While their voting base is a concern, we could industrialize Alberta in a way Canada never has. We can do the same in Siberia & Kamchatka too, albeit not through territory gain, but economic investment.
Cuba is an interesting case. I’m sure we could overwhelm their populace with the wonders of a capitalistic society. They had a taste of it in the 60s and 70s, but it’s all been downhill thereafter, no doubt due to their re-alignment with communism/socialism.
For the sake of debate - no. Global warming is a sham, perpetrated by energy companies, even those who are hurt by the sham. A dollar spent today can be three dollars spent tomorrow, as how many government regulated industries and companies operate these days.

I mean hey, if that’s what you believe, I don’t disagree. Maybe he is. But my experience in the industry tells me otherwise. To each their own.
That is what they want you to believe. These guys stack money hand over fist and while they can be greedy, they know their products have enough overlap to destroy one another. It’s technology’s version of M.A.D. Hence my analogy to Apple, Microsoft and Linux. They all serve a purpose, but anyone one of them can serve any purpose. They’ve come to backroom agreements to divide and conquer the market. AI isn’t any different to any other product, consumed by the masses or consumed by the government.
Another analogy - Raytheon, Lockheed, Northrop - all can achieve the same thing, but they also don’t seem to want to. There is no explanation other than controlled diversification within the same market. They make enough money, hand over fist, to justify it.

A lot of these “gurus” are sales people and influencers at the end of the day. They probably havent been in the trenches in awhile, if ever.

Get back to Civ 4 and check out the Rise of Mankind: New Dawn mod. It’s a whole new Civ dropped on top of Civ 4. New leaders/civs, techs, policies, units, buildings, war and city mgmt mechanics.
It also extends the early game so ancient-late classical era is not a handful of turns relative to the rest of the game. It forces you to compete in the early game rather than an autopilot/scripted opening. Late game has more modern techs that have either become reality, potential reality and new future theoretical science. Everything in between is just better. I loved it, unfortunately I switched to a Mac last year and I can’t play it anymore without buying a VM
