Me, I like to taste the main ingredients, like okra, tomato, shrimp or such. If I eat fish, I want to taste the fish, not Tony’s or that seasoning they spray on everything at Tramonte’s. (they do make a good shrimp poboy because I can taste the shrimp!) I live with a self professed chief who thinks he has to prefect everything to his liking. End result is its usually great, but not what I started out cooking. (simple is better)

I’m guessing that Herbie didn’t prepare his famous “Blue Cheese Dipping Sauce” to go with the wings. If he had you would be bragging about that too!

Went there for lunch yesterday, for the first time. We were seated promptly and given menus. Our drink orders were slow (two beers and a margarita) When we were finally asked for our orders they were out of two of the items we wanted. When we asked for something else, they were out of that too. So finally, you say “tell me what you have and I’ll go from there. The service left a lot to be desired. The food we ordered was good. I thought this place had just opened, and that would explain why they were out of so many items, however it seems they have been open for a while. I would be willing to try again but I’ll call first and make sure the menu items are in stock. Seems like it would be a great place if they could get some food and service.

I used to eat there about once a week. 20 lbs. later I figured it out. The Mushroom Burger is the best thing there. Just make sure you know what you want when ordering and don’t change your mind. This tends to piss off the HAMBURGER NAZI.

Okra and Tomato Patties

Fresh Okra
Creole Tomato’s
Corn Meal
Flour
Diced Green Onion
Salt and Pepper

Slice okra thin in a bowl, molest with hand gently until slimy and soft, remove skin from tomato’s and dice. Mix all ingredients and form patties. Fry in olive oil until golden brown. I don’t measure anything, just mix until it looks right, figure how can you screw up okra and tomatoes. You can add other spices, but I like to taste what I'm cooking.

I used to cook this a lot until someone who post on this board decided he could make it better (like anything else I cook) and he did.
