Thank you for your service. And I agree with you. Republicans are either in denial or lacking in principle. Trump 2.0 has advanced socialism (state/private partnerships through coercion & force), imperialism, secret police that is scooping up US citizens and economic instability. This isn’t freedom and small government.

This shite has a good chance to backfire if we overplay our hand. Doesn’t mean we’ll lose a world war (at least at first), but the outcomes don’t justify the risk.

My takeaway from actually watching the video. She was trying to leave, panicked, didn’t impact the leo while driving away and was shot several times in the face. After that, she lost control of her vehicle and crashed into a pole.
Looks quite different from the DHS statement. Pretty fricked up. And the reaction here is disappointing.

After Iraq, many are reasonably worried about grander plans to nation build. Venezuela has a population of nearly 30 million people, many with scores to settle. Any external control would be costly and dangerous.
Also the comments from President Trump about needing Greenland, threatening other nations in our hemisphere, neighbors etc are a potential major escalation point in geopolitics and stability.
We have many more problems to solve domestically and this just feels like a boondoggle.

As someone that was old enough to vote during our country’s misguided excursion into Iraq 2.0, the recent moves by the admin feel like pretext to another war. A very stupid one at that. Fentanyl isn’t produced at large in Venezuela. There is no “yellow cake” this time neither.

It’s unfettered access to media that likely makes you think this way. Be wary of information you consume since it’s one of the safest times to be living right now in the US.
Very few serial killers since technology (surveillance and genetic) have put them out of business. Gun crime will always be high here given gun rights, but murder is declining on balance.

Beautiful movie that has stuck with me.
William H Macy delivered some poignant moments in his brief on screen time, and Joel was brilliant in that pondering and stoic character.
As a middle aged normal guy with young children and wife, woo boy does it hit close to home. Feels like a needed rewatch to pick up all the nuance and themes.
