Haha maybe that's the trade off. I love duck hunting and turkey hunting more than anything - can not stand watching it on TV. Find it completely boring.
Then bass fishing of all things I am glued to the screen.

I hate watching TV and I do not enjoy bass fishing (just isn't my thing).
However, the one thing that I will watch religiously is MLF like a 2 year old watching Ms. Rachel.
Not sure why, but it is thoroughly entertaining and makes good background noise when working in shop/patio.
Guntersville is always a good one to watch.

Thanks everyone. Looks like I should should start calling it by its proper name and that would solve finding seedlings.
Most places are sold out, but found a few that have them in stock as well as called NRCS.

Buck Brush Seedlings

Has anyone had any luck finding buck brush seedlings for sale anywhere? (Not exactly sure what the plant is called - but we have always called it "buck brush")
Wanting to plant them in a break behind our house to the enhance existing duck roost, but cant seem to find any seedings etc.
Anyone purchased any? or any experience graphing existing plants from the river/swamp?
ETA: not sure the technical name of the plant - just that we call it "buck brush"

I agree regarding wanting it bad enough you'll make it happen.
On other hand, i guess i am a bellyacher as I 100% believe that woodsmanship has completely deteriorated and left the picture (at least related to duck hunting and turkey hunting). Don't get me wrong there have always been those without it, but in todays world there seems to be very very little of it.
When I deer hunt, I hunt nearly 100% public in SELA, and the etiquette/woodsmanship among deer hunters where I hunt is fantastic as I am surrounded by "old men" who have hunted the property since long before it was even a federal area and simply respect each other.
Congrats to ya buddy on the deer. There are still plenty of deer to be killed on Louisiana public.

Not sure about your state- but most states (including Louisiana) have Recreational Use Immunity for landowners to encourage landowners to let others use their property for recreational purposes, including hunting.
Might me something worth looking into in your state - that is, if you're truly willing to allow a door knocker access.
Also something to keep in your back pocket if you're ever the one door knocking.

I am likely in the same camp as your kid. We grew up hearing stories about how great hunting once was, with the hope that it would come back to the same, but did not. Which caused most of us to spend more time traveling to hunt - but just as mad at em. (typing this while currently heading home from hunting in Oklahoma).
Regarding public land, it has absolutely gotten worse everywhere. It's almost impossible to even door knock to get access to shoot woodducks or squirrels, much less to deer hunt or turkey hunt.
This in turn has forced most (especially my generation) to all hunt public lands which means more people on public which leads to more interactions with people (both good and bad, but mostly bad) which leads to my generation saying screw this and going home to deer hunt two times per year or take up golfing.
The amount of money it takes for a young adult to get into hunting and the amount of aggravation on public from the large influx of people forces most of us out. We are just priced out.
If public land rules were enforced and fellow hunters had even 50% of the common decency of the past -- public land would continue to be fine, but what is frustrating is the fact that every time i (and others i know) set up for a duck hunt and another group comes in 30 minutes before shooting light to set up on us within 80 yards and ruins it for everyone while refusing to hunt together like we used to when I was a kid (5-16yo) by my uncle.
Tl;Dr: the youth dont want out of hunting. we are pushed out by prices of private ground, inability to access property through door knocks, and the degrading of public land success due to the failure of others to have common decency/respect.

I dont think anyone has issues with LDWF being more transparent on the (or any) issue - although I think they do so at the monthly LWC meeting as well as if you contact them pretty effectively. Also, a little premature as they just put the taskforce together, which we all know the "findings" will take a while. Have you tried calling LDWF/the task force to answer any of your questions?
What I do think people have issues with is LDWF enforcing "restrictions" that will "hopefully" help and/or "investigating" hunting clubs just on a whim with no belief or knowledge of alleged violations. (AKA coming in on a whim).
I think we can all agree we don't want the local police departments (law enforcement) digging through our houses (private hunting property) just to "look around."

I would imagine that is already being investigated - per the CWD taskforce or whatever the LWC named it.
Your post was vague as to "investigate," which is why i asked the question. I agree the CWD issue needs to be figured out - if it truly was brought in.

Why are you worried about "investigating" properties that you do not hunt, is not a public access area, and generally have more LDWF presence than any other properties in the state?
LDWF agents are on those properties constantly due to trespassing etc and also constantly monitoring those properties due to the CWD zone.
What exactly do you want them to "investigate?"

100%. Get you a 22-24ft bay boat with a reliable 4 stroke. No need for anything crazy to start. A bay boat allows you to fish - while also doing tubing, skiing, etc and gives room for women to lay on front deck and tan etc.
I've seen too many ppl buy pleasure cruisers bc its "more comfortable" with wife - then it turns out the wife is never on the boat except going to and from the sandbar/restaurant etc where she immediately jumps in water and goes to beach.
IMO a 22-24ft bay boat is your most versatile boat.

Before they closed hwy 90, Waveland was the best of all worlds - we could go fish/hunt and the women could either go to BSL or Slidell to shop etc. Now they just have to go to BSL, which of course is more expensive when the cc statement hits, as they always end up at the Hen House buying $20 drinks.
Really depends on what you're looking for. If you want to retire, drive golfcart around and be somewhat like 30A, then BSL proper is your bet.
Regardless, just get you a 24ft bay boat with 80 gallon fuel capacity and you can fish all of the places listed above regardless where you are

Really depends what "Bay St. Louis Area" means to you.
If youre wanting Bay St. Louis proper - the fishing is not the best in the world. Better in winter. can catch fish during summer in bay - but generally have to run to islands or isle pitre area.
If you're fine with more outskirts, the Ansley/Waveland area has better fishing IMO. Freshwater and Salt on edge of East Pearl. can run across lake and fish 9mile and 3 mile area - as well as run to islands to fish.
We have a camp in Waveland at LaFrance Marina, which as been in our family since the 70/80s. we love it. Can be in BSL in 20 minutes but also have access to duck hunting etc in the winter.
I agree with above - if you're looking for a "fishing camp" go south (Venice, Port Sulphur, Delacroix, PAL, etc).
If you are wanting an all around camp that is close to entertainment, still offers decent fishing at times, and good duck hunting at times--then MS coast can be an option

It's a good time - Mike & the crew run a great place. I have been a few times and will continue to go.
Of course there is a difference between wild quail and pen raised quail. However, there also a big difference between wild influence pen quail and the meet quail you local red-neck owns for meat/eggs.
The ones that La Bully have always seem to flush great and watching the dogs work is worth the whole visit.
For those that want "true quail" the only way that's happening is if you got to Mexico and S Texas.
Also did the Pheasant Tower Shoot last month and had a great time.

Camp ground on SE is tricky to get to if you dont know how to to run Pass a Loutre - lot of sandbars, but allows you to be close to the NWR if you want to hunt the Fed land as well.
On flip side - I hunted SE pass this weekend and it was empty skies. Ducks for some reason are stacking up on Baptiste (n. side) and the sanctuary (where they always are). However, the birds are not coming off sanctuary until just before dark headed north to feed.
Plenty of teal along S pass, if you want to have a good teal shoot just find a 2-4 acre pond and pirogue in. However, big ducks down river right now are not as present as normal.
Best campground is the main one-off South Pass (be careful pulling in as there is a mud flat to the north and south of the entrance. Go almost straight perpendicular if you turn in there.
If you try to go to the Freshwater Impound Campground, depending on your route, there is a large underwater rock dam that you need to watch for. It is located at the spoil canal when you turn off south pass going to the Freshwater Impound Campground.
If you want to go to the Freshwater Impound campground--i would recommend taking Dennis to it.
