I think Anthropic is doing us all a solid. We don’t want a surveillance state. Almost nothing good comes from that route. Hell almost every dystopian fiction is predicated on this type of technology getting into the wrong hands.

A majority of the political board thinks The Lorax is a romance novel. There’s nothing sacred to them.

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump told Christians on Friday that if they vote for him this November, "in four years, you don't have to vote again. We'll have it fixed so good, you're not gonna have to vote."
Yeah this type of move tracks. They’re gonna fix it so good, you won’t need to vote again in 2028. Hmm.

This far out, the polls are garbage.
Agree. It’s just a loosely formed popularity contest right now. Given the political dynamics right now, I think we will be surprised with two candidates on both sides that weren’t the obvious primary winners.

Seriously? Weed is legal or decriminalized everywhere now. Hasn’t ruined the state of Missouri despite the fear mongering. Colorado may have issues but i doubt legal weed is even in the top 20.

It’s so dumb that it feels like self sabotage or something. Howard Dean 2.0 moment. He was on a Sunday talk show and kept playing cagey about running and the age of his kids. Feels like he knows everyone expects him to run but his subconscious is saying no.

I do agree Shapiro is probably "too pro-America" for your average activist Democrat Primary voter.
I don’t think Shapiro has the juice. He’s got the appeal of a local rep at H&R Block. He’s a solid operator but not a top ticket guy in my estimation.
It’s so far away that it could be a dark horse candidate emerges. Someone on the periphery of the national scene that galvanizes Dems/Independents.
Heck I’m not sure if Vance will even be the guy. I think he’s smart but not likable enough to be the guy. His biggest tailwind is his fundraising capabilities.

Frankly, Colorado’s cost of living is out of balance with local salaries. Affordability is the biggest issue since the state doesn’t have a very large corporate presence and comp is mostly on par with your average Midwest MCOL city.
Plus wildfire risk and subsequent home insurance is also a problem in many areas. Still a tremendously beautiful state except for the 1/3 easternmost portion.
I’m sure Boulder and the like are kooky with Byzantine city ordinances, etc but it’s a large state and still in demand. I think it’s just cooled off after a boom in the 2010s.

Tariffs don’t automatically strengthen a currency, and markets care about growth. It takes time to correct decades of trade imbalances.
Fair enough. It is correct to assume your point of currency manipulation is aimed primarily at China? I’m classically liberal (dirty word around here) and agree with targeted tariffs against China in situations where their government subsidies costs to crush our steel industry, etc.
This latest global tariff doesn’t accomplish much though since it’s less scalpel and more sledgehammer. US consumers will pay higher prices and given its time limited, it won’t spur investment domestically.

Actually this is another data point that the court is actually conservative and interpreting the Constitution correctly. I agree with the overall premise of OP on this one.

and currency manipulation,
The US Dollar had one of its worst performances ever in 2025. How does that square with the tariff policy? It’s not like the Fed eased much during that time frame (only 75 bps).
Plus our trade deficit only narrowed slightly and the US equities market underperformed global markets the most since 1994.
If this policy was working as well as they say, we would see more strength in the broader economy and outperform globally.

Agree. It’s one of the dumbest ideas professed by people that don’t understand finance but it sounds good.
Ultimately the tax rate on LT capital gains for those whose wealth is stratospheric needs to go up.
23.8% is too low for the billionaire crowd. Should match the top bracket for ordinary income in my opinion; otherwise you’re giving preferential treatment to those that own massive amounts of assets.
Wealth gap will continue to worsen vs the average person until this changes.

The Board of Peace — chaired by Trump, who appears to have the ultimate decision-making power — directs where the money is dispersed.

He’s chair of the board for life that he created. Who is the oversight committee for those funds? At the very least, he can appropriate funds to his business interests and friends and get kickbacks that way. If this was reversed and Biden did this, PT would collectively stroke out.
