A lot of kickstarter boardgames and ttrpgs too

2nd and Charles in BR has a little section that has the books plus little toys

Back to the TV show discussion, maybe SM will use more AI. Apparently he used it to turn himself into Bill Clinton saying prosthetics and cgi looked horrible, but you can overlay AI over an actual actor to create the Katia morphing, etc.

I'm pretty sure all of Dinniman's interviews only mentioned CGI and specifically doing testing for CGI
JC Penney only when there is a massive sale

I don't want to waste money on a tie

Can't imagine it was anything he said on air because he said plenty in peak cancel everything

Like Loup said, it doesn't all have to be impeccable CGI

Just Donut to be honest, and it's bullshite "you can't train a cat to do what you want" frick, they have entire b tier movies where live animals are the main focus. Even A tier movies like Homeward Bound with 2 dogs and a cat for 95% of the movie. Donut does not have to be 100% cgi, Ted did

Less than perfect effects for sluggalos all the way in book 6 doesn't worry me

What we really need to be worried about is if they are going to tone it down
Seth M definitely wouldn't, but would peacock be bitchy about the some of the stuff?

I'm just going to take a hopeful stance on this. He has done very well with a lot of shows, so no need to write it off already

Say what you really want to say

Odette and her humongous... She would break the budget. That is really the issue

Peacock is a mistake, just give us animated on Amazon with the Vox Machina studio.

While that would've been easiest and possibly most likely get us the entire series, a live action just seems awesome

I know nothing of tv production or even what is out there

Apparently peacock did a surprisingly good job with Twisted Metal? Didn't watch so I don't know

Chris Yost should be more of a concern if you hated Cowboy Bebop on Netflix, but maybe that was more blame on Netflix than him

That said, again zero knowledge of tv production, would the cgi cost have to be as high as Ted?

You can train a real cat to run around and then (seamlessly?) use CGI in more action scenes and when Donut is talking. Just my thoughts on how they could cut costs there.

Based on Orville, they can do many of the monsters/races as costumes and not CGI

I would look forward most to book 5 which at minimum would be season 4 if they combined book 1-2 in one season, so that is unfortunate as the odds of it lasting that long as a live action are slimmer based on streamers being cancel-happy
You might be surprised at the number of children of high ranking foreign government officials that are educated here. Especially kids of military leaders that are educated at West Point

Dnfw list

Carl
Donut (and I would fight for Jeff Hayes to voice Donut)
Quasar
Samantha in any way

I don't know. If a live action is done right, it will be amazing and Seth MacFarlane and his company has had some very long running shows. I think it has more to do with the production company over the platform

Guarantee Netflix would have already cancelled after the first season. I'm just happy it is not them

And the Ted work is great CGI, probably the best in TV right now

Of course, animation would be easiest for all the action and monsters

As long as they stay true to the characters and cast correctly instead of rewriting history like so many other shows want to do, I'll be glass half full

Most of those accepted don't actually end up attending. That's the delta if I'm not mistaken

That would be an obvious explanation if I had thought more

Are these kids getting the application fees waived or they just applying to everything and spending 1000s on applicantion fees?

73 percent acceptance rate.

Some numbers are off here

62,000 applied
42,016 current enrollment
73% of 62,000 is 45,260

Is the entirety of the student body every year new students with 3k dropping out mid year?

LSU announced 8,153 first time freshman in 2025 which is, based on 62,000 alleged applicants a 13% acceptance rate

LSU also announced that 61.4% of that 8,153 were Louisiana residents
I'm tired of this, people always bitching. I love Baton Rouge

I love driving over the new bridge early in the morning and seeing the foggy forest covering the city

I love walking on LSU's campus

I love the local restaurants, coffee shops, and book stores

Louie's, Simple Joe, Highland Coffee, Coffee Call, Dearman's, Red Stick Reads, RIP Cottonwood, Gail's, Anthony's, Tony's, and many more

I love going to Calandros to get groceries

I love the little things we can do like Christmas lights at Burden

You can love something and still see it's flaws and want to improve it

Still 10 books. Per MD in February 2026

So what we’re going to do, I think, is — this isn’t set in stone — but I think 9 is the last book, but it’ll be split into two books. So there’s still going to be 10 books total, but I anticipate the last one is going to be pretty wordy. I’m a pretty wordy dude.

I would link the interview but it is Variety and I don't like giving them clicks

You are if you stick with it

Book 1 or 3 depending on personal preference are usually ranked as the worst of the 7 (or 8) in the series. Still great. One of the rare series that genuinely gets better as it goes

If you are doing audiobooks, the narrator has acknowledged that he hates his Carl voice in book 1 and has not listened to it since. He said it was a too over the top caricature of Patrick Warburton. And it is better in book 2 on

I'm about to finish my filler book (Jack Reacher 6 "Without Fail") and I'll start book 6 right after
Or they will either move it to a room that uses a key card
Or like the last one I stayed at

Charge for breakfast (and it was a good one) except for those with a voucher, which they gave us at check-in

Just finished book 5 and damn he likes to drop bombs in the epilogue

It may be my favorite book so far as the crawlers really treat it as a big frick you to the whole system and a lot of questions got answered

Heads up

Jeff Hayes is right now, at 2:28pm on 3/3/2026 doing a cold read of book 8 on the Soundbooth theater live YouTube channel

I will not be watching because I am only on book 5

I started book 5. A whole lot of stuff coming to a head so far and Carl becoming more and more unhinged

Excited to listen to this one after

So far my strategy of reading something else between books is paying off. Keeps the interest high and stops the burnout. I should stay on schedule to be ready for book 8 on May 12 when the hardcopy comes out, but then I'll be sad about a long gap until book 9

I would say Four Hours in My Lai but I don't think that is the vibe you are going for

I'm pretty sure he outright said he was going for Warburton with Carl.

In later books, it crazy to me that he is still doing all the voices. Even female voices don't sound like a man is doing it
