The British equivalent of the Weekly World News
Anyone complaining about the race stuff doesn't know the backstory within IT, already mentioned. It was one of the more interesting parts of the book IMO

This isn’t just a problem for a team trying to hire Kiffin. It’s every single head coach in a conference championship game

I think Kiffin, for some reason, is the domino that will get things moving. Kiffin is smart enough to know know that the longer he waits, the later it will be- for the other programs that didn't get him- in terms of recruiting.

So his best move will be to wait as long as possible especially if he is staying at Ol' Miss because he can still lock in his recruits.
After the OU game you will be worried about the Auburn game.
What people forget is that, at some point Saban was going back to the NFL. It may have been after the 2007, 2008, or 2009 season if he stayed at LSU, but Saban always wanted back in the NFL at that time.
IF LSU could cough up $100 million they could get Lanning from Oregon. Neuheisel is a joke

You’re talking Oregon, OreSt, I think Arizona was ranked a couple years back, I think WasSt was too. Point being, not like he was playing world beaters when in the PAC

Might want to go back and check who's actually been on Vandy's or UT's schedule
Historically a .500 winning percentage is considered exceptional

Jo Paterno .521 against 500 or better opponents @ PSU

Bobby Bowden .541 against .500 or better opponents @ FSU

Tom Osborne . 607 against .500 or better opponents @ Nebraska

Saban at .694 is the highest of all time ( with more than 100 games)
LSU. This way they all take care of each other's buyouts.
Different refs. The 9-6 refs handed LSU the game on a silver platter

I think most intelligent fans fall into this group

It looks like this group has the most members. However, I cannot say if they have the most pull. There are also people trying to assert themselves into the decision making process at every level

In Hell

That's a little harsh isn't it.
Nebraska's problem wasn't not being happy with Callahan who couldn't win any big games- thanks to the Big XII refs (see 2009 Big XII championship game). It was replacing him with the Oregon State coach who would have been a good fit 10 years earlier. But by 2014 Riley was on his last legs and had basically gotten tired of recruiting.

but I’m shocked at how upset this has made the Bama fans.

I haven't seen a single shocked Bama fan. Almost all the interest comes from the fact that LSU is next on the schedule.

That's not going to be the only tie-in to the greater Stephen king Universe. There will be a Pet Cemetery reference coming up.

I have a feeling boosters w money will want a say and it will turn into a disaster

This is what will likely happen. You have one side that thinks LSU can get by with a "reset" that will undo the damage of the BK era. The other side is afraid LSU is one the edge and a bad hire can set the program back a decade.
REC is panicking and gave A&M an tough schedule for next year to try and keep Bama propped up.

I guess this clown hasn't seen Bama's schedule next year. While you chillout out with Mizzou Bama gets Georgia again.

The Washington Trio

I would like to really thank Germie Bernard, Josh Cuevas, and Parker Brailsford for their outstanding level of effort and play this year. They transferred from UW and have done more than merely contribute.

Germie Bernard is my favorite player on the team. Sorry Ty. He has made big play after big play and can be counted on when Bama has its back to the wall.

I've tried to count all the clutch catches Cuevas has made this season. It's seems like every time Bama needs one he makes it.

Parker Brailsford is our most technically proficient OL. I know Proctor has more talent but Brailsford does his job time after time. I've never seen a play where he whiffed or made a mental error.

Without the solid play of these three, Bama could easily have had another loss and we would be sitting here now wondering how Bama could win out, and what our playoff chances would be. I will miss all of them when their Bama careers are over.

Fletcher Mackel reporting that a single donor will provide the majority of the buyout…

This is what I heard. However, this is a far as this big donor is willing to go. It will be up to the pool of donors to fork over the rest of the money to get the hire they want.

I doubt very many in demand NFL coaches would want to go to a college program

I agree with you and what you say. However there is a logjam for NFL head coach candidates. I think some assistants can be plucked for the right amount of money. The biggest problem is that LSU is unlikely to get and major college coach,

I don't think Russaw has been cleared. He had to finish up a rehab stint after his surgery. I don't think he will start practicing until next week.
Some want a young (40ish) coach who can relate to and handle players and navigate the NIL/Transfer portal environment. They would also like a person with LSU ties who will prioritize in state talent.

Others want a person with a NFL background who can come in with a staff that is familiar with the NFL type model that college football is sliding towards. They also want someone who can set high standards and help players to reach them.

The problem is while one group has a pretty good chunk of change between them they are not happy at the thought of having for fork over more than $125 million to make things happen. They want the other group, which has more members, to pony up the money.

As far as I can tell, this eliminates Kiffen who apparently is only interested in staying put or going to UF
Mascona and most of the local "media" were enjoying inside access either through Kelly or someone close to him. This included NIL info, player starts and assignment and info on assistant coaches.
That was one of the biggest questions people had with CBK. You really only had to coach up or out scheme 3 or 4 teams a year on Notre Dame's schedule. You have double-digit teams to worry about in the SEC. Plus all the other demands off the field. That's why TPTB want someone with an NFL pedigree. But the two guys they could try and get have their teams headed to the playoffs and would be available until after the NFL season ends.

I think more better qualified candidates will be available after the 2026 season. I'm afraid LSU fans will just have to bite the bullet until then.

I hate to say it but amateurism is dead and money drives everything. Gone are the days when you could root for Ol' State U and be proud of the actions of 18-21 year olds who were playing for just the sake of the game.
Freeze will be gone if they lose every game up to and including Vandy. An interim coach will be coaching the Iron Bowl for the Barn.

Grubb's offensive play calling was so so

Grubb had some nice stuff dialed up early in the game but the execution was a little off. I'm not sure what happened during halftime but it seemed like Grubb was more interested in shortening the game than going after UT's D.

quote:

Ty played pretty well

Ty came out too amped in the 1st quarter. He overthrew 1 WR and if he had hit Williams in stride instead of making him leap for it he would have had a TD. I'm still shaking my head at that bonehead throw to Cuevas and the goal line. He was lucky to get away with that one. I will chalk it up to having his family in the stands and trying to impress everyone.

quote:

Defense played fairly well

They did. But I am tired on the lack on effort and the refusal to make contact by some players, especially our MLB who is the team captain and should be leading by example. Instead he overruns plays constantly and whiffs on tackles. I wonder what the game would have been like if Heupel had started the game like he did the 3rd quarter. Good seeing more of the young DBs and less of DJ who is playing himself into a 3rd day selection.

Sean McDonough SUCKS

I guess by know everyone knows McDonough called an clean game. McElroy got caught frontrunning a couple of times assuming Bama a made a penalty when the call was on UT. Hopefully that will straighten him out

quote:

We have a glaring weakness with our running game. Is it scheme? Rbs? Oline? Or a combination of all of it?

We haven't had an OL who could win a 1 on 1 battle in the run game every down since Cam Robinson. Evan Neal was good but not an every down winner. And as athletic as Proctor is he is simply not a drive blocking brute at his position because his future in the NFL does not demand it.

The last few years we have not really gone out and got the mauler at the Guard spot especially. Instead we really just have a C and 4 tackles pretty much.

I know we prioritized Jam Miller over Justice Haynes because of Jam's pass blocking and receiving skills. But Haynes "one cut & go style" is what we need. It looks like Bama has a stable of guys who try to take the ball and wedge it in whatever hole is there even when there isn't one.

I'm not sure what the solution is. The fact that our RBs aren't feared allows teams to keep 2 safeties deep and really hurt us on deep throws.
