haha...good one!!! I haven't heard that before on this board. You men are so sad. I am just giving props to some LSU guys. ANYWAYS, good jobs to these guys. I think they should play it on the screen before a game.

I love when people just throw random "facts" up on the internet! He was offered a spot on the practice squad and turned them down He felt he would have a better opportunity to play somewhere else, and obviously he made the right choice. It is time to stop spreading the lies and get your story straight.

LOL! This post is either a complete joke, or you are talking to one of his "first cousins" that actually have no relationship, but claim to be his best buddy :)people always want to act like they are in the know. I'm betting this post is a joke though considering if you have half a brain, then you know a 4th rounder didn't make 12 mil

Yes, I was going to respond, but I thought I better not :-) Better to stay classy. TortiousTiger- I saw you said you lived next to us...hmm in which direction? We seriously miss all of the people from that complex! Good times

What kind of woman would I be if I didn't defend my man against all of the rantards that think they know everything? Trust me when I say, I know everything..I am a female, so that should make it all very clear to you :-) LOL!! He says I get to emotional about the stupid things people say. I guess he was right, since he is now a New Orleans Saint and you are still typing away :-D

This honestly makes me want to barf. I bet you wouldn't be man enough to say that to his face, because things probably wouldn't turn out in your favor. That being said, this was an amazing day of happiness that I so nicely decided to share with the Who DAT nation. Please try and refrain from being a ranter for just one day. Maybe your mommy should have done a little more of this when you were little, and then you would show some manners!!

lmao...touche! Al Woods will be interviewing with the Saints tomorrow

is that better?!?!?
Stick to your dream! There are going to be plenty of people to tell you that you are not good enough! If you are a decent player and can take a punishment from the starters, then you have a good chance IMO. I have known many players and coaches at LSU, and they respect a kid who keeps coming back for more. Get on their workout and start NOW! It will be very different from what you did in high school. Best of luck!

Woods to interview with the Saints

Woods got a call to be in New Orleans tomorrow. Best of luck to him and the rest of the guys as they finish up this process and get ready for draft day!

I think that teams are paying attention to him. I just saw that he has multiple personal workouts. Each team only gets about 20 of these workouts, so they must think he is worth taking a closer look at. Best of luck to him either way it goes!

Yes, Woods is a 4 year letterman, but he never got the PT. His junior year they never let him play, and then he had the ankle injury. He must have done something right in his first two years, because the scouts were VERY HIGH on him! Some people around the LSU program say he didn't see the field, because if he left after his junior year there would be NO depth at his position. Whether or not that is true I will never know. I think it is telling when miles walks up to you at the end of the year and says you should have been the starter all year! Kind of makes a person wonder what is really going on. I think Haley helped turn things around for Woods this year. He did have 30 tackles, which isn't bad for a kid that takes on a double team most plays. I would like to see him shed the blocker more, but then again, I am not there to hear what the coach is telling him to do!!

Good news for these guys is....with a little different training it is easy to change

I was merely refering to their ability to change muscle endurance. What they make/ don't make of themselves is a whole different thing! Hopefully this crop will show improvement in the league. Some of them have struggled through college, but have the assests to be great players at the next level. I guess only time will tell.

the League.....sorry moffit

I would have to agree. In the past couple of years LSU boys have not performed as well in the 225 as expected. I trained under moffit and his guys for a couple year, and he is very intense! Their workout enables them to throw people around, but not stick around for the long haul. IMO the NFL wants a guy who can still be pushing people around in the 4th quarter. Good news for these guys is....with a little different training it is easy to change.

muscle strength vs muscle endurance

I did a quick google search, and this site explains the difference pretty well. I did alot of studying on this subject in college. Many people do not understand the physiology behind the two. You would think it would only make sence that if a person can lift alot of weight, then they should also be able to lift less weight for a longer period of time....doesn't really work that way. The muscles used oxygen in different ways depending on the type of workout a person is doing. It takes a while to retrain your body.

that would be great if it answered the question a flaw on the field is different then claims about work ethic and motivation.

I am really surprised at some of the lifting numbers. There is no excuse for the lineman not posting bench numbers north of 25.

I wish I could say this surprises me, but it doesn't. LSU has not trained their players for endurance lifting. These kids have been doing 6 reps and below for 4 years now. That muscle doesn't just change over night. I think you see their functional strength more than the endurance power.

Question regarding Al Woods

Posted by LSUBraingirl on 3/15/10 at 12:10 am
I have been wondering for sometime now why Al Woods work ethic is such a concern. Where is this concern coming from? I can understand if a source says something about his technique, but not his work ethic or ability to stay healthy.

I have known him for a couple years now, and I have always known him to go in before the other players, leave later, watch extra film, workout on days off.... In addition, he only had the one injury in college- an ankle his junior year. It seems like I continue to see this pop up as one of his negatives.

Any thoughts?!?!?!

LSU is notorious for guys doing really bad at the bench press at the combine

That is because LSU trains for burst power instead of endurance. They hardly ever do more than 5 or 6 reps in LSU's weight room. It would make sense for these guys to train for 2 extra weeks. Think about it...most of them didn't start training until atleast 1/11/10 and they don't start training for it right away at the facilities. Might have been a good choice on their part to wait until proday. From my undersatnding, the NFL doesn't really care much about how many times they can put up 225. They want to see functional strength on the field.

Alot of guys are slipping. I talked to an agent today about that who said it doesn't really effect anything. Just throwing it out there...take it for what its worth

He's probably a 3rd-4th rounder

If he is taken in the 3-4 round he will probably be the one at all the people saying you wont make it. I mean if it were me...half a million dollar signing bonus sounds pretty good...just sayin
Just out of curiosity does anyone know who the shortest player in NFL history is? I just wonder what his chances of playing anything other then a returner truly are?!?!
quote:

our LBs as a group played awesome this past year, something often lost on LSU fans as they played behind a horrid DL.

Funny thing is the LBs came out and said they would not have been anywhere as near as productive if it were not for the DL? Agreed that they could have done a little better on the pass rush, but I think you are going a little far with horrid! There are 3 of those horrid players at the combine right now...someone must thing a little different then you. One of which has a grade between 2-4 rounds. he could move up with a good combine/proday/team workouts...just sayin

interview only

Just saw this link about why he is not doing anything
I think this is actually turning into a small problem at LSU. The boys are being trained so much for explosive power and no endurance. They usually do a small number of reps during a workout. Don't get me wrong...the strength is important, but the players seem to have less endurance than in the past. The power is not consistant throughout the entire game! I believe people think this is the players fault, and in some cases it may be. But it has alot to do with how they are being trained...IMO
