were laced with but I've been tripping all day.

Thai food!
Traditionally gluten and dairy free and absolutely phuckin' delicious.
Easy to eat healthy without sacrificing flavor.

My favorite are vehicles with snorkels. When we get street flooding in Houston 8” to 10” deep it is hilarious to watch people with snorkels hug the lane on the inside where the water is 2” deep. Or better yet… wait for an opening so they can avoid standing water puddles.
I drive a 5th gen 4Runner Off Road.
It's a custom overland build and it has a snorkel.
Like most people you don't understand the purpose of a snorkel.
It's a sealed intake that brings clean cold air to the engine. It reduces the hot dirty dusty air that enters the engine when running down dirt trails. Yes, in high water it helps keep the splashing water out of your air intake but it doesn't turn your vehicle into a submarine.
On a plus side I have discovered that chicks really dig snorkels.

We're fans of the characters they bring to life.
I choose to remember
Ty Webb
Clark Griswold
Irwin Fletcher
Detective Tony Carlson
Dusty Bottoms
Andy Farmer
Emmett Fitz-Hume
Max Fielder
Feel free to add to the list.

In my previous post regarding your sons potential federal premium subsidy of 486 per month I failed to mention that with an annual income of 16,000 he will also qualify for a 94% CSR aka Cost Sharing Reduction. This means that 94% of the policies out of pocket costs (deductibles, Co-Insurance, Co-Pays etc.) will be reduced leaving you with a only few hundred in potential annual out of pocket costs.
With a subsidy you would only have a 48.00 per month premium and basically nothing out of pocket considering plans today average 8500.00 annual out of pocket costs.
Keep in mind though that for him to qualify for a premium subsidy you can't claim him as dependent anymore at tax time. I'm assuming that if you're paying the health insurance for a 21 year old he must be a student.

In MS if your son has an AGI of 16,000 he qualifies for a federal premium subsidy of 486 per month.
I just ran a BCBS of LA quote for a 21 year old.
An HMO is 396 to 605 per month.
A real Health Insurance policy is 543 to 827.
