What kind of hobbies are you thinking? How are you going to get electricity to it and are you going to cool it?

My wife does crafts, and she makes shirts for the kids' sport and school events. She also does crocheting and makes gifts for the family for Christmas and whatnot.
I plan to have a small corner learn how to reload my own ammo.

Power is simple, my dad is retired and he was an electrician. I'll work with him to get power to the shed. For cooling, I was juggling the idea of a window unit or I have one of those portable a/c units my wife used in her class when we lived in Colorado.

The intention is to have this little "workshop" for us to use instead of having all that crap in the living spaces in the house.

Again, I'm not the builder. I'd be providing the material and giving the assist. But if the pre-builts you guys are talking about have lasted it would be easier to go that route I think. I was mainly cautious about the quality of those and durability.

First thing is do you have the skills to build it. I built a big shed years ago, but I could not do it now due to my age. I would work up an estimate to compare it to a pre-built one. Factor in your time to build it. Don't forget your roof trusses.

I have a very good friend who is a carpenter and offered me his help if we build it ourselves. The frame and walls would be done in a weekend, according to him. I'd take care of everything interior

12x16 Hobby Shed

Has anybody built their own 12x16 hobby shed? Want to put one in the back yard for the wife to do her crafts. Just want something solid that has the room to work comfortably. I'd have a work bench in one corner as well.

Or would it be better to just buy a pre built one? I'm worried about the pre built's ability to withstand weather in SE Louisiana.

Do you have access to a pool? Kicking with a kickboard and swimming laps would be great for you

Unfortunately not year round. I used to swim 4 days a week and it was the best exercise, but I don't have that option year round anymore
I am getting back into exercise from an ACL replacement in November. I have a decent home gym, but obviously I'm not back to 100% at this time. Has anybody followed the Hard to Kill exercise programs? I want to drop fat while building some lean muscle. My cardio right now is walking, rowing machine, and a bike. My knee isn't ready for jogging yet. I do use a knee brace, so my lower body weight training isn't very heavy.

Any tips or recs? The goal would be to lose a significant amount of fat.....been very stagnant since the injury but getting back into it.

Long story short had a handgun stolen from my truck then subsequently recovered by BRSO ~1.5 years ago.

The detective that let me know they had found my gun told me it may be a while before I get it back; after case, appeals, etc. are all closed…

Curious if any of yall had been through this before?

Am I gonna get that gun back or does that detective have a new plinking toy and I should consider replacing it?

Had one stolen out my vehicle in Colorado. Reported it immediately and police recovered it within 15 hours in the middle of being used in a crime. I was expecting years of waiting but I got it back in 11 months. Much quicker than I expected. Was funny when I got it back they had the case number written on the slide and I debated on whether to keep it like that or not. Decided to wipe it clean and use it to this day.

Who is he? Never heard of him.

Guessing ex-military turned SJW?

Looks like he's former Army Reserve. I'd guess he's upset he didn't make the cut for SF and is salty about it. But that's just a guess :dunno:

A review of his book essentially says he has no proof - "while Harp can’t prove that members of U.S. Special Forces took advantage of their privileged status to import drugs and build a domestic cartel using the same thuggery employed during a typical day’s work in the endless War on Terror, well, think Occam's Razor"

He's reaching in the hopes of recognition.
Had to go through a re-alignment of my lower leg called a High Tibial Osteotomy (HTO). They had to open up my tibia by 12mm and slightly correct the twist after an injury.
I was under anesthesia of course, but once I woke up I was in more pain than I've ever been in, before or since.

Same here, but mine was in the Old Town Square of Poznan. Beautiful place

I'm a huge advocate for multiple safes vs one huge one and pleased to see that someone else got to that topic already.

Would multiple 24 gun safes be better? Or smaller capacity safes?

No joke, the wasted space in most them is infuriating. I'm to the point I think I'm going to just build out a room, not exactly sure what material I will be using but tired of leaving guns out during this time of year because of the pita it is to fit them in the safe only to take them out in four days.

When we build our house I'm doing this. I plan on having a reinforced room with a vault door. But that's years away so for now I just want something for the guns I have.

In reality, a 26 gun safe is more like a 13 gun safe

That's why I'm looking at the 26 gun safe. They even indicate the average would be 16-18 guns.

I hadn't looked at the Canons, just completely skipped over those for some reason.

First Gun Safe

Posted by EnragedPlatypus on 12/16/25 at 8:31 am
Hello all

I need to finally pull the trigger on a gun safe, I don't have a massive amount of guns, but I've decided to go with a 26 gun safe. I'd like to keep the budget at $1500, but I want the best options for that price.
Tractor Supply has a Remington 26 gun safe for $1199
I also saw a Steelwater Heavy Duty 26, slightly more than I wanted to spend for $1700 on GovX. Normal price is about $3500.

Is the Steelwater that much better to account for that price difference?

Also, I'm open to recs from the OB.

I'll have to look at them. I didn't look at any Otter Creek.
Thank you.

Suppressor Question

Posted by EnragedPlatypus on 11/14/25 at 1:44 pm
I've never bought a suppressor before, but previously I was on here asking about the gun trust.
I'm asking the board for advice again. Looking for a suppressor for my .308. Bergara B14, so it does not need to be full auto rated

Based off of the googles, I've narrowed down to 3 suppressors
TBAC Ultra 9
CGS Hyperion
PTR Vent 1

For those that have used any or all of them, is there a clear leader? How do these hold up compared to a DeadAir? That's another I was pushed toward.
I'll be both target shooting and hunting.

Also, any other recs on the choice?

LA Gun Trust

This is who I used years ago. Its more expensive, but it was painless. Just another option.

Is there a benefit of going with the local over the online national gun trust?

How is LA Gun Trust different from National Gun Trust?

My next will probably be a Montana knife company.

I have a couple from MKC, the Stonewall Skinner and the Stoned Goat 2.0

The knife is fantastic. I will probably be getting the Freezeout next, just something smaller.

I'd definitely recommend the knives from MKC

My FFL suggested National Gun Trusts. It's the one he uses and the process was easy. Their customer service was also prompt when I had a few questions

This is the one I keep seeing online when I was doing some research. I just didn't know if it was smarter to go to a lawyer or through these groups.

Seems to be a good resource, I'll check these out more in depth.

Thank you.
