Brother I get it, there is more parity. But we’ve won 2 CWS titles in the era of paying players. In the last 20 years we’ve objectively done better in the era of paying players. So maybe we just had a bad year this year and we are absolutely still the gold standard.

Fair enough, we’ve been pretty damn weak at that position for a while now. Last really defensive catcher we had was Milazzo.

That is fair to say if I based it off of the win. I did not though. I based it off of their performance in hitting, pitching, fielding. They are not lacking in any of those that I saw this weekend. They legit look like a solid team.
Also to pitching, as LSU has proven multiple times now, pitching can absolutely improve and come in super clutch when you least expect it in the post.
