Everyone you know or know of who is missing a limb or is way prematurely disabled or with brain trauma injuries due to IED's (I know lots! unfortunately a lot of young guys) and similar things, can thank Donald Trump and any American who supports this action today for destroying Iran's ayatollahs. If you can't, you hate America and should self-deport to North Korea tomorrow. Thank you for your attention to this matter

My first night in Baghdad a vehicle got hit by an EFP. They crew was disoriented and drove around for hours and a crew member bled out before others could get to them. There was a CSH just miles away. And you want to get on here and pretend today's events somehow matter for that guy or his family?

It's 2026, man. You want to help - put pressure on Trump and the rest of his admin to do better with the VA or to go back and invalidate ALL of the illegal discharges from when people came home with PTSD and they accused them of having pre-existing mental health conditions, essentially tortured them, then discharged them, and denied them benefits, money, healthcare, etc. That goes back over 20 years for the GWOT. Then you have all the guys purged for any random reason, even fabricated reasons, victims of misconduct by the government because they decided the GWOT was over so they were going to discharge as many as possible, on the cheap. There are career guys, injured, combat vets, that served honorably and now they have bad paper, railroaded out of the service, lives ruined, whether or not they did something. No salary, no pension, no career, no nothing, just a bad reputation for something they never did.
This sort of thing has been going on since Vietnam, see American Journal of Psychiatry, December 1972. A doctor blows the whistle on this stuff. You part-time patriots come out and thump your chests on days like this and pretend you care about people that are harmed by war and government malice. A week from now you'll be pissing in your pants drunk, wondering if Lane gets it done this year at LSU, while all of these people will still be suffering.

You are the reason this shite happens to vets. You think this kind of shite makes a difference but it does nothing but rub salt in the wound of those that are victims and it does nothing at all to compel those in power to right those wrongs and avoid repeating those injustices. Can't get medication or treatments or services at the VA or your pension is gone after going to war for your country. And you come on here like Captain America pretending to be some super patriot, even worse, pretending like the stuff done today erases the suffering that people have been enduring for 10, 15, 20 years or more. A week from now you'll drink yourself stupid and not think twice about these people, and they'll still be suffering. And nothing will ever change. The cycle will keep going, like it has since at least Vietnam, because of part-time, pretend patriots like you. You always have time to thump your chest and pretend that it matters, but you never have time to actually treat it like it matters, because at the end of the day, none of us mean anything to you.
That is still a violation of the War Powers Act. People are going to stomp their feet and cry and whine about pointing this out, but it's the truth.

Here's an idea - if Congress can't be trusted, use the Executive branch to take them out of Congress. The entire Jan6 Cmte was unconstitutional and it violated the Constitution with the things it did. Pretty easy to make a case for Frauds Against the United States. Arrest them, prosecute them, put them in jail, clean house. Go after insider trading. This isn't complicated. If you can't do that, or won't do that, then you have to abide by the Constitution and the War Powers Act.

Trump will go to war against other nations, but he will not go to war against Congress, and Congress is a much bigger threat than Iran.

Might want to hold off on all these victory laps and condemnations. We don't really know, yet, how all of this is going to shake out.

In rankings of world military powers, Iran was below Israel. For Israel and the US to work together against Iran, the only shock would be for the first 24-48hrs to not look lopsided.

We don't know the results of Iran's counter-strikes. We don't know what else they may do. We don't know if the US will install new leadership and we certainly don't know how that will go. Iran is Shia. One of the big identities for the Shia is suffering. This could easily be a quick conquering and installation of new leadership, followed by years of insurgency, high oil prices, further separation and growth of BRICS, and more. Then again, Iran could be toppled and be a tremendous new country within the next week.

People need to throttle back on conclusions, victory laps, and condemnations etc. A lot still needs to play out.
I've read some of Hanania's stuff on X. Dude is an idiot.

Libertarians are guided above all else by their belief in the non aggression principle (NAP)

however, they also believe that a third party does *not* have a natural right to save a victim from an aggressor, in the state of nature.

This is a total mischaracterization of Libertarian positions. It would be used to assert that a Libertarian seeing a man beat a child in the street would refrain from stopping the man and thus helping the child. It's an absurd proposition and a lie.
Violence may be employed only against the man who commits such violence; that is, only defensively against the aggressive violence of another. - Rothbard

[Pacifism] is not only futile but harmful. It paralyzes the forces of defense… An aggressor cannot be made to desist from his aggression by exhortations and moralizings. He will desist only if he is confronted by a power strong enough to prevent his advance… Only armed resistance can stop the aggressor. - Ludwig von Mises.

Libertarianism is not pacifism.
He'll go to war against Iran, but not against Senate Republicans.
Scott Jennings tweet is very transparent.
May as well just run the south park clip
Was this one of those instances where the woman felt the need to post every minute of her life to Instagram, giving up their location, and getting him killed?
You have to assume Iran is / had made a big effort with air defense. If there are no US planes coming down, that is going to send messages around the world about the ability to carry out strikes, SEAD, EW, and more.

All those new Chinese defense systems Iran recently received are doing a bang up job aren't they? Another failure by Temu early warning radar and tracking systems.

I was wondering about that. Curious if they are holding them under ground, waiting for early warning (from somewhere) that planes are inbound, wanting to go after the planes and not the missiles. Or, maybe they're junk.

That backbench, TDS-riddled, sad failure of a Congressman wouldn't have an effing clue what "Congress authorized." Because no one in the Congressional leadership will say a word to him. He is anathema.

Trump met with the "Gang of Eight" just before the SOTU. It was a widely reported meeting. WTF does Masshole think they talked about? The weather? As Carville put it, Massie doesn't know whether to scratch his watch or wind his arse.

War Powers Act says Congress, that means all of Congress since it is all of Congress that was delegated war powers by the Constitution. There were no carve outs in the WPA for certain segments of Congress. I really don't understand why you're so angry.
Not sure of the significance of Bahrain - I think it's a command site for fleet HQ and a logistics hub. Don't know if this was a symbolic attack or if they are really going after something that will affect C2 or the ability to resupply in theater, or what. Someone else may know better.

Is it your assertion that the President does not have the authority or legal basis to order these attacks on iran?

To my knowledge he has not complied with the War Powers Act or the Constitution. I don't believe there is an AUMF out there to cover combat action against Iran. So, to answer your question, no. Has he complied with the Constitution and War Powers Act? Maybe I missed something.

Do these attacks make the President a war criminal?

I don't know, but it would appear to make him a violator of the Constitution and the War Powers Act.

From the CRS: Before the President commits U.S. troops into hostilities abroad, the WPR directs that Congress first be consulted "in every possible instance."

From the War Powers Act
It is the purpose of this joint resolution to fulfill the
intent of the framers of the Constitution of the United States and
insure that the collective judgment of both the Congress and the
President will apply to the introduction of United States Armed
Forces into hostilities, or into situations where imminent involvement
in hostilities is clearly indicated by the circumstances, and to the con-
tinued use of such forces in hostilities or in such situations...

The constitutional powers of the President as Commander-in-
Chief to introduce United States Armed Forces into hostilities, or
into situations where imminent involvement in hostilities is clearly
indicated by the circumstances, are exercised only pursuant to (1) a
declaration of war, (2) specific statutory authorization, or (3) a
national emergency created by attack upon the United States, its ter-
ritories or possessions, or its armed forces....

The President in every possible instance shall consult with
Congress before introducing United States Armed Forces into hostili-
ties or into situations where imminent involvement in hostilities is
clearly indicated by the circumstances, and after every such introduc-
tion shall consult regularly with the Congress until United States
Armed Forces are no longer engaged in hostilities or have been removed
from such situations...

Seems like Massie is correct.

Apparently Massie is not happy.

Is Massie focused on the Constitution again?

If the US starts taking casualties, the approval numbers for Trump are going to crater.
Seems to be pretty comprehensive array of targets. Can't say this isn't a war, now.
